Problem decoding .flac files
I've been having problems with Amarok and K3B, but I think it comes down
to a problem with flac. All my music and audio files are encoded in
flac format. I've ripped my CDs using KAudioCreator and using this
command to encode them (split for formatting):
flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%{artist} --tag=Album=%{albumtitle}
--tag=Date=%{year} --tag=Title=%{title}

replacing ACELP encoding with speex
Hi all,
I'm to hit about aprox the same encoding settings (ie bitrate, filesize,
quality) with talk radio shows that are currently encoded with Real
Producer in 16kbit acelp (maybe cs-acelp).
Currently 2 hours of talk radio encoded in a .rm container yields about
16.3 meg file. With speex in wideband vbr I'm getting very good quality
results, but with a larger filesize of 19.1 meg.

oggenc and Encoding with VBR
Apologies if this is know. But I've spent most of today Googling for a way
to get this working, and to me, something is wrong here. But it might well
be me. Anyway...
I've been trying to record direct from the soundcard into an ogg file.
I came up with
rawrec -t 10 | oggenc -r -Q -q 5 - > foo.ogg
which partially works. ogg123 will play it, but ogginfo reports

MP3 decoding, fading and streaming at the same time
Hi There,
I have just ported to Linux a program that I wrote years ago in Prolog
under DOS to automate our Shortwave radio station. Back in 1990 the
original program used ADPCM coded audio files and a special board. Now I
can use MP3 files and a Soundblaster compatible card ;-) under Linux, and
it runs from a console without any fancy interface. I absolutely need to
fade-in and fade-out

Ices host hangup with icecast2.2kh9 on server host
Hi,
I have the following config;
4 ices hosts, ices-kh60
2 are streaming to icecast2.1kh5 server.
2 are streaming to icecast2.2kh9 server.
The 2 hosts streaming to icecast2.2kh9 are crashing (machine crash...)
twice a week.
I was thinking of hardware problem, but it think it's not the case.
To feed ices, I use:
rawrec | ices
Which I found very sensitive and may cause machine handup if

Standard encoding rates?
Is there a list somewhere of "standard" encoding rates? I know, for example,
CDs are encoded at 44100, as is a lot of digital sound, but I've seen
programs that specify different levels of quality (like radio, phone, tape,
CD) and I'd like to know if there are some encoding rates that are accepted
as standardized for recording at different levels of quality.
If so, is there

Flac Files Messed Up By Amarok
A while back I posted about issues with flac files that were not able to
be decoded. Here's what I do know:
I've ripped most of my collection to my hard drive using KAudioCreator
and I've specified that they be stored in flac format. All files play
without trouble through Amarok. I found out there was a problem when I
had selected files in a playlist and picked "burn"

Encoding Streaming Audio -- Possible?
I've been reading the info on Sourceforge about Flac, but there's one thing
I'm not clear about (and it looks like Flac may not support this yet).
Before I installed it, I wanted to know if Flac would do what I need.
I want to be able to record shows on the radio (I have a radio hooked up to my
Soundblaster Live!). From what I've read, Flac doesn't do that, since it

playlist module causing machine hangup
Hello,
I had a big trouble with ices (ices-2kh60).
It is reading a playlist file containing "-" to tell "read stdin".
But I think that when stdin is having problem, then ices become mad. It
tries hundreds of time per second to play the playlist file content,
generating huge amount of traces, which are rotated, but causing a
denial of service on the server which become

Ogg encoding longer than 203 minutes?
Hi,
I'm trying to record something for about 24 hours but oggenc tells me that I have 203m remaining.

*Real* real time streaming (no delay/latency)?
Hello
Does anyone have experience with _real_ real time streaming - i.e. with
very little delay/latency?
I need to stream from point A to point B in near-CD quality via a 100
Mbit network. That is easily done using icecast. But here is the tricky bit:
I want as little delay in the signal as possibble - preferrably below 50ms!
I have made a test setup encoding on and serving from an 800 MHz

Encoding/decoding Ogg Vorbis .NET library?
Hey list,
I think the subject pretty much sums it up. Is anyone working on a
(pure) .NET library that decodes and possibly encodes Ogg Vorbis?
Take care,

transmit it into my local network.I want to ask you for you help,if you can
tell me a solution for this(preferably,non-GUI solution).
