ices, name of current song
Dear Bredan --
I'm seeing them in the debug logs, but they're not making their way into
the stream. OTOH, they are making their way to the directories (ie,
shoutcast):

Any thoughts?
Thanks for the great work!

It should extract the ID3s automatically. If you run

Metadata once more...with Ices
I use Ices with the perl module. I would like to know how to use the
function supposed to return metadata, for example to read Id Tag.
I didn't find anything in the documentation. Are there commands to get
all the fields provided by the IdTag ?
I also had strange results when commenting this function (in that case
it is supposed to stream the name of the song, by reading the IdTag). With

configure script seems to look in the lib and include subdirectories of
the specified path?). i get a configure error:

ices...mount points (and a LAME question)
hi
don't know if i'm missing something, but how do i name mount points
using ices?
i assumed this was specified in the
<ices:Stream>
<ices:Name></ices:Name>
</ices:Stream>
chunk
but whatever i put in there, icecast tells me that my stream is going to
/ices
(according to the output from configure/make, xml is being properly
compiled it)

you should just be able to increase STACKSIZE in thread/thread.c from
8192 to 65536. The default stack size is too small,

Freeamp output plug-in
Hello:
I don't usually post requests like this to mailing lists, but I've just
about run out of other options. The vorbis.org and vorbis.com sites both
make mention of a beta vorbis output plug-in for freeamp, but I'm blowed if
I can find it anywhere. It's definitely not in the vorbis.com download
section (unless it's been placed their within the last 24 hours or so), and

someone wake me up...
and tell me that it is possible to make icecast broadcast titles or id3 tags. I refuse to believe that you all can talk so fondly of a program that gives you the ability to make a radiostation but not tell its listeners what is on the air.. That is just too weird.. So what do YOU do to tell people what they are listening to?

format of http stream?
I am streaming ogg via inetd. Basically, I am outputing like:
oggenc -Q -b 1 -o - /some/wave/file.wav
This works fine with ogg123 (other than that I want the bit rate to be
lower than 55-100 range that it is doing).
I am using:
Ogg123 from vorbis-tools 1.0rc2
OggEnc v0.8 (libvorbis rc2)
But, FreeAmp for Windows slowly buffered up to 100% then said "Skipped
Corrupted File".

Icecast and rtp
I have managed to get icecast streaming to freeamp on another computer,
using http, but does icecast support rtp streaming of mp3 files?
Is there any online documentation about icecast streaming using rtp?
Also, is there any freeamp manual documentation online?
Finding this documentation is really difficult!!
Thanks

Setting up a cups printer
I'm trying to set up a cups printer but I don't know much about printing in
linux and am a bit confused. I've installed a printer in cups using the web
interface and it works fine. All the tutorials I've read though refer to
/var/spool/lpd/lp but on my system this doesn't exist. I'm guessing this is
because I'm not using lpd, I'm using cups. There are a few

newbie uk questions...
hi:
Just starting out with *, and I'm planning to heed the advice to start
simple and small, but the goal i'm aiming for eventually is:
*-based pbx for 10-20 seat small business, based in the UK. Users will
have PoE SIP hardphones. So far so good, but two questions, both
UK-specific, relating to connection to the outside world (PSTN or VoIP):
- are there any UK-based VoIP providers

Vorbis stream up now
Greetings:
If you're using the latest XMMS (CVS preferably), FreeAmp, Sonique
(?), or ogg123 (maybe), please check out this URL for a Vorbis playlist
stream:
http://64.108.112.34:8000/shouter.ogg
The playlist is lengthy, and I've set it to repeat three times, so it
will be on-line for a while. Please let me know how well or badly the
stream was received, thanks.

UTF-8 to ISO 8859-1 converter
I've got a bug pending for FreeAmp right now where the vorbis metadata
plugin does not handle international characters right. The comments that
are returned from vorbis_comment_query() are in UTF-8, but FreeAmp is
ISO 8859-1. I've been looking for a UTF-8 --> ISO 8859-1 converter that
is available for inclusion in a GPL/LGPL program and is reasonably
small. There are many full blown
