Shorewall 4.0.0 Beta 4
I''ve uploaded Beta 4. It corrects a bad bug involving exclusion in the hosts file. In addition, it contains the first release of a new Bridge/firewall implementation that uses the reduced-function physdev match found in kernel 3.6.20 and 3.6.21. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \

ipmasq to shoerwall
Hello, Since the ipmasq package has been dropped from debian I decided to migrate to shorewall. My setup is pretty simple: [DSL Modem] -eth0- [shorwall/gateway] -eth1- [local network] ipmasq required that I set the MTU on eth0 to 1492. Migrating to shorewall went well, but a small number of web sites would load slow or not at all. Setting the MTU on eth0 to 1492 and setting CLAMPMSS=Yes

Looking for a Volunteer
The 2.6 kernel series includes Netfilter ''physdev'' match support. That support makes it feasible for Shorewall to support bridge/firewall configurations. I''m looking for early testers of such support. Requirements: a) Willing to run Shorewall 2.0.0-RC1 or later (RC1 will be released in a day or so) plus private updates. b) Running a 2.6 kernel or a 2.4 kernel with

Shorewall 1.4.10 RC1
I''m doing more releases of 1.4.* to try to work around the absurd way in which the 2.6 kernel supports ipsec. 1.4.10 will provide a means for excluding multiple destination hosts/subnets from masquerade/SNAT. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net

More re: Snapshot 20030627
I failed to save the changelog before creating the snapshot -- here it is: Changes since 1.4.5 1) Worked around RH7.3 "service" anomaly. 2) Implemented ''newnotsyn'' interface option. 3) Document range in masq ADDRESS column and suppress ADD_SNAT_ALIASES behavior in that case. 4) Enable ADD_SNAT_ALIASES=Yes for SNAT ranges. 5) Allow Shorewall to add aliases to

Routing all connections through a OpenVPN tunnel
Hi all, I have set up a working OpenVPN2 connection between my Server and my gateway at home. Now I want all traffic to be routed through this VPN connection. Currently everything is going through eth1 to the internet (to the gateway of the University which forwards it to the internet :-). We must use a prox-server and because of this I am not abel to watch the real-Media streams on

2 external IPs on one nic in addition to the regular DMZ and loc nics
I did some looking on the mailing list archives and can''t seem to find exactly what I need, I''m also having troubles figuring this out on my own, so if anyone has any advice, tips, whatever, that would be great. I''ve got a machine with 3 network cards in it, one for a DMZ (with 3 machines on a switch each with a real IP address), one for the local network on a

That has been corrected. 2) The getparams program now reads the installed shorewallrc file rather than ~/.shorewallrc. 3) The ''load'' and ''reload'' now copy the

Public IP issues
I have had Shorewall 2.0.8 up and running for a month or so. Now I need to change some things around. Currently I am running on a private IP scheme and Shorewall is setup based on the 3 interface guide. Now I want to change to a public scheme on my "loc" zone. I have a /24 block of public IP''s. I need my private scheme and public to co-exist so I currently have is eth1 (local)
