Problems streaming high bitrate over a LAN
I am trying to stream various 320kbps MP3s across my 10Mbps LAN. Either locally or across the network, freeamp and xmms prefetch a chunk, then play it, then fetch another chunk etc. No continuous streaming. shout gets a lot of !s between its "."s when sending the file to icecast. Any ideas? -- Always hardwire the explosives -- Fiona Dexter quoting Monkey, J. Gregory Keyes, Dark

question on downsampling
Hi, Maybe a bit off topic for this list, bt anyway. I have received several feature requests for DarkIce to support downsampling of the audio input before passing it to lame or ogg vorbis. For example the audio read from the soundcard would be 44.1kHz, and lame would get it at 22.05kHz. I figure two ways of doing this: 1. For lame, one can specify the input and the desired mp3 sampling rate,

Samba Printer - Access Denied, unable to connect
Hi, I have a Samba server with a local printer attached to the Linux system. In the past, I could print documents fine from my Windows PC. Now, I cannot figure out why I cannot access my system. It has been like that for a while and I put it on the back burner. Initially, I thought it was the printer port screws were loose and were responsible for not printing. I have them tightened and

Not a valid SIP contact - Asterisk 1.4.21.1 & Mitel SIP phones
Hi, I have a client using Mitel 5212 phones in SIP mode with a 1.4.21.1 Asterisk server (and a couple of previous 1.4 versions). They're mostly happy with the combination except for this one issue. For incoming calls only, either originating from other local SIP phones or from a PRI, calls won't get bridged (remote party get's hung up) if the call is answer too quickly on the

User home dirs
Hello all, I have a couple of questions about using the user home directories. Is it nesscary to keep the smbpasswd file in sync with the passwd file. When user level securitiy is turned on. From what I have been able to figure out is that these files do not automagically sync up and that the only real way to keep them in sync is to do it manually, unforutaly from what I have been able to
