[Flac-users] troubles with 1.0.3 beta4 front-end
When you maximize the window, the position of the Fingerprint button doesn't adjust; the Help function still scrolls the first two screenfuls together without a break, so that the first screenful is impossible to read; not sure how, but the first time I tried it, it locked up and couldn't close (needed a three-finger salute). This is under WindowsME on a vintage 1998 266MHz Pentium II.

Back & Fourth
So let me get this straight... I can put a CD in my computer and copy it to my hard drive as a wav files. Then by using FLAC to "compress" said wavs into .flac files. Resulting in approx. half the file size. Then later I can convert the FLAC files back to wav and the end up with the EXACT wav file I had before ? If this is the case, then great, but can you really cut out half the

EAC + FLAC bitrate question?
This is more of an EAC question, but I have not yet received an answer from my post on that page. Since they are closely related I thought I would give it a try here. I just bought a BIG stack of CDs (70+) and decided to recheck all of my EAC (beta 4) + FLAC (1.1.2) settings prior to ripping and encoding them. I also calibrated a new external Plextor CD-ROM too. The setting string I use in

FLAC: editing software
I just tried this with Goldwave.. it decoded the file, i edited out some stuff, and saved the file (flac format) and the tags appear to be intact. oggenc broken for some types of WAV files
Hello, I have found that there are some WAV files which have a "fmt" chunk size greater then 16 bytes (length indicator greater then 16). The patch is attached. What is the normal method for submiting patches? Regards, Chris Wolf <HR NOSHADE> <UL> <LI>application/octet-stream attachment: audio.c.patch </UL> -------------- next part -------------- A non-text

[Flac-users] osx 1.0.4
on this topic... i configured and built 1.0.4 in osx 10.2. seemed to build fine, but each time i attemped to use the newly compiled flac binary I received this error "bus error" i nabbed the binaries for 1.0.3 and, each time i use flac to compress something in tests, i receive this error when it is done compressing a file: "WARNING: skipping unknown sub-chunk

Java?
I'd be happy to (help) port the source to Java. How many lines of code are we talking? If preferable, I could just do a front-end to a JNI interface to flac. -Brian > -----Original Message----- > From: Josh Coalson [mailto:xflac@yahoo.com] > > --- "Cracauer, David D." <dcracauer@vue.com> wrote: > > Are there any plans for flac for java (JNI or

EAC: Ogg-on-the-fly?
I was wondering, is there a way to encode Oggs with EAC on-the-fly? I'm looking for a way to shorten the whole ripping and encoding process, but so far I've only seen support for the commandline encoder. -- GMX - Die Kommunikationsplattform im Internet. http://www.gmx.net <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

New beta bug reports/bug report
Hi. Joined the list since this seems to be the only point of communication. Just have two comments/questions. 1) I looked all around the developer's site and vorbis.com and don't see any mention of where to send bug reports for 1.0 beta. I'd think it would be a FAQ. 2) My bug for the new beta. (I'm hoping someone of the PTB is reading ... I definitely don't belong on the

[Flac-users] viewing the fingerprint?
An enthusiastic FLAC user on another list to which I subscribe said that FLAC has a function to display on screen the stored fingerprint that a FLAC file has of its source WAV. That sounds wonderful, because it allows a user to see whether two differing FLAC files might come from the same WAV but have been compressed with different sets of options, and therefore they would decompress to identical

Copying (Samba -> WinXP SP2) MATLAB generated .jpg files very slow.
Greetings, This is a interesting problem. One of our researchers uses MATLAB to generate jpg files as part of his vision research. When he copies these files from the file server, it is very slow. I tried 3.0.28a and I see the same problem as we have with 3.0.28. Here are some interesting stats. 1) MATLAB generated files: command: robocopy Y:\23_1 C:\23_1 /e dirs: 2 files: 262 bytes:

Risk of readRDS() not detecting race conditions with parallel saveRDS()?
I hardly know anything about the format used in (non-compressed) serialization/RDS, but hoping someone with more knowledge could give me some feedback; Consider two R processes running in parallel on the same unknown file system. Both of them write and read to the same RDS file foo.rds (without compression) at random times using saveRDS(object, file="foo.rds", compress=FALSE) and

Why are has_one objects resaved when the parent is saved?
If the associated object of a has_one association has been loaded, it is resaved when the parent is saved. Eg: class Person < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :user end class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :person end p = Person.find(:first) p.save # As expected, nothing happens with the user association p.user # Loads the associated object p.save # As well as saving the person, the
