Red Code, Nimbda et. al
Hello, we are interested to learn how Shorewall can be configured to look
into a packet''s payload, say to look for footprints of Red Code or Nimbda
(for example). From the site web page features section we understand
Shorewall only looks into the packet''s header.
Your enlightening answer will be appreciated.

Jose.

Parameterized Samples Withdrawn
Although the parameterized samples have allowed people to get a firewall
up and running quickly, they have unfortunately set the wrong level of
expectation among those who have used them. I am therefore withdrawing
support for the samples and I am recommending that they not be used in new
Shorewall installations.

shorewall iprange problem
Perhaps someone can help me understand why this is happening. I''m
trying to write a script using ''shorewall iprange'' to parse some ip
ranges into subnets so that i can place them into the blocklist. I keep
getting an error when i run the script though.
Here is the script:
#!/bin/csh
foreach i (`cat ipranges`)
shorewall iprange $i >>

Shorewall blacklist does all
Hello,
I''m a very happy user of shorewall but I have found a problem
or maybe a misconfiguration I made which I can not resolve.
I use a fairly large blacklist based on probes, nimda & codered
attacks, proxy & relay probes etc.
The only problem is that I want to block incoming trafic on
all ports FROM a block but it does also block a httpd, ping
etc TO a ip in a block what I do

how to change strip text of effect plot
Dear r heper,
How can I change the strip text, for example (16,23] in the following
example, to other more informative text such as "high level" on the
fly?
library(effects)
Cowles$ex2 <- cut(Cowles$extraversion,3)
mod.cowles <- glm(volunteer ~ sex+neuroticism*ex2,data=Cowles, family=binomial)
eff.cowles <- allEffects(mod.cowles)

Member Server in Active Directory
I'm trying to join a Samba 3.0.4 (compiled from source on Debian) to an
Active Directory as a member server. I believe Kerberos is configured
correctly as kinit creates a ticket for the realm. Executables appear to have
support for Kerberos and LDAP (smbd -b | grep KRB and grep LDAP) return OK.
When I try to join the AD with
net ads join -U myadminusername

any implementations for adaptive modeling of time series?
Hallo,
my noisy time series represent a fading signal comprising of long
enough parts with a simple trend inside of each such a part.
Transition from one part into another is always a non-smooth
and very sharp/acute. In other words I have a piecewise
polynomial noisy curve asymptotically converging to the
biased constant, points between pieces are non-differentiable.

help overlay scatterplot to effects plot
I have a process where I am creating a effects plot similar to the cowles effect example. I would like to add the point estimates to the effects plot, can someone show me the correct syntax. I have included the "R" effects example, so you can show me the correct syntax. Thanks

Blacklist problems - iptables v1.2.4: Unknown arg ''--log-level''
Hi All,
I have just upgraded to 1.2.5 of shorewall, and thought I would switch on
the blacklisting feature.
All seemed well, I had the log level set to debug...to try it out (like
you do)..no problems...
But when I removed the debug
i.e. in shorewall.conf BLACKLIST_LOGLEVEL= instead of
BLACKLIST_LOGLEVEL=debug
I get .the usual init stuff..then

I treid this with wondershaper, using Bearing Leaf 1.0 stable
i even changed the tc command to run_tc, and tried it in both angles,

How to produce glm graph
I'm very new to R and modeling but need some help with visualization of glms.
I'd like to make a graph of my glms to visualize the different effects of
different parameters.
I've got a binary response variable (bird sightings) and use binomial glms.
The 'main' response variable is a measure of distance to a track and the
parameters I'm testing for are vegetation parameters

It has been setup correctlly and working now.

I believe the problem is

wormHunter.sh and friends
Evening all,
First: Obligatory thanks to Tom. Shorewall is GREAT! I''ve got it on 3
machines now and love it. (Just because they are obligatory does not mean
they are not heart-felt.)
On my main web server, I am constantly scanning my log files for
worm-signs. Requests for default.ida, any .exe, there are several others,
you probably have your favorite. I got tired of doing it by hand

how to monitor,or be notified of email blacklisting ?
Hi,
Does anyone know how I can monitor our server's for blacklisting? We
run a large amount of shared hosting & reseller hosting servers and
from time to time one of the IP's will get blacklisted. I'm looking
for a way to be notified if any of our IP's get blacklisted. Is this
possible?

effects package --- add abline to plot
Hello, I am not having success in a simple task. Using the effects package, I would like to add reference lines at probability values of 0.1 – 0.6 on a plot of the effects. The plot command works, but following up with an abline command produces the message “plot .new has not been called yet”, and of course the reference lines were not added.
Looking through past R help lists, there was a
