OS X compile errors
I just tried to compile FLAC 1.0.5 beta1 under Apple's X11 v0.1
(released today) and it didn't work. The error message was:

A couple of points about flac 1.1.1 on ppc/linux/altivec
I tried to send this message via gmane a couple of weeks ago but it never got
through moderation. So maybe the moderator is on holiday, or there is some
other problem in the gmane->flac-dev connection?

What is in directory flac.pbproj?
Hi all,
There is a bunch of seemingly windows related stuff in the top level
directory flac.pbproj which has not been touched since 2009.
If it hasn't been touched, its almost certainly broken and redundant.
Can I simply delete it?
Cheers,
Erik

two problems with flac and ices 0.4 build
i'm trying to build ices0.4 and vorbis-tools 1.0.1 with flac 1.1.1.
Neither seems happy, hence the crossposting (sorry).

ices refuses to see the libFLAC library, even if i specify
--with-flac=/usr/local/lib (or even just --with-flac=/usr/local/, as the
configure script seems to look in the lib and include subdirectories of
the specified path?). i get a configure error:

Mac OS X - xmms plugin probs
I'm making a Fink package for FLAC. It all builds fine except for the
xmms plugin. I'd use the pbproject, but fink users are likely to want
the xmms plugin which pbxbuild does not build. Also it seems the
pbproject does not build dynamic libraries.
I build with:
./configure --prefix=/sw --mandir=/sw/share/man
make
make install DESTDIR=/tmp (to simulate building into a deb file)

[Flac-users] Mac Players
Are there any other Mac media players beside MacAmp Lite X that can play flac
files?
I ask because I'm having trouble getting MacAmp Lite X to play m3u playlists,
of which I have over 500.
Are there any alternatives?
Thanks,
Sean

Updating flac include problems
Updating the fink flac to 1.0.4, it won't compile because finds the
headers of the previous version in /sw/include, because the
CPPFLAGS/CFLAGS are being put before the local includes:
(configure with ./configure --prefix=/sw --mandir=/sw/share/man )
gcc -DPACKAGE_NAME=\"\" -DPACKAGE_TARNAME=\"\" -DPACKAGE_VERSION=\"\"
-DPACKAGE_STRING=\"\"

I don't remember having any trouble building the plugin on
my ibook but that was a few months ago, so my memory may be
fuzzy.

Altivec, automake
finished hooking up the altivec stuff so it works in ProjectBuilder.
I ran a test, doing a 'flac -t' on 400MB of files compresses at
level 5. the runtime dropped from from 180 sec to 105 sec!
once I get the latest autotools on my ibook I'll try and get
asm compilation to work that way.

flac-1.1.1 completely broken on linux/ppc and on macosx if built with the standard toolchain (not xcode)
thanks for the feedback, but it would really help if you supply
a patch (diff -c), I didn't understand all the changes you
described.
someone reported a problem with src/libFLAC/include/private/lpc.h
that was fixed in CVS and may fix the problem building with asm
disabled
