FLAC: getting compression level using metaflac
Why isn't the compression level added in a metadata block by the flac encoder itself (just like the encoder version)? In this way all programs that read the file can see what compression level was used. thx 2007/7/4, Scot Thompson <scot.thompson@cox.net>: > > This has been asked many times. The answer is no. FLAC: compression silence frames
hi, I was wondering how perfect silence frames (no audio at all) in a PCM stream are encoded by the flac encoder. Suppose I have a PCM audio file with some perfect silence frames in the beginning and at the end of the audio recording and suppose I have the same audio file but without the silence frames in the beginning and at the end (so the second file is identical except for the silence frames

flac vs. mp3 decoder
hi I was wondering if Josh could tell me what the difference between the cpu load (in %) of a flac vs. mp3 encoder is on the same cpu or an estimation of it . I want to have an idea of this because I'm wondering if playing flac files would use more cpu (in %) then playing mp3 files on my pocket pc. So if I would know this, I would know which decoder will empty my battery the most quickly.

hi, Can anybody tell me what the maximum filesize is for an image file to be included in a FLAC file? I'm just exploring this feature and I didn't find this yet PS: Does anybody know why there are so little programs that actually support the viewing of embedded pictures? I only found 2 of them: Amarok in linux and foobar in windows. thx in advance! -------------- next part

Rick, Mark asked "why" you want the least amount of compression. I think we still do not understand your goals. If you can give us a hint at what you're trying to accomplish in your search for the least amount of compression, that might help us find the right answer. FLAC: editing software
I just tried this with Goldwave.. it decoded the file, i edited out some stuff, and saved the file (flac format) and the tags appear to be intact. yes I know I can do that, but my question is if there is software to edit FLAC files without having to uncompress to WAV/recompress to FLAC. 2007/7/23, Avuton Olrich <avuton@gmail.com>: > > On 7/23/07, Harry Sack <tranzedude@gmail.com> wrote: > > hi > > > > does somebody know software for editing FLAC files? symbolic linking to library files
I handle SysAdmin for a multi-user Linux box, with R 2.7.1 compiled and installed to make usee of ACML (Opteron chips). The library files (packages) are installed to /usr/local/lib64/R/library Everything works as it should, except for the following. Say I have a user (an R developer) who has developed a package called Blaster. We'll call the user guru. Now, /home/guru/Blaster, contains the

creative VoIP blaster & *
Ok, I've googled for 15+ minutes, and have yet to find a usable answer, so I'm going to annoy everyone and ask here. I have, in my posession, a creative VoIP blaster. I have installed the fobbit LKM and I can see the device. Can I use it with asterisk in any meaningful way, shape, or form? I'd love to be able to buy an IP phone, ATA, or FXO card, but lack the funds at the moment

After looking at Gnome meeting it does not talk unless you have a quicknet card for it. Can I make calls using asterisk and the digium cards to the Voip blaster. ie. From PSTN to through the X100P through * into the Voip Blaster. (Voip Blaster

fitting lots of music into 10GB with Vorbis
Hi- just wondering, what would be the best quality rating to use to fit lots of music into 10GB of HD space. The audio quality has to be high enough for it to sound good when played through PA systems (for when my college is stupid enough to forget to hire a DJ, or when the realise the DJ they always hire can't use a mixing desk properly) ranging from a functional PA system thats stuck in the
