Using FLAC encoder in my software
Hello
I'm the developer of the newly released FM Composer, an open source music
software featuring a tracker and an FM synthesizer : http://fmcomposer.org
It's currently under GPL v3.
I've added a FLAC export feature for the next version to be released, using
libFLAC. I'm not really sure about what I can do, even after reading the
copyright notice...
- Should I use libFLAC as

better seeking
When I was trying to find yesterday's xmms-plugin bug, i have noticed
that seeking in stream without seek-table isn't very good. With
attached patch it is much better.

En/decoding 32bit Integer Formats
Hi,
What exactly is the reason why libFlac and/or the FLAC command-line
en/decoder currently
doesn't support 32bit integer samples?
The comment in "FLAC/format.h" -> of
FLAC__REFERENCE_CODEC_MAX_BITS_PER_SAMPLE notes that
the FLAC format supports 32bit, but the reference en/decoders
currently do not. Does
this mean that libFlac or just the commandline tool is limited to 24

better seeking
Ok, the patch from 2003 about improving seeking still didn't make it
to CVS, so here is another try.
I made some benchmarking with the test_seeking utility from flac
sources to show how bad the current seeking is, especially without
seektable. Track used for the experiment had about 50 minutes.
In the following table is average number of seeks and number of
decoded frames required for one

thanks
I received this bug report from a Debian user. I can't think of any reason
offhand why the command line tool would work while the xmms plugin would
fail.

Question: MSVS 2005/2008 support?
By default, FLAC requires ogg library. Support of old versions of
Visual Studio was removed from libogg code about 2 years ago:
https://git.xiph.org/?p=ogg.git;a=commit;h=18c401c6bc8814d06f3ae53ebf5d4399f90871cc
libogg 1.3.3 (released 2017-11-07) cannot be built with MSVS 2005/2008 anymore.
Are there any developers that want to use libFLAC in their programs
and still use Visual Studio 2005 or

Encoder example for 24-bit files
Hi,
In the last days I've been taking as reference the example found in
examples/c/encode/file/main.c. With it I've been able to encode a 2ch,
16 bps, 44100 sample rate input WAV file to a FLAC file.
Now I've been trying to modify this example to encode a 2ch, 24 bps,
96000 sample rate WAV file. I have to say I'm a bit lost on how I
should read the input file in this case, and

What happens if you change the definitions of s8buffer[] and ucbuffer_[]
arrays as follows:

debugging the bits_per_sample and channels metadata in FLAC
I encountered what I think is a bug in labFLAC_static release that's
driving me nuts.
I compile the FLAC libraries in debug mode on ARMV4 (ported) and it
works fine
I compile the FLAC libraries in release mode on ARMV4 (ported) and no
FLAC files play

stream_encoder: 32 vs 64 bit accumulator
Another interesting comment is inside src/libFLAC/include/private/fixed.h:
"The _wide() version uses 64-bit integers which is statistically necessary
when bits-per-sample + log2(blocksize) > 30"
I mean the word "statistically".
libFLAC uses FLAC__fixed_compute_best_predictor_wide()
if "bits_per_sample + FLAC__bitmath_ilog2(blocksize)+1 > 30" is true

Reg. FLAC decoding
I'm using seekable_stream_decoder, And., this is my write_callback. I'm
not getting the required output. The PCM i get is not the proper music.
Am I doing something wrong here?
