[PATCH] virt-v2v: Catch invalid initrd path
In some cases (specifically, SUSE grub2 environments) it is possible to fail to update the block entries in device.map. In turn, this causes an invalid path to be returned in perl-Bootloader code, which causes the conversion to fail with the following message: is_file_opts: is_file: is_file_stub: path must start with a / character This patch prevents the problem by adding device.map (for

[PATCH 4/5][REPOST][BTRFS-PROGS] Avoid to scan cdrom and floppy
Hi all, the commands "btrfs filesystem show" and "btrfs device scan" look at the /dev directory (and it subdirectories) for every block devices. This is a slow process because floppy and cdrom are also checked. Moreover, as highlighted by Helmut, if udev is not used, the /dev directory is populated by high number of non-existant devices, which slow the process. My patch

Server test suite
Hi, I have an interest in software that will allow me to define test suites for servers. We have several thousand Linux systems, and after we build or rebuild each one, we have a checklist. I am trying to automate this checklist, and ideally have it run against all of our servers on a regular basis and report inconsistencies. Is anyone aware of open-source software that will do this, or do I

Checklist for eDirectory back-end?
Aren't Friday's wonderful! I've just been hit up with a request from management to install Samba on our Solaris 8 UNIX servers to share out information to the windows PC's. This wouldn't be an issue if the backend was Windows AD but in our case it's eDirectory. The shares also need to be seamlessly accessible to eDirectory based groups/users without interfering with the

wbinfo -u/-g does not query AD DC
I'm setting up a domain member (Debian Wheezy, Samba 3.6.6) to join an AD DC (Wheezy backports, Samba 4.1.9). Everything looks good so far, in particular the checklist (http://linuxcostablanca.blogspot.com.es/2014/06/samba4-winbind-desperation.html) up to number 7 is okay. I also removed nscd. I can do "kinit user" and I can query the samba LDAP to see domain users. I did a

Hoping to contribute
Hello everyone. My 'wikiname' is JariJaakkola. I have a desire to be able to contribute to the CentOS community in some way. So, I am proposing a page that would be called a 'Newcomer's Checklist'. I feel the location of such page could best be decided by someone else as it would at least depend on the quality/usefulness of the page. Thank you, Jari -- Jari Jaakkola

nmbd appears unresponsive
I am trying to get Samba 3.4.0 (on an Ubuntu 9.10 box) set up as a file server for my home. The router is 10.1.10.1; the Ubuntu box ("chronicles") is 10.1.10.2; the OS X box I'm using for testing purposes ("job") is 10.1.10.3. From job, I can see ports 139 and 445 on chronicles are open. Neither box has 'chronicles' or 'job' listed in its /etc/hosts file.

Prepping for system wipe & reload
Here's the checklist I have so far: 1 - /home partition - separate drive 2 - Files copied to the second drive: /etc/X11/xorg.conf rpm for RPM forge /etc/yum - entire folder /etc/yum/repos.d - entire folder /etc/yum.conf /etc/yumex.conf /etc/yumex.profiles.conf 3 - Files installed via Yum(ex) - Hmmm, need to figure this one out. Any pointers? -- --- David Woyciesjes

permissions problem with adding a machine
I have configured a domain controller in samba 3.0.xxx. I followed the how-to at samba.org and I think I may have missed a step because now when I attempt to add a machine to the domain, I get an error. I am using tdbsam as the user/group store. I ran the net group map to make windows groups to unix groups. I have verified that my administrator users are in group wheel. I do not use the map

Guide to porting to non-unix like systems?
Hi, I'd like to get a rough idea on how much work it would be to port Samba to a non-unix platform. My plan was to use a slimmed-down samba to read and write files on a particularly unfriendly piece of proprietary hardware we use at work. I'm fine with a minimalistic samba as this port would be for internal, single-developer use and not intended for file serving in general. Here are some

Lockup with (none) login
I had a CentOS 5.5 Xen "standard virtualization" install lockup on reboot after an battery backup (apcusbd) orderly shutdown induced by a power outage. It may have been sitting with two kernel updates without a reboot. I have to head to the site (with a fractured ankle), but reports indicate that it is at - (none) login: which only returns back to itself after a user login at

Server cannot share resources
Hi to all of you, Problem occurs while migrating from Windows XP to Linux. My very simple home network is composed of 3 equipments : 1) a "Windows XP" PC with no printer, 2) a "Mandriva Linux One" PC (previously Windows XP) having printer, configured as a Samba Server using Samba-3.0.25b-4.4mdv2008.0 for the "Mandriva Linux One 2008.0" distribution, 3) a

No R 2.15.2 or R 2.15.2 patched version option in bug tracker
When I went to report a (very minor) bug today, I noticed that under the choices for Version, there was no entry for "R 2.15.2" nor "R 2.15.2 patched". I could not find a contact email for the bug tracker itself, so I figured the next best place to send this was r-devel. Perhaps adding new versions to the version choices should also be added to
