Bridging Update
The bridging documentation (http://shorewall.net/2.0/bridge.html) has been expanded and there is a refresh of the bridging code (ftp://shorewall.net/pub/shorewall/Bridging and http://shorewall.net/pub/shorewall/Bridging). -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net

Docker Bridge - Howto deal with it?
Hello, I have started playing around with docker (https://www.docker.io/) and am having trouble to integrate the "docker0" bridge it creates on the fly into my shorewall setup (version 4.5.16.1) on debian testing. IP forwarding is on and I have defined a "doc" ipv4 zone and the interfaces has an entry like so, > doc docker0

netfilter + vpn + how/why + etc...
Hi, I have a few questions about the inner workings of netfilter (a graphical layout of my network setup @ https://aequorin.homeunix.net:62389/local/media/network-graph.png) 1) These are the syslog entries for some simple connection tests. Shorewall/netfilter has been set to record all stateful connections SSH is recognized as phys(eth0) -> $FW traffic. This is because PHYSIN is

Re: IPSec Passthrough fails when using CiscoVPNclient
Hi Vene, Would appreciate any help you can give as I am not sure which NAT you are talking about. A little more background. I am replacing a Windows 2000 routing and remote access machine that was acting as the gateway and performing NAT for Internet access for our local clients. In this setup the cisco VPN clients had no problem connecting to the vpn concentrator. The only difference in any

Proper setup for a router with 2 interfaces and a bridge on one?
I''m working on setting up a new router/server/etc. box. I''m using Proxmox as the base system (Debian Lenny basically). I''m trying to figure out the right way to configure Shorewall on it. I''ve looked at some of the bridging info but they seem to all be talking about single-interface setups. Could someone look over my setup and give me some input into the

resending to new external address
Hi folks, As you''ve no doubt noticed incoming spam recently massively increased. This has overloaded our current server (24.74.9.226) which does HTTP, SMTP, POP and IMAP. To help cope with this, I''ve put up a second server (24.74.9.225) which will be the mail server, leaving the original server to just be a web server. Can I use shorewall on the first machine (version

Zoning Out
I''m getting my zones confused. Help. I need to have a bunch of systems using OpenVPN to gain an IP in the virtual subnet 10.100.1.0/24, on interface tun0. I will then route whole subnets to those IPs, like 10.100.2.0/24 via 10.100.1.12, etc. I want to have a policy for: - all hosts behind tun0 - all hosts in 10.100.1.0/24 - individual subnets being routed through IPs in

Client cannot connect to Internet
Hello List, This is my first post to the list, and as such I apologize for the length of it. I tried to put as much detail into this as possible. I recently installed Shorewall on a computer running Gentoo Linux. The computer has 3 network cards in it, but I''ve only configured 2. Going the cheap route, I''m connecting my client directly to my firewall using a crossover cable.

FORWARD:REJECT messages in Shorewall
(Shorewall 1.4.4b; running the Mandrake edition.) Occasionally, usually during a zone transfer, I get unusual Shorewall messages, like this: Sep 30 20:30:08 yoreach kernel: Shorewall:FORWARD:REJECT:IN=eth1 OUT=eth1 SRC=10.1.1.1 DST=10.1.1.230 LEN=54 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=63 ID=21332 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=4778 DPT=53 LEN=34 where the src is the DNS master, and the DST is the slave server.

FORWARD:REJECT
I have a 3 nic setup with shorewall 1.4.8-1 running on redhat 9. My eth2 (dmz zone)has 7 secondary address attached to it. I can ping a machine in each subnet, dmz to net rules seem to be working fine on all machines.. I have my policy set as dmz to dmz accept. If I try to ping between subnets I get Nov 21 12:18:45 kbeewall kernel: Shorewall:FORWARD:REJECT:IN=eth2 OUT=eth2 SRC=172.17.0.2

xen, fc4, bridging, iptables and conntrack problem
Hi, I''m testing out Xen on FC4. I''m using bridging for networking, as well as iptables to firewall, configured with the standard Fedora ''system-config-security-level'' tool. However I have really strange problem with conntrack not seeming to catch outbound connections. This prevents outbound connections working from dom0. Connections from domU''s

hopeless - smb over bridged firewall
Dear List! I use a shorewall 2.0.8 on a Debian sarge system. I use a DSL connection to the Internet (ppp0 - eth1 to the modem) and a bridge to the local lan. The bridged config i''ve made with bridge.html from the shorewall site. The Bridge is between local net and a openvpn tap device. This works. I ccan make tunnels, and a can make a lot of things through the firewall. I can get a list

IPSEC/L2TP Local and External Internet Access at same time through two interfaces?
Hey First, apologies if this went out twice. I sent the original email from an odd email configuration (essentially from an alias of what I signed up as). I searched and noticed that my post did not appear and I did not get a bounce back so I was confused. I waited a few days before resending. So apologies if this goes out twice. I am not trying to spam. I was hoping someone could help me with

bluetooth nap and internet access problem
