MS DevStudio 6.0 and directory case problems.
Hello, Ordinarily, I would search the archives, but they seem to be down at the moment. I am having some problems with Microsoft's Visual C++ 6.0 with a Samba server running on an SGI IRIX machine. The problem: The UNIX directory structure on our IRIX machine contains mixed case names. (say /usr/PROJECT/Build) I've noticed that DevStudio changes the directory name to all lower case

Dear Shorewall Users, having noticed that the request for a WebGUI is growing, after a very short conversation I''ve had with Tom, I''d like to let you all evaluate the Web interface to Shorewall I''ve written, integrating the original weblet package made available for the LRP project. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preamble

Problem report -- shorewall 1.4
Hello list, I wish to report a problem with openvpn tunnels. Synopsis: Despite adding policies to the shorewall policy file, I have to add extra rules to allow the UDP port 5000 packets to get through. I have used no particular setup guide. I believe this problem goes away with shorewall 2.0.9, as I have implemented openvpn with that version on a different machine, and I see no UDP:5000 packet

Syslinux 1.75, LEAF Bering 1.2, Compaq 2266
I have been using the LEAF Bering firewall for a year or so. It boots with Syslinux 1.75. But Bering is too large for a 1440KB floppy, so it formats the diskette as 1680KB. Recently I found a small Compaq 2266 box to replace a larger Compaq 7170 to run the firewall. But when I try to boot the Bering diskette on the 2266 I get the following message: Loading Linux ............ Boot failed:

Re: Grub to Syslinux
>That should work, *IF*: > >a) hda5 is a FAT12/16 filesystem; >b) hda5 is <= cyl 1024. > > -hpa I got thinking booting off a logical partition might not be allowed, so I changed the LEAF/Bering logical partition to a primary, hda4. Then I ran "syslinux d:" from a Win98SE DOS-box to (try to) initialize the partition's boot record. And added this from a

Clarification on generic functions and methods
I have constructed the following functions and need a little clarification: ### function to fit the model parameters jml.fit <- function(dat, con = 1e-3, bias=FALSE, ...){ do stuff ... } ### default function which calls jml.fit jml.default <- function(dat, con = 1e-3, bias=FALSE, ...){ result <- jml.fit(dat, con = 1e-3, bias) result$call <- match.call() class(result) <-

RE: Does anyone know a PPPoE Server for Bering?
Does anyone know a PPPoE Server for Bering ? I don''t know anything about Bering (a quick search shows an Internet Firewall device and Floppy distro...) but anyways; I have had luck with RP-PPPoE (http://www.roaringpenguin.com/products/rp-pppoe/) which does include a PPPoE server. I have my pppd patched to support RADIUS so that it can talk to my FreeRadius rig in the testing lab.... IF

Upnp ( linux-igd) on bering
Hi, I''m trying let the windows clients behind my leaf ( bering rc4) talk through msn messenger. I found linux-igd.sourceforge.net that seems to be the missing piece... I used the ideas from www.wix.net.nz/LEAF/glibc.html to build a leaf cd using the redhat 7.3 glibc ( It''s alot easier to test applications because I can simply copy the binary ( and the .so) on the bering

[LLVMdev] Yasm ASM printer
Hi, I've finally got my Yasm instruction printer sorted, and I was wondering if it is something the community would want? With it, it means you can take LLVM IR and generate a .S that can be assembled using Yasm to a window's OBJ for inclusion in normal DevStudio projects. The change set isn't large, but I am unsure of the repercussions of the changes I made. Cheers Matthew

URGENT: Shorewall Security Vulnerability
Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña has discovered an exploitable vulnerability in the way that Shorewall handles temporary files and directories. The vulnerability can allow a non-root user to cause arbitrary files on the system to be overwritten. LEAF Bering and Bering uClibc users are generally not at risk due to the fact that LEAF boxes do not typically allow logins by non-root users. For 2.0

MiscPsycho Package 1.0
I have just submitted MiscPsycho to CRAN. MiscPsycho contains functions for miscellaneous psychometrics that may be useful for applied psychometricians. MML estimation already exists in the ltm package. Hence, a jml option is provided for users who prefer this method. The jml function gives back rasch difficulties and the same Infit and Outfit statistics as Winsteps. Also, jml is known to return

Slight OT
Thought some of you might find this useful. http://www.robertgraham.com/pubs/firewall-seen.html This document explains what you see in firewall logs, especially what port numbers means. You can use this information to help figure out what hackers are up to. This document is intended for both security-experts maintaining corporate firewalls as well as home users of personal firewalls.

I've defined the following for objects of a class called jml summary.jml <- function(object, ...){ tab <- cbind(Estimate = coef(object), StdError = object$se, Infit = object$Infit, Outfit = object$Outfit) res <- list(call = object$call, coefficients = tab, N = nrow(object$Data), iter = object$Iterations) class(res) <- "summary.jml" res }

FTP server not on port 21 problems - I do have read the FAQ
Hi! I use standard Bering 2.2.2. I am trying to get my FTP-server to work with another portnumber than 21 (On port 21 all works great, but I´m really interested in running two FTP-servers, so I want to figure this one out first). Read the FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FTP.html and now I got this setup: In Rules: DNAT net loc:192.168.3.2 tcp 99 In Shorewalls modules.conf (tried

The community
It occurred to me over the last few days that in fact I hadn''t been a model ShoreWall Citizen so I went to the site and visited this link for inspiration: http://www.cityofshoreline.com/about/history/index.html Here I was reminded of just how open source communities are suppose to work. Just like the early beginnings of Shoreline, Tom has brought together many scattered settlements
