Build FLAC source on Mac OS X without Xcode?
Hi,
I have read in an earlier post here on this list, that with Mac OS X Leopard it is now easier to build FLAC from source with Xcode. Because I want to automatically build FLAC from source (i.e. via bash scripting) I am looking for a way to compile it "the unix way" (i.e. via configure, make, make install) without Xcode. So I downloaded the source (v1.2.1), read its accompanying

Build FLAC source on Mac OS X without Xcode?
I don't have time to look through error codes, but I can tell you
that I have always compiled FLAC the Unix way, via the command line.
I have not tried under Leopard, because for maximum compatibility
it's better to compile under Tiger. Either something is wrong with
your particular setup, or perhaps Leopard has changed some things
which has broken FLAC. If you have Tiger

Simple example of decoding streaming audio realtime?
Conrad,
That's exactly what I was looking for. I just got finish trying several attempts at porting libfishsound to XCode/CocoaTouch land but am facing dependency issues on the other xiph libraries. (liboggz, libvorbis, libflac, etc.) Rest assured I know what the issues are and how to address them. I am at a fork here. I can either port the bulk of the xiph libraries to XCode or continue on

I think flac-dev is the perfect place for questions about building
flac. But the answers are probably going to be geared towards the

Compiling 64-bit libFLAC/libFLAC++ on OS X Lion, anyone successful?
I have also asked this question on stackoverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8694676/compiling-64-bit-flac-libflac-in-os-x-lion), which you can answer if you're interested in reputation points.
I am very unfamiliar with compiling C/C++ source of this size, and I'm having trouble debugging the issue. Basically, in the root folder of the FLAC bundle, even if I use the flags

flac-1.1.1 completely broken on linux/ppc and on macosx if built with the standard toolchain (not xcode)
thanks for the feedback, but it would really help if you supply
a patch (diff -c), I didn't understand all the changes you
described.
someone reported a problem with src/libFLAC/include/private/lpc.h
that was fixed in CVS and may fix the problem building with asm

How to compile speex with XCode (for iPhone App)?
Hi,
I'm currently trying to use Speex on the iPhone but have some difficulties to get Speex compiled with XCode. Unfortunately I'm very new to XCode and it would be great if someone could give me a hint what the problem is.
Here is what I did in detail:
1. Downloaded the Source Code speex-1.2rc1.tar.gz from www.speex.org
2. Start Xcode 3.1.4
3. File > New Project ...

[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc 4.2 in Xcode
I'm UNhappy to see the iPhone SDK REQUIRES an expensive iMac computer to
be able freely to develop programs on iPhone/iPod Touch.

I''m working on Michael Hartl''s ruby on rails tutorial
http://ruby.railstutorial.org/ruby-on-rails-tutorial-book#sec-development_tools

I installed Git, updated my OS to 10.8.2 and downloaded XCode 4.5.2.
when I type in
rvm install 1.9.3
this long thing comes up...

OS X FLAC Frameworks + 5.1 channel order
Hi,
First - XiphQT uses libFLAC and libFLAC++, which are built as
Mac-specific Framework bundles (libs + public API headers), which in
turn are distributed with binary XiphQT releases, or framework
binaries can be downloaded separately. As I don't have access to the
FLAC source repository, the Xcode build files can be found on:

SPEEX on iPhone ?
vincent,
it should work out of the box. real time speex should work on the
iphone as it has a really fast arm cpu (and speex works in realtime on
even the 201mhz arm cpus).
while compiling, remember to define the fixed-support support and you
are all set. narrow band (8khz) and 8kbps bitrate will work very well.
while you are at it, pse send the xcode project file to include in the tarball.

[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc broken in iPhone SDK?
There's an error trying to build a "hello world" project out of the box when
selecting LLVM from the list of compilers in iPhone SDK:
http://arrelid.com/archive/2009/01/15/xcode-iphone-sdk-llvm-gcc-fixing-what-apple-forgot
This is on XCode 3.1.2, iPhone SDK 2.2.1 .
The blogger suggests what looks like a hack -- is there a proper solution to
this? Is llvm-gcc just missing a header

Decode file written from JSpeex using C/C++ API?
I'm new to Speex and I'm trying to compress audio using JSpeex in a servlet then play it back on the iPhone. I've managed to get Speex to compile on the iPhone by copying the speex and libspeex folders into XCode. I've read the sample code and the PDF documentation and I have a rough idea how to decode a raw stream. (I'm assuming the sampledec source works with raw speex audio

Compile/Build Speex on iPhone
Hello,
I am completely new to Speex and make files but I'm looking to build/
run Speex on the iPhone for decoding and potentially encoding. I've
read that you can just copy the source into an XCode project which I
tried but I started getting all kinds of compile errors. (1000+) There
were things like missing references to ogg header files and so forth.
Could someone explain

Yes, I know. It's just when I see "happy", "Apple" and "iPhone SDK" on
an Apple employee's mouth here, I felt a strong urge on the spur of
moment to express my discontent towards Apple people who think they
should make us buy their iMac just to be able to code freeware
applications on iPhone. I've been waiting for so long time until an

Compile/Build Speex on iPhone
The off dependencies are only for speexenc and speexdec, as far as I
recall.
If you omit those targets, you shouldn't have the ogg dependency issues.

SPEEX on iPhone ?
ok, interesting !
Do you know how much CPU it takes for a real time encoding/decoding ? it's
more around 20% or 80% instead ?
Do you know if it works for 44100 Hz / 32kbps / Quality =8 ?
thanks again.
Vincent

SPEEX on iPhone ?
Why don't you just try it?
From what others have been reporting, it shouldn't take you long to
get it running.
You can use speexenc and speexdec for testing.

[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc 4.2 in Xcode
I'm happy to announce that the iPhone SDK beta (released yesterday,
available on http://developer.apple.com) includes a beta version of
llvm-gcc 4.2 as part of the included Xcode 3.1 beta. For more
details, please see the llvm-gcc release notes included in the Xcode
documentation. LLVM will also be in the final release of Xcode 3.1
for all Mac developers who are not interested in
