PATCH for replaygain_synthesis
The file src/share/replaygain_synthesis/include/private/fast_float_math_hack.h redefines 'tanh' as 'tanhf'. This file is intended for Intel Compiler only, but it includes outdated mathf.h and doesn't work with current versions of ICC. The fixes are trivial though, and I compiled 2 versions of flac.exe: with this 'hack' turned off an on. The difference in decoding speed

PATCH for replaygain_synthesis
I've not benchmarked to know if their is any real benefit, but changing the include in fast_float_math_hack.h to <mathimf.h> is all that is required to use the latest ICC. Compiling static libFLAC.a still requires libogg.dylib
Thanks for the reply. I would very much like OGG container support, so disabling it isn't really an option. I have built OGG so that it creates a libogg.a, libogg.0.dylib and a symbolically linked libogg.dylib (that links to the libogg.0.dylib) file. If I remove the .dylib files in an attempt to 'encourage' the compiler to use libogg.a, then it complains that it can't find the

More than 8 channels possible?
Hello, First, thanks a lot for FLAC. A few questions. Apologies if this is not the right forum or if these questions have come up before; the SourceForge archive search didn't turn up anything. 1. Would it be possible for FLAC to support more than 8 channels? 2. If (1) is not desirable because it would break compatibility or some such, then is it possible to build a local copy

A small PATCH for replaygain_synthesis

FIxed rest of cast-align warnings
Hi all, In commit 3eb4094b859 I think I have fixed all the cast-align warnings. I have tested this in amd64/Linux (little endian) and powerpc64/Linux (big endian) and it passed all tests (including the new MD5 tests). I also did a little performance testing on amd64/Linux with a one hour long stereo WAV file and could not find any mesasurable difference between the old and the new code. I

[PATCH 0/5] update build system
This patch series modernizes various aspects of the autotools based build system. There is a lot more that could and should be done, but I tried to stay conservative for now and just resolve some of the most obvious issues. Max Horn (5): configure: replace XIPH_C_FIND_ENDIAN by AC_C_BIGENDIAN autogen.sh: replace this by a simple call to autoreconf configure: always print

Altivec, automake
I think I've gotten FLAC__lpc_restore_signal() about as good as I'm going to get it. Here's what I have: -a new file, lpc_asm.s, which has the assembly routines -changes to cpu.h, cpu.c, and stream_decoder.c to enable them -changes to configure.in to support the new cpu stuff -a preliminary Makefile.am -maybe something else I'm forgetting Now automake complains that configure.in

Altivec, automake
Here's what I listed in that email. Merging doesn't appear to be necessary. If you have any build problems, let me know. Note that my detection code is Darwin-specific. It's a BSD call (sysctl()), so a change to the platform-detection macros should enable it to work on other BSDs. However, I don't know what that would be, and I couldn't determine any safe way to do the check

Using libFLAC++
samples in FLAC are always signed. they must be signed going into the encoder (flac converts unsigned samples to signed) and they come out of the decoder signed. [PATCH 2/5] autogen.sh: replace this by a simple call to autoreconf
The autoreconf tool is provided by autoconf to do what custom autogen.sh scripts in many projects used to do. Only it is more robust and widely tested. It has been available for several years, too. No reason to rely on custom code for this. Signed-off-by: Max Horn <max at quendi.de> --- Makefile.am | 2 - autogen.sh | 168

flac 1.3.0pre3 pre-release
Hi all, The latest pre-release is here: http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/flac/beta/flac-1.3.0pre3.tar.xz but there will probably need to be at least one more. I've tested this on x86_64-linux powerpc-linux i386-openbsd5.2 i386-freebsd9 The majority of changes since the last pre-release is the addition of Janne Hyv?rinen's utf8 I/O functionality. Janne's

Upstreaming Gentoo patches
Dear FLAC devs, I would like to get some of our patches merged into master. Most of them deal with adhering to GNU conventions, respectively not overriding flags/variables that are up to the user to set. For instance, honoring $(htmldir) is important, as we have installation paths for the documentation that differ from what is currently coded in the various Makefile.am's. Regards David
