dropping id3 support
after spending a lot of time integrating X-Fixer's winamp2
plugin code, I am on the verge of removing id3 v1/v2 support
from the plugins completely. it is really hard to get right
in a way that works intuitively for the user, and i18n is
also a nightmare. in id3v2 every field can have a different
encoding.
FLAC tag a.k.a. Vorbis comment support is very good now so
unless someone comes up

Directshow filters update - 0.66.8063
Another update to these filters... www.illiminable.com/ogg/
Here's the chagnes...
* FLAC can now be muxed into a multi-stream file.
* Now supports both the new Ogg FLAC (1.1.1) and the old Ogg FLAC (still not
native FLAC)
* Fixed the explorer problem by removing the offending registry key at
installation
* Removed a heap of memory leaks, WMP should run a fair bit leaner now
* Some internal

Re: Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
Thanks Christian.
Now I can play my FLAC files with WiMP.
I uninstalled the illuminable package and then installed the Matroska.
The result was the opposite that I got for the illuminable: the
illuminable package registered the types but WiMP couldn't find the
codecs, the Matroska didn't register the types but it did make the
codecs available. This is much preferable of course

Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
At my company we have a bunch of music in FLAC format. We want to play
it using the Windows Media Player, but none of us can get the
illiminable DS filters to work. Here are some details.
Illiminable DS filters

We are using the latest build available on this website, and I have read
all the known issues.

New Directshow filters preview...
I have been developing some directshow filters for ogg, and vorbis and speex... currently i have an ogg demux filter and a speex/vorbis decoding filter. In this pre-release only vorbis is operational... but the speex decoder is pretty much done... i jsut need to tweak the demux filter so that it can negotiate a speex connection with the other filter. Just though some people might find them useful

Opportunity for Ogg/Vorbis in hardware...
Guys... I'm not subscribed to the list, but I've been reading your
archives for about a year, watched the progress, the push to Beta 1,
and been, frankly, in awe of some of the hard topics all of the
extremely intelligent people who have been tackling. (I'm not too up
on my fractal compression and using splines to track pixel motion in a
stream.)
Ok, that said, I was speaking with

[Flac-users] FLAC in the news
FYI,
Unless you've been checking the FLAC site you might have
missed some encouraging things that have happened in the
last few months. I haven't really been announcing things
in the lists along the way, but to summarize:
- Primus and Phish have been selling soundboard recordings
of shows in FLAC
- Magnatune (an indie label) offers their whole catalog in
FLAC and Vorbis now
- More

Strange Share Trouble
I am running SAMBA on Redhat Linux 7.x.
I have a share for our office as a file server. The regular Win9x client
can browse / edit / delete and use the server with no issues from the
Windows Explorer / Applications except for one.
We run AutoCAD (drafting) with an extension Cadpipe. Cadpipe has it's own
file browser style interface where you add files to a list to create a

dropping id3 support
ah. I was only talking about removing support in the winamp2
and xmms plugins. the decoder libraries will still be able to
skip over/ignore id3 tags as before. I think AudioReQuest and
PhatNoise must be using their own code to read id3 tags, which
won't be affected.

FLAC Plug-in for Windows Media Player?
I was wondering if there is a FLAC plugin for Windows Media Player? Just
from doing web-searches, it doesn't look like there is, at least as far as I
can tell. So, if there isn't a plug-in for WMP, well, why isn't there? And
is there anyone working on one?
I'm a programmer, though I've never done any WMP programming. But, I would
think it wouldn't be too hard to do a

MEMDISK issue with OptiPlex GX280,620
Good day to you, too. No worries about the delay. I understand how busy everyone is with SYSLINUX. Gladly, the project continues to develop and improve. With that said, thanks for today's flurry of activity regarding my reported problem.
Impressively, the debug version of MEMDISK that you had directed me to use appears to have done the trick. Results below.
