proc:::exit not firing
I have a funny issue whereby when a application exits the proc:::exit probe doesn''t seem to be firing. A customer has written a dtrace script that outputs some info whenever proc:::exit fires but on occasion (random, no pattern in behaviour) dtrace exits without outputting the data. They are running dtrace via ''dtrace -s exit_trace.d -p <pid>'' Can anyone think

SECURITY: Important bug fix for /sbin/login
Their is a buffer overrun in /bin/login which has the potential to allow any user of your system to gain root access. util-linux-2.5-29 contains a fix for this and is available for Red Hat Linux 4.0 on all four platforms. We strongly recommend that all of Red Hat 4.0 usres apply this fix. Users of Red Hat Linux versions earlier then 4.0 should upgrade to 4.0 and then apply all available security

Cannot move /bin/upsdrvctl to /sbin
Hi, In Red Hat /etc/init.d/halt script, it expects upsdrvctl to be in /sbin rather than /bin which sounds normal considering the power of that command. If I move this file to sbin, this is what I get when invoking it: [root@serveur1.sassine.eu nut-2.0.5]# mv /bin/upsdrvctl /sbin/ [root@serveur1.sassine.eu nut-2.0.5]# which upsdrvctl /sbin/upsdrvctl [root@serveur1.sassine.eu nut-2.0.5]#

SuSE 9.3 domU /sbin/ifup workaround
Hi all I have a SuSE 9.3 domU. It has a eth0 interface, corresponding to some vif interface in the dom0. Running ifup eth0 doesn''t seem to work. This means I don''t get any network. It seems that /sbin/ifup relies upon /sbin/getcfg but getcfg does not seem to find the right configuration for the eth0 device. A attached a patch below with a work around for this.
