SNAT multiple IP to single internal IP and limiting access based on external IP
Hello all,
I have shorewall setup with 3 SNAT entries for external IP address''s to

Yet Another Apache/FastCgi Setup Issue
I have set up FastCGI on the server and added 2 servers/processes and
increased the timeout from 30seconds to 60seconds. I _think_ I did
that properly because I now have to wait the full 60 seconds like
clockwork until I get the "Rails application failed to start" when I
browse to my URL. Before it was 30 seconds like clockwork.
When I run "ruby dispatch.fcgi" I get the

Cheap ZFS homeserver.
So after toying around with some stuff a few months back I got bogged down and set this project aside for a while. Time to revisit. <BR><BR>
Looking around there still is not a good "these cards/motherboards" work list. the HCL is hardly ever updated, and its far more geared towards business use than hobbyist/home use. So bearing all of that in mind I will need the

Fully-Virtualized XEN domU not Booting over iSCSI
Hello,
I am currently trying to move my VMs from running on local host storage to
a shared storage (trying out iSCSI) but I am
facing a bit of a booting dilemma.
The domUs are a mix of paravirtualized and fully-virtualized VMs. They all
boot and run like clockwork when on local
storage.
The paravirtualized domUs appear not to have a problem when I relocate and
boot them from the shared storage

FORWARD:REJECT messages in Shorewall
(Shorewall 1.4.4b; running the Mandrake edition.) Occasionally, usually during
a zone transfer, I get unusual Shorewall messages, like this:
Sep 30 20:30:08 yoreach kernel: Shorewall:FORWARD:REJECT:IN=eth1 OUT=eth1
SRC=10.1.1.1 DST=10.1.1.230 LEN=54 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=63 ID=21332 DF
PROTO=UDP SPT=4778 DPT=53 LEN=34
where the src is the DNS master, and the DST is the slave server.

MySQL Realtime Voicemail Connection Lost
I'm using realtime for voicemail users, and for reasons that I don't yet understand, when it doesn't get used for a while (like overnight), the first connection attempt of the day will display this on the console.

dimension trouble for a matrix
Dear R People:
I'm having trouble with something that should be very simple.
I'm setting up a matrix outside of a loop and writing items into it
during the loop.
Here is the output:

Error in xy[i, ] : incorrect number of dimensions
Here is the function:

Database Concurrency Without a Web Server?
My Rails application requires a very busy worker process running in the
background at all times. I am launching this non-interactive process
using script/runner. This process is very busy and is communicating
with the MySQL server constantly. As I started putting some load on the
system to test, I started running into performance issues.
I have since discovered that Rails is only using 1

Mac OS X installer: missing files fix
I've paraphrased the OS X installer developer's comments: there's a bug in
Installer that is preventing the archive from working right. Below is the
fix for the problem.
First (obviously) run the installer. Since the executables are in the
archive.pax.gz file in the installer package, first do a "show package
contents" on the package file, then unstuff the enclosed

ipmasqadm port forwarding ipportfw (HOWTO)
Hi All,
born out of frustration with conflicting info on the net, I thought I'd
share a simple guide to set up the port forwarding side of masquerading...
this presumes you already have basic ipchains setup and simple masquerading
of internal machines installed.
PORT FORWARDING USING IPMASQADM.
Ipmasqadm supercedes the ipportfw feature.

ZFS Inexpensive SATA Whitebox
All,
So I have started working with Solaris 10 at work a bit (I''m a Linux
guy by trade) and I have a dying nfs box at home. So the long and short of
it is as follows: I would like to setup a SATAII whitebox that uses ZFS as
its filesystem. The box will probably be very lightly used, streaming media
to my laptop and workstation would be the bulk of the work. However I do
have quite a

Clicks in audio with TE100P PRI
Hi, I have a problem I will describe. I have PAP2 connected to the internet
to an asterisk box with 2 TDM cards, one TE100P E1 with PRI and one TDM400P
with 2 FXS an one FXO.
When I call to the TDM400 cards from the PAP2 eveything is OK, sound quality
is perfect.
When I call to terminate the call in PSTN through E100P I hear clicks which
aparently are RTP packet looses. This clicks are only heard

been very responsive either. My apologies if you've tried to contact me and I did
not reply quickly or at all.
So to cover up (can't report on what is happening :-) I dedicate this

Dovecot and LDAP-Quotas
Hi all,
I have configured Dovecot as a POP/IMAP-Server in front of a Postfix-Server.
Every thing works without one thing: LDAP-quotas
The main-quota-rule works:
quota_rule: *:storage=8M
Only the LDAP-quota won't be used by Dovecot:
user_attrs = msRADIUSFramedIPAddress=quota_rule=*:storage=%$k
I have to use the special LDAP-field "msRADIUSFramedIPAddress" because my W2003
