Liveice & Icecast...help
How do I change the record volume. I am doing all this from the console, no
GUI. I have not seen anything in any of the config files to set the record
volume.

Liveice & Icecast...help
I've used a Sound Blaster AWE32 / Liveice combo before.
Sounds like your record volume is set WAY to high or more likely you are
recording from the wrong input. Make sure that it's the _line_in_ that's
selected for recording in you mixer app.
Also If i remember you have to use HALF_DUPLEX mode (in liveice.cfg) at
least if you're using MIXER mode... I'm not sure about in

Liveice & Icecast...help
Your distro probably came with an sound mixer application. I use aumix on
the console which i had to go get, but you may already have, see if you
have a man page. Else you can search freshmeat.net for it. You will need
to make sure _line_in_ is set for recording and set the _rec_ volume at
1/2 to start and adjust by trial and error. NOTE: the _line_in_ Volume
adjusts how loud you HEAR the source,

Yes, I downloaded the aumix utility and am using it now. Set line in to %50
then %25 and to record but still the same thing. I'm streaming from the
line in on the sound card which is being fed from a portable radio nearby.
I get the distortion whether I have the audio fed into 'line in' or not.

One possibility is that Lame is using the wrong endianess for your
system try changing NUMBER_LITTLE_ENDIAN to NUMBER_BIG_ENDIAN in
liveice.h and rebuilding.
The default distribution of Lame uses big endia samples on IO, which
means that in raw input mode it needs the -x arg to be set. However -
some 'helpful' people have made this the default on some
distributions.... so when liveice

icecast+liveice in normal user fail
I would like to use icecast and liveice as my normal account.
If I do so, using xmms, I can access the relayed radios I have defined,
but I cannot listen th the playlist liveice is broadcasting on /disk. XMMS
tells me that the specified stream could not be found.
If I launch icecast as root however, it works fine. I've searched through
the logs and checked the file permissions but I

multiple liveice sources
Hi,
I am trying to stream two different sources with two soundcards using
liveice and icecast, all from single Linux box. Can anyone tell me if this
is possible?
I tried creating two sets in the liveice config file where I specified
different devices. No erros but the latter source was streamed on both
mount points. Running two instances of liveice talking to one instance of
icecast failed.

liveice.cfg location
Can I tell liveice to load a liveice.cfg in a location other than the same directory the liveice program is in? The problem is if I try to run liveice from anywhere other than it's directory it's not finding the liveice.cfg file.
Let's say I'm at /. If I run /usr/local/icecast/bin/liveice from there it will not find the /usr/local/icecast/bin/liveice.cfg file. There has got to

Puppet Agent on Windows - High CPU Usage
I recently noticed that the Windows host where I installed the Puppet agent
for testing was thrashing the CPU.
The culprit ended up being Ruby.exe *32 - "Ruby interpreter (CUI) 1.8.7.334
[i386-mingw32]". This is actually being launched by the puppet-agent
service in Windows. The CPU on the host was pegged around 50% all day
long. When I shut down the puppet-agent it went down to a

Something like the following in your rc.local or other startup file should do the trick. Modify the paths to suit your installation.

Liveice startup error message..
Hello,
I have been trying to use liveice with icecast to stream live audio. I am
getting an error message that I can't seem to find an answer to. FIrst of
all, I start Icecast (Version 2.2.0) and it seems to come up fine. Then I
start liveice, and I get the following error message:

broadcast FM radio
Hi.
I want to broadcast FM radio.
Can i pass data directly from my radio card to livecast
and finally to my server, or must i pass data in the sound
card after the radio card and before liveice?
Thanks in advance,
Bertrand.

I'm having the weirdest trouble with liveice. When I start it up with the

liveice problem
Hello everybody...
I figure this is not exactly an icecast question, but maybe
someone might be able to help.
Icecast runs nicely as far as I can see, and so does liveice,
apart from the fact I don't get any input signal fed into it. I
think it's due to the fact it expects the signal on line in by
default and the souncard only has a mic in. So I tried to use
the built in mixer mode,

problems with liveice
I have installed lame, and its working well,
How to choose CD mode in liveice? I have just seen
with or without live input (soundcard).
Well, I will need to stream live input, from a radio,
what should I use instead of liveice?
what do you recomend me?
Thank you,
Rocael.

Frustrated with Ubuntu XMMS, XMMS-Liveice, and icecast
I have XMMS and XMMS-liveice setup to use ALSA to stream audio to my
icecast server using LAME encoding.
I start the sound file and i can see XMMS playing away happily, icecast
detects the connection and shows the source as being connected, but no
bandwisth useage. If I connect to the icecast server I get a client
connection, but no sound.
Scanning other forums there appears that there might
