icecast 2 testing
hello,
could someone test the my icecast 2 server? there should be a stream at
http://real.radiostudio.org:8000/vorbis, but I'm not able to listen to
it. I don't know if the problem in winamp or in icecast or in my
streaming application. You could also send a stream to it, it's the
default icecast password.
I would be very happy if someone could test it :))))))

Newbie question about soundcards
Here's what I got:
a running shoutcast server, and doing just fine thanks. machine is a
crapola with a 486 dx/4 24meg, running SuSE kernel 2.2.16, no X, no
soundcard, runs secondary DNS and serves NFS. nothing else, hell, doesn't
even have a monitor attached. http, sendmail and others run on another box
that has more *oomph*, in case you're wondering. icecast 1.4.0 compiled on

libshout1-based mp3 streaming to icecast2
The short answer, as Geoff says, is to use ices 0.x from CVS with libshout 2.
The good news is CVS ices 0 has a number of bug fixes.
libshout2 may be found at anoncvs@cvs.xiph.org:/usr/local/cvsroot libshout
ices is at anoncvs@cvs.xiph.org:/cvs/ice ices
Note the different paths above!
Now, a little more detail:

ices2: ice-url header patch
After reading this posting in the icecast archives (http://www.xiph.org/archives/icecast/3483.html) about setting the stream url in the metadata with ices2, I couldn't see that it actually was possible to set the ice-url anywhere.
Please let me know if the attached patch is any use, and if I'm sending it to the right place! (Unix linefeeds). I use it with Peercast. It means you can add

buffer size from source to ice/shoutcast
Hello,
I've built my own source for ICE/SHOUTcast, and it works pretty well except for one thing. After tuning into the server and listening for an 60-90 minutes you may hear a song skip ahead 30-90 seconds. I think I know why this is happening but I'mnot sure how to fix it.
I think this is happening because my source is sending a little bit too much data to ICE/SHOUTcast. My formula

why does it sound so strange
hi,
what makes the stream at http://ogg.radiostudio.org:8007/ostream.ogg
sound so strange. I don't complain, I just want to know the reason for
this (is this pre-echo?).
mörk
p.s.: the stream will be online for the next couple of days.

ice-metadata header incomplete?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I'm trying to write a PHP script that communicates with the Icecast2 server
directly to retrieve current song information. Since the documentation for
the ICE/SHOUT protocol is, frankly, pretty much non-existant, I did a search
on Google and eventually came up with this site:

Is something wrong with ices 2.0-kh60a?
Hiya Karl (and everybody else),
I noticed today that ices 2.0-kh60a came out last January, and opted to
give it a try. Unfortunately, it just wouldn't work at all, so I had to
back down to 2.0-kh60.
What I get in my log is this:
[2006-04-21 21:16:18] DBUG om_shout/check_shout_connected Time we started stream on ice.imars.net:8000/cigr.ogg

ok, send me your xml, so I know what parts are being used, I have to
check the code for something else, but it does look to be the libshout

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
All I can tell you is that I've been unable to ever get meta_data to
stream, and the question I sent about it a week or two ago has gone
unanswered.
I never actually checked that I was using WinAmp 2.75, but I do know that
whatever version of winamp I *was* using could stream metadata from other
sites.

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
also, keep in mind that support for streaming song titles is also a
function of the source client you use....
I've been very successful with use_meta_data=1 and using either my DSP
source (oddcast) or the Shoutcast DSP source....
and you can always know for sure if song titles are supported on your
server by looking at the HTTP response headers from a request of the
stream, (your request

Source Authentification
Hi,
I've just switched to icecast 2... I was using some shell script that
were re-encoding stream at differents bitrate but they aren't working
anymore with icecast 2 :-(
What is the new authentification protocol ?
Previously, I was sending :
SOURCE $PASSWORD $DESTMOUNTPOINT
x-audiocast-name: $NAME
x-audiocast-url: $URL
x-audiocast-genre: $GENRE
x-audiocast-bitrate: $BITRATE

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
I've searched the archives on xiph and elsewhere in hopes of finding an
answer on whether song titles will work. There seems to be no definitive
answer.
use_meta_data 1 DOES work for WinAmp 2.75 but nothing else I've tried (which
includes the latest WinAmp and Sonique). Also, I can get some header by
telnetting into my port (see below) but still the "meta_data" issue remains

Docu for Winbind using userprincipalName (UPN)
Hi Samba-Group,
my name is carsten from cologne.
I would like to use samba/winbind in a Windows AD 2k3, 2k8 multi-domain environment as workstation.
All users from the AD should be able to logon via ssh for example.
It would great to use the MS userprincipalName (UPN). I am using samba 3.2.6.37 from sernet on a centos 5.2 system.
The normal authentication by domain+username works fine.
