question regarding compression %
Hi,
For those of you who don't know, I now have an application on pocket pc using flac. Live2496 does realtime encoding while recording. Live2496 typically is used to record a digital source using the Core Sound PDAudio device. Links are now on the main flac page if you are interested in learning more.
I have a question. We have run across a 24-bit file that when we record it, flac level

question regarding compression %
Hi Josh,
I made some choices for the encoder based upon how quickly the pocket pc could convert files. I think that I chose flac -0 because of this and also I think that I may have increased the buffer already to 4608.
However, I will do some additional testing.
The cpu's used are in the ARM family. Xscale (PXA255) as found on the hp 5100/5500 series and 2200 series.

Fatal end of line errors occur when trying to compile libspeex in eVC++ 3.0 or 4.0
Hi all,
I'm trying to create a speex decoder library for Pocket PC platform. I then intend to use this library
within my .NET Compact Framework application. But when I simply try to compile the
libspeex files within my eMbedded Visual C++ environment, I receive
the following error
c:\documents and settings\asheeshv.grapecity\desktop\pocketpcdll\speex\bits.c(367) : fatal error C1010:

Libspeex-cygwin-EVC++ 3.0
Hello Carl,
Can you send me libspeex compilated in eVC. And can you describe where and how set the FIXED_POINT flag in eVC.
Thanks you.
Regards.
Rodrigo.

Libspeex-cygwin-EVC++ 3.0
I have built the Speex library for Pocket PC using the FIXED_POINT flag in eVC 3. It works fine.
I think the iPAQ 3600 (ARM SA 1110, I think this is a 200mhz cpu), is a bit slow for encoding in realtime. The Speex encode function takes 30+ ms to encode one 20ms sample frame in a debug build. I didn't try the release build with compiler optimization.
The iPAQ 3970 (PXA250, I think this is a

RE: Difference in Encoding of files on Pocket PCvis-à-vis desktop
Hi,
Here's a couple things to look at:
1) Are you using your own encoder and decoder? If so, try with speexenc
and speexdec.
2) Is PocketPC big endian? If so, try defining WORDS_BIGENDIAN when
compiling Speex.
3) The "This doesn't look like a Speex file" error sounds very
suspicious because it only involves looking at the first chars of the
first packet and looking for the

Hi Fabio,
In theory, speex would run in real time, because now it was implemented
with integer functions (before only floting point). I'd like test it in
my arm processor. I hope to port speex to ppc soon. For your thesis see

Re: problems accessing samba server from Pocket PC with Windows Mobil e
Hi there,
I am experiencing exactly the same problems like described below.
I do not have a solution right now, but I found a work-around that may
help you.
As soon as I change the security parameter in the smb.conf file
from security=user to security=share, mounting shares to Pocket
PC seems to work. (HP iPAQ 4150 running Windows Mobile 2003)
I am running SAMBA V 3.0.2.a and 2.6.4.2-52 kernel

Difference in Encoding of files on Pocket PC vis-à-vis desktop
Hi,
I suspect something related to endianness or word size here. Can you
check that the encoded files end up the same size? Also, what if you
encode on the Pocket PC and decode on a desktop? Maybe if you encode a
small wav file on both pocket PC and desktop using default options and
send me the results.

Pocket PC 2003 lose stored password
Hi all,
when accessing a samba server (2.2.8a) from a Pocket PC 2003 you can give a
password and tell the Pocket PC to remember it.
But, if you switch off the device or remove the LAN-card the stored password
is lost (or send in a different way as Pocket PC 2002).
?
Maybe the procedure of sending the stored password has been changed,
??? because Pocket PC 2002 works fine with samba,

Difference in Encoding of files on Pocket PC vis-à-vis desktop
Hi all,
I've created a Speex decoder for Pocket PC so that I can play Speex files from within my .NET CF app.
But there has been a problem while playing the files on my Pocket PC.
I encode a wav file on the desktop using Speexenc.exe (Speex- 1.1.5) and then copy this file to my Pocket PC where
I playback using my decoder library. But the sound quality is extremely poor and completely

Hello Jean-Marc,
I encoded a 143 kb file on both the desktop as well as the Pocket PC using the default settings/
Here are the results.
Size : Desktop - 17.6 Kb, Pocket PC -17.1 kb (not much difference in size)
Now when I try to decode the file encoded on the Pocket PC, I get a message
"This doesn't look like a Speex file". However, when I decode the Pocket PC encoded file on

thanks in advance!

Pocket Outlook
Hi all,
Another user posted the same thing a few months back... after contacting
them, they said they never got it working.
I'm unable to get Pocket Outlook, or FlexMail 2006 working on Dovecot
0.99.13. According to the logs it connects just fine. With Pocket
Outlook I'll see the headers for a few seconds, and then it clears and
shows nothing. With FlexMail, which is supposed to have

openssh for pocket PC
hey all,
I was looking for an openssh version that ran on Pocket PC - I need to be able to connect
to a server from a Pocket PC in a secure fashion - and I was hoping that it was available
in a form that would be usable by CF .Net.
Any ideas on where I could get something like this? Is there a port of OpenSSH to
pocketPC?

Pocket Outlook weirdness
Hi!
I am trying to access my IMAP server running dovecot from my Pocket PC
running PocketOutlook. I observe very strange behavior: it starts to
fetch messages from INBOX and shows list them on the screen as it
fetches, then all messages disappear from the screen and it says
"fetching folders". After the end of update operation it shows me
empty list of messages.
Have anybody have seen
