FreeBSD in general
Hello everyone, I am very tempted to try and use icecast as the weapon of choice to realize a live audio stream for the radio station I work for. Now, the last time I tried the FreeBSD port of Icecast, it immediately consumed something like 95% CPU time, even without any client connected. I think someone else reported that problem, but I somehow lost track of the issue - has this been

I have installed lame, and its working well, How to choose CD mode in liveice? I have just seen with or without live input (soundcard). Well, I will need to stream live input, from a radio, what should I use instead of liveice? what do you recomend me? Thank you, Rocael. --- Joe Bowser <bowserj@unbc.ca> wrote: > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > On Sun, 19

FreeBSD in general
Hi there guys... I've been watching the list for a while, had a quick question. I work for a company (Turtle Beach) that makes a product that takes MP3 files that reside on your PC or Network Attached Storage, and lets you play them anywhere else in your home. (From your stereo for example.) Anyway, we've added basic MP3 streaming support (and have now gone to external beta) that

Dummy soundcard driver for Windows (OT)
Yes there is - both LiveIce and mpegmixer used a terminal as an interface - telnet/ssh into the box and control it all. Of course back when mpegmixer was released (1996) there was no streaming solutions available so you could only remotely control stuff within earshot ;-) > > But there is no real "remote DJ"-software yet, is there? My Bc server will receive N sources, mix them and broadcast the final results, but I see some differences

Liveice & Icecast...help
Yes, I downloaded the aumix utility and am using it now. Set line in to %50 then %25 and to record but still the same thing. I'm streaming from the line in on the sound card which is being fed from a portable radio nearby. I get the distortion whether I have the audio fed into 'line in' or not. btrieve applications
Hello fellow samba users, I have installed quite a couple of samba fileservers so far. There are exactly two installations which give me real hard time, and both have to do with Win9x clients running applications based on ... *sigh* btrieve. What I do server-sided is switch on opportunistic locking (level2 oplocks = yes). Without this, the applications don't run at all, at least not on more

btrieve - a neverending story
Hello out there, recently I posted a trouble report about my Samba/btrieve experience. I have encountered the worst case scenario - corrupt databases... I had a brief correspondency with Dave Collier-Brown (whose book on Samba can't be praised enough) about this, in which he told me that working under the same login a) network-wide and b) application-wide could lead to such corrpution.

MP3 decoding, fading and streaming at the same time
Hi There, I have just ported to Linux a program that I wrote years ago in Prolog under DOS to automate our Shortwave radio station. Back in 1990 the original program used ADPCM coded audio files and a special board. Now I can use MP3 files and a Soundblaster compatible card ;-) under Linux, and it runs from a console without any fancy interface. I absolutely need to fade-in and fade-out

Liveice & Icecast...help
I'm running FreeBSD 4.2. I downloaded and installed Icecast 1.3.10, Liveice, mpg123, and Lame. I know the Icecast streamer is working because I can feed it from WinAMP on my PC and listen to the stream somewhere else and it sounds fine. I know liveice is working too because Icecast shows that it connects and is sending audio to it. However when I listen to the stream on my PC with WinAMP

Q: Is it possible?
Hi from spain! (sorry, I speak only a little english) I collaborate with an spanish NGO and we're planning to set up an Internet radio station. I would like to base our project on linux and Icecast / liveice (right?) but I don't understand some terms of "radio" practices. I need your experience&help; the project should cover the following scenarios: * A broadcast server
