shorewall startup speed - an idea
Dear All, I think I have a useful idea for how shorewall startup could be speeded up in a more automatic manner. Apologies if this is daft, but I think it might work.... Motivation: not all users understand the intricacies of shoreall beyond using the distro setup tool. [And on this particular laptop, shorewall takes 15 seconds during boot.] I have already read this (about shorewall

bridge and dynamically adding hosts to zones
Hi, I''ve set up a bridge which connects two parts of the same subnet with each other. I''ve set up everything as described in the Documentation and it works very nicely. However: I have a problem with adding hosts to zones dynamically. The zone I want to add hosts to is called ''work''. Since only the bridge br0 is defined in /etc/shorewall/interfaces

Adding dynamically more than one host at once?
Hi, it seems not to be possible to add more than one host at once to a zone. So shorewall add br0:eth0:192.168.2.10,eth0:192.168.2.11 work fails, since "br0:eth0:192.168.2.10,eth0" is interpreted as one interface. --snip -- iptables v1.2.9: interface name `eth0:192.168.2.10,eth0'' must be shorter than IFNAMSIZ (15) Try `iptables -h'' or ''iptables

Diagram of iptables
All, A couple of days ago, I saw a post about diagramming iptables rules. I put together a small perl script to do it. I have attached both the script and an image of the output. Please comment if you find this of any use. Thanks Jim

Unable to set attributes in a samba share (error 0x00000005)
Hi, I've set a share using samba, connected it to my Active Directory, and now I'm having problems when I copy files into this share. To setup the AD connection I've followed https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Domain_Member, and installed it into my Debian 9 install using APT, after https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Distribution-specific_Package_Installation. openswan+shorewall+kernel 2.6.8 debian
I am trying to get a debian system with openswan 2.2 shorewall 2.1.11 + debian kernel 2.6.8 working together. I have read the documentation (IPSEC using Linux Kernel 2.6) and before I go and compile my own modules I would like to know if the standard debian kernel already has the Netfilter+ipsec patches and the policy match patches installed. Does anyone know? thanks Jim

Is is possible to do "shorewall reject 1.1.1.1 tcp 25"
Hello, Is is possible to do "shorewall reject 1.1.1.1 tcp 25" ? So I can dynamically blacklist offensive smtp senders, but only have shorewall reject certain types (smtp) traffic from them? Thanks, Alex Martin http://www.rettc.com

error in nls, step factor reduced below minFactor
Hello, I've seen various threads on people reporting: step factor 0.000488281 reduced below `minFactor' of 0.000976563 While I know how to set the minFactor, what I'd like to have happen is for nls to return to me, the last or closest fitted parameters before it errors out. In other words, so I don't get convergence, I'd still like to acquire the values of the parameters

v1.2/DNAT
Some probably wish v1.2.12-2 out of Debian Woody would just go away, but it''s what I''m using and really don''t wish to upgrade at this time (but will eventually). My needs are rather simple and I''m sure it can handle the job. I''ve read and re-read the FAQs and searched extensively for docs on what my problem might be, but just cannot put my finger

Win2K registry not loading correctly
Hi, I've noticed that my Win2K registry just won't load correctly. In Win2K regedit nothing shows up at all - not even home registry values - and in Win98 regedit (running in my w2k configured wine) only few values show up, I believe those are my home registry values. Here's the relevant stuff from config, built with winesetup: [Drive H] "Path" = "/mnt/winnt"
