[Newbie Q] Relay to an Icecast server apparently not relaying?
The main stream is going to a Shoutcast server via Winamp. Works fine. A Relay stream goes to Live365. Works fine. I set up a Relay under SAM to point to the Icecast server running on another box on the network. In SAMs Realy section it tells me that it's connected - and Icecast seems to be telling me the same thing. Obviously I'm missing something in the setup of IceCast - I think?

Its my first time installing icecast...and i'm having problems
Both ports are enabled. Here is the actual ouput, maybe someone can make more sense of it. This is what happens when I try to stream (note that the encoder has been accepted the line before): -> [13/Dec/2001:13:46:42] [Bandwidth: 0.000000MB/s] [Sources: 0] [Clients: 0] [Admins: 1] [Uptime: 1 seconds] -> [13/Dec/2001:13:47:35] Accepted encoder on mountpoint /icy_0 from

If you can access the stream, you should be able to access the admin console. I have had some problems though: If I use Win2000's telnet, I can get an admin console. C:\>telnet 192.168.1.1 8000

Using ices or shout with continuously growing files?
Hi people, I'm using an external mp3pro encoder that creates a contuously growing file from a live input. However, ices and shout read the file size, and stop when that value is reached, then they start playing the file over again. What I want is that it keeps playing the file, as it should be able to keep playing until eternity :) I've copied the output of shout beneath. Is there

LiveIce/IceCast Error
Greetings everyone.... When I run liveice, I get an "Error:sending data to remote server message" from liveice, and then it hangs (I actually have to open another console window to kill the process). The IceCast server respond with the following: Kicking source 1 [127.0.0.1] [Access Denied (tcp wrappers (source connection))] [encoder], connected for 1 seconds, 0 bytes transfered.

A few Newbie Questions on libwrap
Hello all, I have been having some trouble getting my Icecast server and IceS streamer up and running properly. I have successfully compiled both (Icecast 1.3.10 and IceS 0.0.1beta5) with libwrap and encrypt enabled. I can start up Icecast fine, with the following logged messages on startup: Icecast Version 1.3.10 Initializing... Icecast comes with NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by law.

Stalled response from icecast to ices
Icecast 1.3.12 IceS 0.3 Linshout 2.0/2.1 tried Linux 2.6.7 VIA C3 architechure Hi. I have found a very interesting problem with the above setup. Icecast starts up fine, but when I try to connect with iceS I get no response. I've straced iceS and the last word comes from icecast, but waiting for more. Icecast mentions nothing during this process, but show a quick connect/lost connection when

Requesting some support...
Hi all, Sorry if I ask something too basic, but I've just started with icecast and I don't know if I have done something wrong. I have downloaded and compiled icecast. I have modified the configuration file and added a test mp3 file in /usr/local/icecast/static/ann.mp3. Finally, I have started it obtaining the following: [chris@linux2 bin]$ ./icecast Icecast Version 1.3.12

Icecast & Liveice b.s.
I hope this is not too obvious, but you failed you mention the MP3 encoder that you are using with Liveice. If indeed you do not have an encoder, or liveice is not pointed at it, then you will indeed get the liveice behavior that you mentioned. josh On Thu, 5 Apr 2001, john wrote: > I have been fiddling with the darn thing > for three days now, and i am at whits end. Icecast & Liveice b.s.
I have been fiddling with the darn thing for three days now, and i am at whits end. I dunno why it isn't working. Any help is so much appreciated. I am trying to use mpg123, liveice and icecast on my Alpha. It does not have a sound card. All three programs compile without any problems. If i did not know better, i just might a throw the alpha off the space station and watch it burn up on

Its my first time installing icecast...and i'm having problems
I've installed icecast. Then I run the server in the bg. I can encode to it from winamp just fine, but I cant seem to stream from it. The icecast verbose messages say "Kicking unknown #3 (hostmask) [no encoder]" or something along those lines. Does this have something to do with my deny/allow settings? Also, when I do a 'sources' it lists that there is a source on mountpoint

A few Newbie Questions
Hi all, I apologize for the following questions - some may be more general Linux questions while others hopefully relate directly to Icecast: 1) With regards to the recent buffer-overflow exploit and the recommendation of running icecast as a non-root user, how exactly does one do that? I've changed the UID and GUID of the icecast directory and files and binaries to nobody, but what user

Web Admin Settings
Hi everybody. I'm still trying to solve the problem with link in the set mode page (web admin interface). I have seen in the source file (item.c) that it is suppose to return and string, but it's returning nothing. It's ware it can't build the link correctly, because only left the argument value, and each value is printed previously. I'm going to keep hacking to try to resolve

icecast+liveice in normal user fail
I would like to use icecast and liveice as my normal account. If I do so, using xmms, I can access the relayed radios I have defined, but I cannot listen th the playlist liveice is broadcasting on /disk. XMMS tells me that the specified stream could not be found. If I launch icecast as root however, it works fine. I've searched through the logs and checked the file permissions but I
