icecast 2.0 semi-permanent test stream
Icecast 2.0 and Ices 2.0 are both fairly usable now. I have set up a semi-permanent test stream for people to bang on at: http://i.cantcode.com:8888/ices.ogg Please report any problems you have. I say semi-permanent, because it will probably crash now and then, and I will be developing and putting up the new versions on a regular basis. If it stops working for more than an hour, somethings

where is the icecast 2 source?
Hi, I wanted to download the icecast 2 source. Here's how: 1. I looked at the icecast.org site (seemed like a logical choice). It's not even mentioned on the site, it's not in the downloads directory, and not in the CVS tree either (there is something there called ice2, it's almost empty) 2. I looked at the xiph.org site, it points back to icecast.org 3. I searched the mailing

Where can I get Icecast 2.0?
I have Icecast 1.3.11 working just fine. Now I want to try to migrate to the Ogg Vorbis thing, for purposes of static file streaming. With 1.3.11 as a default install on RedHat 7.1, would I install v2.0 as a new product or overlay / delete the v1.3.11 install? streaming Vorbis: trials & errors with Icecast 2
Greetings: Okay, here's where I'm at so far. Icecast 2 builds without problems. I edit the icecast.xml config file as seen in the server output below: [root@localhost icecast]# icecast -c conf/icecast.xml <?xml version="1.0"?> <icecast> <location>DLP_House_Of_Sound</location> <admin>dlphilp@bright.net</admin> <limits>

compiling 2.0
How do I get 2.0 to compile? I just pulled it down from CVS, and I could not get it to compile, it was missing some stuff about vsnprintf.c. I have a couple of extra servers floating around and I'd like to start playing with Vorbis streaming. Also, will (or does) icecast support multicast streaming? how to set up a Vorbis server
Hi-- I'd like to stream Vorbis files from an OpenBSD 2.8 box. I followed the instructions at http://i.cantcode.com/~jack/icecast.html (via http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/index.html), and ran aground during the compilation of .../icecast/src/source.c. It needs /usr/include/ogg/{ogg,os_types,config_types}.h; /usr/include/ogg doesn't exist. I gather the directory and files

Adventures with icecast2
Hi all: OK, this is one of those "why doesn't it work" type questions. I'm basically stumped. All the server info in the xml file and example.c seem to match, but it's coming back with an error 3 which is no login (as far as I can understand). There's nothing in the icecast2 logs to show that an attempt has been made. hmmm. It just occured to me that perhaps it's

While we're publicising icecast2 streams...
Hi all: I've had an icecast2 stream up for about a week now and thought I'd tell you all about it. This is a very primitive setup - using icecast2 and libshout on a linux box and using the example program along with a random sort utility to shunt the files to the server. The stream is at 22.05khz mono at the lowest bitrate, meaning it hovers around the 32kbps mark. there are 38 songs

Icecast2 has been up till now in the icecast bitkeeper repository. Jack posted a couple of days ago that it would be moving to the xiph.org CVS.
