how to get access to C++ Objects
In the "Writing R Extensions" manual appears this example, to get access to C++ function using the R commands:
R> dyn.load(paste("X", .Platform$dynlib.ext, sep = ""))
constructor Y
R> .C("X_main")
constructor X
destructor X
list()
That gives me access to the function "X_main", but how to get access to methods and properties

snmp driver for Liebert AP300
I assume this is the best way to get in contact with the developers of
the snmp-ups driver for nut.
We have a Liebert AP300 Series UPS with an SNMP Card. I'm trying to
write a new header file for nut so we can support our UPS with nut.
I've got the driver to compile with Nut 2.2.0 source on RedHat EL v4 and
some of the info is correct, but the main thing the power/battery status
is not.

scp problems?
Hi. So I have been having problems using scp to copy
files between two of my machines, both of which are running OpenSSH
2.30p1 (though I've had the same problem with previous versions).
It is basically as simple as the file not being transferred after
authentication occurs. I can however use scp to copy files back and
forth from another machine using a SSH Communications version

DTMF
Anyone see this before?
I have a main Asterisk box 11.4 connected to Windstream via SIP trunks in my colo.
So as a did comes in they are routed to appropriate customers, in this case another asterisk 11.4 box.
All is working well with the exception of DTMF. Losing the last digits so say someone hits 123... on the customer box I only get 12
This is the weird part, it only happens on 1 DID. If I

Networking/routing issue
Hello,
I've been working on this for over a week. I don't think its working the way
it should.
Here's what I'm trying to do:

Windstream SIP Trunk settings
Does anyone on this list use Windstream as a SIP trunk provider?
If so, would you mind sharing your peer settings?
I'm using asterisk 13.7.2 and can't seem to get the inbound working
correctly (using registration). Outbound is fine, but they are seeing an
authentication error on their end.
Here are my inbound peer settings:

predict.coxph
Since I read the list in digest form (and was out ill yesterday) I'm
late to the discussion.
There are 3 steps for predicting survival, using a Cox model:
1. Fit the data
fit <- coxph(Surv(time, status) ~ age + ph.ecog, data=lung)
The biggest question to answer here is what covariates you wish to base
the prediction on. There is the usual tradeoff between too few (leave

stack overflow and predict()
Dear R users,
I'm trying to use rpart() to build a classification tree on a big dataset.
The number of samples is n=100 and the number of variables is p=10000.
At first I stored all the data in a data.frame and got a "stack overflow"
error; then I changed the data into a matrix and the problem disappeared.
Now the trouble is when I try to use the predict() function, since each

problem with nth patch, counter parameter...I think
Hi all, I need some guidance to get my problem fixed. I believe there
is an issue with the ''nth'' patch from the patch-o-matic, which is
labeled as status ''works''.
I have tunnels back and forth across the internet, using ''nth'' to
balance packets between different public networks (over the tunnels).
I need to access some networks over two

fixme:commdlg:GetFileName95 Flags 0x00000002 not yet implemented
Greetings!
I am attempting to run Groove Mechanic ( http://www.coyotes.bc.ca )
under wine.
It is able to get past the licence check and record from the sound card.
But when I attempt to open a WAV file to process I get the error
message:
fixme:commdlg:GetFileName95 Flags 0x00000002 not yet implemented
and the program hangs with focus switching between the GM window and the

Morning all,
Little back ground. Running CentOS 5.3 fully update. I basically run
this as router and gateway for home network. I have two(2) winblows
machines hooked up. I am running samba for shares. I opened up root's
mail this morning and found this strange little comment :

Getting debugging symbols into the backtrace
I'm using the official wine ubuntu repository and have wine1.5 and
wine1.5-dbg installed. Yet when my wine application crashes, the
backtrace does not have the debugging symbols. Perhaps significant is
that an error message box pops up saying "internal errors - invalid
parameters received".
Looking at the installed files from the wine1.5-dbg package, it seems
strange. It installs

Status of USB support in WINE
Are the instructions at http://wiki.winehq.org/USB still valid for
1.5.27? It looks like the patches stopped being updated at 1.5.7. Are the USB patches being maintained still?

OCFS and backups to tape
Hi,
we have installed ocfs2 on Rhat 4. It is being used as a general
clustered file system. There are no oracle binaries or datafiles on the
ocfs volume. So no need for RMAN or oarcle agents etc etc.
The customer would like to backup the volume using arcserve. However CA
are saying that they cannot backup from an ocfs volume.
Has anyone out there got any words of wisdom about backing up

Need help
I do part time consulting work. I need to setup an asterisk system to
allow me to record both inbound and outbound calls to clients. I have one
client that is just a PITA. The client has changed their mind three times
so far and we are at step one.
I have a spare slackware box and a seperate phone line for the consulting
work. I have MCI Neighorhood as my carrier.
What I need to know is:
