Expanding upon expand.grid()
Hello All: The function expand.grid() does nearly exactly what I want for permutation tests I wish to carry out, and it does so quickly when the number is kept small as in the example below: expand.grid(rep(list(c(-1, 1)), 3)) Var1 Var2 Var3 1 -1 -1 -1 2 1 -1 -1 3 -1 1 -1 4 1 1 -1 5 -1 -1 1 6 1 -1 1 7 -1 1 1 8 1 1 1 Understandably,

libFLAC optimizations request
Hello all I am using libFLAC in a corner application, compressing *a lot* of small signals. First is a general question: in our application we have signals in range 5-10 MHz, potentially 40MHz! Is there any potential problem with that?? The mac sample rate is limited in flac, but it doesn't really seem to be a problem. The output is stored as blob in a sqlite database, it *never *needs to be

libFLAC optimizations request
Correction, the flac command-line does create a 40-byte Vorbis comment by default. I just never noticed it before. I’ve been using —no-padding all these years for minimal file sizes without realizing that I could save another 40 bytes. Anyway, since metaflac can remove the Vorbis comment using the standard library, then you should be able to create a solution without modifying libFLAC. Brian

Decoding Type=Independent
Hello, I am new to the list, to FLAC and to FLAC development but I am having a problem in trying to make FLAC work with MediaMVP based the mvpmc project (ref. http://www.wvpmc.org) that hopefully someone can help me with. This device is possibly minimum spec. for a FLAC decoder. In any case, I have had some success cross-compiling libFLAC (without the ogg or metadata modules).for the embedded

multi-channel / ambisonics
when i encode i multi channel file, does flac encode every channel seperatly or does is look for similarities between channels? the documentation says: INTER-CHANNEL DECORRELATION In the case of stereo input, once the data is blocked it is optionally passed through an inter-channel decorrelation stage. The left and right channels are converted to center and side channels through the following

system-config-display wrongly sets up Viewsonic VG730m monitor
I originally set up this monitor with an analogue lead. Everything seemed fine, so I didn't check xorg.conf at all. Then I bought a digital lead, and since then the monitor blinks. Running system-config-display identifies it as a 1280 x 1084 CRT monitor. It is an LCD monitor. That model is not on the drop-down list, so assuming that a specific driver wasn't available for it, I

Standard encoding rates?
On Tue, Apr 05, 2005 at 08:26:45AM -0700, Ralph Giles wrote: > AM radio is lower quality (mono) but I don't know > what the digital equivalent would be. Just a minor nit-pick: AM radio can be stereo. However its use is almost nonexistent. See <http://users.hfx.eastlink.ca/~amstereo/amstereo.htm> for more information. > Telephone is nominally 8 kHz mono > (i.e. really bad)

Standard encoding rates?
Is there a list somewhere of "standard" encoding rates? I know, for example, CDs are encoded at 44100, as is a lot of digital sound, but I've seen programs that specify different levels of quality (like radio, phone, tape, CD) and I'd like to know if there are some encoding rates that are accepted as standardized for recording at different levels of quality. If so, is there

[PATCH 0/5] Thermal management fixes
From: Martin Peres <martin.peres at labri.fr> This patchset is mostly about fixing fdo bug #66177, reported by Dash Four. This bug is about fan/temp management not working after a suspend/resume cycle. Fan/therm management relies on ptimer's alarm feature to call periodically multiple callbacks that poll the temperature and update the fan speed if needed. The problem is that there is

help with x config on centos 5.1
Hi all, Typically I dont have issues with configuring X. However this time its an issue. I have an NVIDIA graphics card trying to do 1920x1080. If I configure the screen by hand with the nvidia config utility it works at 1920x1080. However when I reboot its 800x600. When I use the nvidia config utility to set 1920x1080 then save the xorg.conf file, and reboot (yes I copied /tmp/xorg.conf to
