Thankyou guys.

D'oh! Have been RTFM'ing an awful lot lately, but I completely missed that
flac has an --ogg switch

Ogg Format
Hello Tim
I am referring to the following file
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sample_of_%22Another_Day_in_Paradise%22.ogg
I opened the file in a HEX editor. I do not see the string OpusHead in the
packet. It starts with Oggs. Also checking the occurrence of Oggs, I see
that the first packet has BOS, the next all (except last) have 00 (which is
not defined in the RFC as continuation) and

Hello Tim, Jean-Marc
Thanks for the clarification. Let me study the sample OPUS file and see if
my understanding is now clarified.

Opus now supported at Magnatune
This seemed to be the best place to let you guys know....
Magnatune.com's entire catalog is now downloadable in Opus format, with full metadata (small and large cover art) at 128k stereo.
A few comments:
1) I'm really impressed by your metadata implementation. It's very cleanly done, and the multiple artwork idea is fantastic. One suggestion: I couldn't find an example in the

Opus now supported at Magnatune

My mistake, I didn't read the man page carefully enough, which does state this:

Issue with decoding 8-bit PCM data
Hello Ralph,

Two questions
1. In opusenc.c which API does the extending the 8-bit to 16-bit?
2. If that is the case then how will 24 bit PCM sample work?

Is it possible to retrieve the last error? (not error *message*)
Hi,
at the R prompt, is it possible to retrieve the last error (as in
condition object of class "error")?
I'm not asking for geterrmessage(), which only returns the error
message (as a character string). I'm basically looking for a
.Last.error or .Last.condition, analogously to .Last.value for values,
which can be used when it is "too late" (not possible) to go back

I just can't seem to get winbind to work on my BDC. I'm using FC3 and
samba 3.0.20rc2. My PDC is RHEL4 running Samba 3.0.14a. / Openldap.
I can join the BDC to the domain successfully using "net rpc join..." ,
but when i enter wbinfo -t to check the trust relationship i get
checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed
error code was (0x0)

Issue with decoding 8-bit PCM data
Hello All
I have successfully run the Opus Decoder for 16-bit WAV files. However when
doing the same on 8-bit, the decoder produces noise, but on 16 bit data the
output is working. Both the 8 and 16 bit files are from the same source and
hence except for some loss of quality on 8 bit, they are identical in total
play back duration.
For both 8 and 16 bit data I have used the following parameters

Using PAM - Logging into Linux using an NT Domain account
Hello Samba Users,
I work for the IT Department of a small company and we've already replaced
our NT4 File Servers with Linux servers running Samba. We'd like to replace
some of our windows workstations also. It would be really cool if employee's
could log into the Linux workstations using their existing NT accounts !
Has anybody had much luck using winbind and PAM to allow log on to

samba-3.0.20pre2 rpms very BIG
Hi,
I just downloaded the fedora samba-3.0.20pre2 source rpm. I built the
binary RPM's using the rpmbuild -bb samba-spec command. I hav'nt
installed the new rpm's yet but noticed they are much bigger than
previous rpms. see below:

on abort error, always show call stack?
Dear R Wizards---is it possible to get R to show its current call
stack (sys.calls()) upon an error abort? I don't use ESS for
execution, and it is often not obvious how to locate how I triggered
an error in an R internal function. Seeing the call stack would make
this easier. (right now, I sprinkle "cat" statements everywhere, just
to locate the line where the error appears.) Of

Excel 'Document not saved' Error when using SMB2 Protocol
Hi Samba Users,
I'm in the process of building a Samba4 CTDB /GPFS Cluster joined as a
member server to AD that also supports ACL's .
It has taken some time but almost everything is working now :) . My one
outstanding issue is editing files using Excel 2007 on Windows 7 results in
a 'Document not saved' error. I believe this is an issue with the SMB2
protocol as I can edit the same

The 'nobody' account (mapping not found for gidNumber: 99)
Hi,
I am using a samba domain controller with an LDAP backend. I am also
using samba domain controllers with this setup similar to those
described in the 'Domain Members, Updating Samba and Migration' chapter
of the Samba By Example book.
On the domain member servers winbind stores the UID<->SID in the Idmap
section of the directory. This appears to be working correctly, however

Exchange 5.5 on a Samba Domain
Hi,
I recently migrated from an NT4 Domain to a Samba domain with LDAP
backend. We use Exchange 5.5 on NT4 as our mail/groupware.
All existing users on the domain appear to be using the Exchange Server
without any problems. However, when i create new users they cannot
access their mail box'es from Outlook. The Event log on the Exchange
Server reports the following error :
