Attn Packagers: Dependency change from gstreamer-0.10 to gstreamer >= 1.0
Hi all, The next release of Wine will include a commit which changes our winegstreamer dshow module to use the modern gstreamer 1.0 API instead of the long-deprecated gstreamer 0.10 API. dshow is used by some games and applications, including Microsoft Office, to display videos and play audio. Wine's winegstreamer allows applications that use dshow to support a wide variety of media through

Simple Samba server for "at home" - what do I need and what not?
Hello, after two decades without a dedicated file server at home, it is about time to have Samba. While I am mainly a Linux guy there is a couple of systems that don't find rsync and sshfd adequate. We do have a handfull of standalone Windows 10 machines, a bunch of smartphones and a zoo of home entertainment appliances such as a TV, Sat receivers, IP radios/audio players. In addition to

can't stream Opus in CAF format
Using FFmpeg, I can stream to a file on disk okay: c:\apps\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe -f dshow -i audio="Line In (Realtek High Definition Audio)" -c:a libopus -ac 1 -b:a 32000 live.caf But, if I add Icey metadata, FFmpeg throws errors: c:\apps\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe -f dshow -i audio="Line In (Realtek High Definition Audio)" -c:a libopus -ac 1 -b:a 32000^ -ice_name

Re: Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
Thanks Christian. Now I can play my FLAC files with WiMP. I uninstalled the illuminable package and then installed the Matroska. The result was the opposite that I got for the illuminable: the illuminable package registered the types but WiMP couldn't find the codecs, the Matroska didn't register the types but it did make the codecs available. This is much preferable of course

Attn Packagers: Dependency change from gstreamer-0.10 to gstreamer >= 1.0
Thank you for the hint. Setting PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig before ./configure works for me. smbclient works with IP address but not hostname
Hi All, I've configured a Fedora 20 server with samba to share a few user directories and a printer. From a Windows 8 laptop, I am able to address the samba server by it's name (fs1) From a Fedora 20 client (ws1), I am able to address the samba server by IP address, but not by name. [PATCH] Various website edits
Hi all, One again a few patches that are too large to send directly over the mailing list (because of the blobs, large differences etc.) 1) Removes the russian part of the website, because it is 10 years out of date (FLAC 1.1.0) 2) Gives the website a maximum width, because at large screens it tends to become unreadable 3) Completely overhauls the links pages: new devices that support FLAC

Win32 DLL
I've put together a first cut for a Win32 DLL using the BladeEnc interface. Right now, it's just a drop-in replacement for BladeEnc.dll that ignores all encoding parameters passed to it and uses the info_A vorbis_info struct (same as the encoder_example). It's not particularly useful as of yet, but you can rename it to BladeEnc.dll and use it with any number of rippers out there

Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
At my company we have a bunch of music in FLAC format. We want to play it using the Windows Media Player, but none of us can get the illiminable DS filters to work. Here are some details. Illiminable DS filters http://www.wmplugins.com/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemID=681 http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/ We are using the latest build available on this website, and I have read all the known issues. Problems in flac-website Git files.
1) changelog.html "Add ability to handle utf8 filenames on Windows (large set of patches from Janne Hyv?rinen)" AFAIK Windows internally uses UTF-16LE, not UTF-8. IMHO it's better to use a general word 'Unicode' instead of 'utf8'. 2) documentation_bugs.html "The following are major known bugs in the current (1.2.1) release:" 1.2.1 is not the current

Mediatomb under CentOS-6
Is anyone running mediatomb under CentOS-6? I've installed it from rpmforge.repo (I think it used to be in the epel repository under CentOS-5) but I don't know how to configure it. I'm trying to use it to see photos on my Samsung Smart TV (model D5520). The photos (or some of them) come up on the TV, but when I click on them I always get the error message "Not Supported File

Please let me know what changes do i need to make inside the decoder library

Re: Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
Try this one here instead : http://packs.matroska.org . Get the full pack, it also contains CoreFLAC DirectShow filter. Alternatively, CoreFLAC alone should be found here http://corecodec.org/projects/coreflac ( haven't checked for a while though ), there should also be a DShow encoder coming with it, as well as an ACM plugin for Video for Windows based programs like Virtualdub ( decoder

Lockups with kernel-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686
I updated my home server with the 6.4 CR packages, and I've experienced 3 or 4 hard lockups since. The server is a fanless VIA C7 "CentaurHauls" system with a 1GHz CPU underclocked to 800MHz and 1GB of RAM. It has a dual-port Intel 82546GB NIC in its single PCI slot. (It also has an on-board Realtek RTL-8110SC/8169SC NIC that is plugged in, but doesn't currently have an IP
