Hi, I am new to this, so please bear with me if this has been answered before. I compiled IceS to stream mp3s to Icecast and it works fine except for two things. 1. I cannot get XML module to work ie. the conf file doesn't work I have compiled and installed libxml-1.8.11 but when I start up IceS, it says something about the namespace. So I tried compiling libxml2 but that, for some reason,

I tried the 3.70 rpm and received an error that rpm couldn't handle the version of whatever packaged it. So I had to do things by getting the source and compiling. The same was true with lame. Also I copied all the lame headers to the /usr/local/include directory, did the ./configure which seemed to work and then did the make, which didn't. Any other ideas? Thanks, Scott ANGEL

Where can I find the 3.87 version of LAME? I've seen nothing later than 3.80 and this was just for documentation. The place I'm looking is lame.sourceforge.net. Perhaps you know a site that has the latest and greatest... Scott -------- Thomas Vander Stichele wrote: > > OK, I found LAME's web site and installed it using the source for it. Never mind I found the latest version of LAME and got the 3.87 version as you mentioned. When I did the gmake (interesting that it is no longer make) it still got the same errors. I copied the lame.h file to the directories /usr/local/include, /usr/local/include/lame, and even to the same directory as ices and still got the same error! Any ideas what to try next? Thanks, Scott -----

Unbeknownst to the maintainers of lame, I am fiddling with lame3.70 on an Alpha Cabriolet. If, and when I get around to it, I will post my source for the alpha architecture. I will have a go at ices

OK, I found LAME's web site and installed it using the source for it. That appears to work. I also found a couple of libxml... packages and either replaced the existing ones and added a few others. That went without problem. However the same problem exists. I found that the lame.h file is in a directory of /root/lame3.70 Perhaps the make can't find it at this directory? IS there

Reencode ogg/vorbis stream/file with lower bitrate?
Greetings to all, It's been rumored that subj is possible, even with no decoding/encoding the .ogg file, but simply throwing out some information from it. I just wonder: is it really possible, and if yes, if there some software capable of doing this? -- [dan@shinestar ~]$ ls -l /dev/brains ls: /dev/brains: No such file or directory --- >8 ---- List archives:

Check out GStreamer @ http://gstreamer.net. So far I've just read the docs and haven't actually coded with it yet, but it seems infinitely customizable and supports a bunch of codecs :) David -------

How to not reencode with ices2
It appears that no matter what I place into the <encode></encode> section of my ices2.xml, the stream is re-encoded. If I remove the <encode></encode> section alltogether my ogg files are streamed as is but the status page no longer shows the correct information. So what is the proper way to configure a stream that just 'passes through' the ogg files at whatever

ices-0.4 Reencode problems
Since the mailing list archives are a bit difficult to go through at the moment, I'll go ahead and simply ask. If I fire up ices-0.4 with reencode enabled, at pretty much the end of every song I get an error: bitstream problem: resyncing... Occasionally it will also throw in a: mpg123: Can't rewind stream by NNN bits! And eventually after a dozen songs or so I'll get a rash

ezstream reencode
Hi: The only thing I can think of that might cause your reencode not to work is that perhaps you have MP3 files with extensions with capital letters (i.e., not "mp3", but "MP3" or "Mp3" etc). This maybe could cause the match to fail. Geoff. -- Geoff Shang <geoff@hitsandpieces.net> Phone: +61-418-96-5590 MSN: geoff@acbradio.org Make sure your E-mail can
