Re: Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
Thanks Christian. Now I can play my FLAC files with WiMP. I uninstalled the illuminable package and then installed the Matroska. The result was the opposite that I got for the illuminable: the illuminable package registered the types but WiMP couldn't find the codecs, the Matroska didn't register the types but it did make the codecs available. This is much preferable of course

Try this one here instead : http://packs.matroska.org . Get the full pack, it also contains CoreFLAC DirectShow filter. Alternatively, CoreFLAC alone should be found here http://corecodec.org/projects/coreflac ( haven't checked for a while though ), there should also be a DShow encoder coming with it, as well as an ACM plugin for Video for Windows based programs like Virtualdub ( decoder

vorbis.com
Whoever is responsible for updating vorbis.com, I think it's about time the old and outdated Tobias DirectShow filters were removed from the Windows section and replaced with http://www.illiminable.com/ogg. This supports playing Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Speex, Ogg Theora, Ogg FLAC and native FLAC in Windows. The following website should also be updated but I'm not sure who submitted it.

Directshow filters update - 0.66.8063
Another update to these filters... www.illiminable.com/ogg/ Here's the chagnes... * FLAC can now be muxed into a multi-stream file. * Now supports both the new Ogg FLAC (1.1.1) and the old Ogg FLAC (still not native FLAC) * Fixed the explorer problem by removing the offending registry key at installation * Removed a heap of memory leaks, WMP should run a fair bit leaner now * Some internal

New Directshow filters preview...
I have been developing some directshow filters for ogg, and vorbis and speex... currently i have an ogg demux filter and a speex/vorbis decoding filter. In this pre-release only vorbis is operational... but the speex decoder is pretty much done... i jsut need to tweak the demux filter so that it can negotiate a speex connection with the other filter. Just though some people might find them useful

Streaming With Flac
We have FLAC support on our AudioReQuest products, and we allow streaming from our built-in web server for MP3s, but can not get Flac working. Does anyone know a Windows based player that will play FLAC streams? I have tried the Winamp plug-in for FLAC (even updated it to 1.1.0), but streaming is not working. We use embedded id3 tags instead of Flac comments if this means anything. Thanks

Directshow filters 0.64.7878
Updated again... theora works and seeks properly (not to keyframe) in WMP 9 and 10. You can encode from a bunch of onew input types like RGB32, RGB24, IYUV etc. And fixed a bug that was stopping the filters being used in a activeX control in an IE browser. www.illiminable.com/ogg/ Enjoy, Zen.

illiminable.com down
It seems the illiminable.com domain has expired and the link from www.vorbis.com to the directshow filters is dead as result. Are compiled versions hosted anywhere else? -- imalone

Company needing an ogg/vorbis programmer for contract work.
Hi guys. I hope this isn't too off-topic for this list... I work for a company that is currently using ogg/vorbis in their audio software product as one of several possible encodings. We want to add some new functionality to the software that will require a little specialist coding from someone who knows the ogg codebase. Specifically, we need a library to provide vorbis file

serving speex without a server
On my personal web pages hosted by my ISP I have a collection of speex files with names ending, as usual, in '.spx'. My ISP does not provide for scripting or CGI but thanks to the "Home-Brew Streaming" idea of Dr Tak Auyeng, www.drtak.org/teaches/ARC/speex/, my friends with Windows XP can listen to such a recording without the need for a prior download of the whole file and

FLAC Plug-in for Windows Media Player?
I was wondering if there is a FLAC plugin for Windows Media Player? Just from doing web-searches, it doesn't look like there is, at least as far as I can tell. So, if there isn't a plug-in for WMP, well, why isn't there? And is there anyone working on one? I'm a programmer, though I've never done any WMP programming. But, I would think it wouldn't be too hard to do a

[Flac-users] FLAC in the news
FYI, Unless you've been checking the FLAC site you might have missed some encouraging things that have happened in the last few months. I haven't really been announcing things in the lists along the way, but to summarize: - Primus and Phish have been selling soundboard recordings of shows in FLAC - Magnatune (an indie label) offers their whole catalog in FLAC and Vorbis now - More
