FLAC: general question
Ivo, Harry is asking about CPU usage of the DEcoder, not the ENcoder. And I believe FLAC is designed to use as little CPU as possible for decoding, thereby encouraging hardware manufacturers to include FLAC support. Encoding, however, is another matter, always done on a computer, and requiring a good measure of CPU. Greg M. --- Ivo Emanuel Gon?alves <justivo@gmail.com> wrote: > The

FLAC: track and album gain?

You change the volume of the audio tracks, so isn't this lossy or does the actual volume

FLAC: decoding to WAV in the future
What Brian Willoughby means is that even though the future is uncertain, you may trust FLAC. The format is mature enough so that you won't see major changes preventing playback of files encoded by older encoders, but even if that comes to happen, the playback libraries on most software will be backwards-compatible, and FLAC is lossless meaning that you may convert FLAC 1.1.4 to a possible

FLAC: track and album gain?
Hi, I'm a FLAC beginner and I had a question about the meaning of track and album gain. I think it's a stupid question, but hey, I must learn it somewhere ;) So I wanted to know what track and album gain means. I use winamp for playing my encoded FLAC files and when I look at the properties of a FLAC file I can see this: track gain: not present album gain: not present So I was

Burn flac to cd

Surely it would be possible to have something apply the ReplayGain to the WAV after decoding and prior to writing them to CD... but I don't know

I believe you can do this with Ogg FLAC. The Ogg container manages the multiple FLAC streams. Theoretically, we'll never see limit

5.1 surround channel coupling
It obviously would be nice to have such a mode available, for e.g. DVD audio compression. Apparently, the list doesn''t tell me too much about it. My questions are: 1. What is the current status of the 5.1 channel coupling in Vorbis? 2. If I''ll be interested in participation in its development, what is the recommended reading? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

FLAC: headphones
hi flac list! I'm not sure if this question can be asked here, but here you go (it's a question for audiophiles only): I encode CDDA tracks to FLAC and play them on my Pocket PC (PDA). I'm looking for a high quality headphone to connect to my Pocket PC, but it must be an in-ear one but not like these: http://s7d1.scene7.com/is/image/vanns/770045336?$medium_item$ So no plastic things

What is the magic code for Ogg FLAC?
Hello, I just noticed that ogginfo is not properly detecting Ogg FLAC files. To fix the issue I will need to know what is the correct magic for Ogg FLAC and how big are the packet bytes. Please advise. -Ivo
