[Flac-users] mpd has support for flac!
Hello, http://musicpd.sf.net just came out today, with (amongst many other things) support for flac. MPD is a very stable, lean Music Playing Daemon written in C, that can be interfaced several different ways, through php, plain old telnet, there is a CLI on the way, and a GTK2 client on the way also. Please give it a try and tell us what you think @ irc.oftc.net #mpd. Thanks starz

Opus supported source client without transcoding?
Okey, thanks. Do you have any idea what I might use for feedings files to oggfwd? I have done a bit of searching, but I can't really find anything. With mpd it's possible to set a file as output with their fifo output plugin: http://www.musicpd.org/doc/user/ch05s06.html#idp58733200 But it seems like it's a PCM stream and not the file as-is. I'm listening to FLAC on my ipod!
Just to let you guys know, I've been listening to FLAC (compression level 2 or lower) tunes on my 3rd generation ipod running ipodlinux (modified uCLinux) for the past few days. No skips or slow-downs whatsoever using MPD to play music. It's pretty cool to be able to use my iPod for the first time in 7 months. (I could've dual-booted the Apple firmware, but nearly all my music is in

Using MPD as an Icecast source (hint: using jack helps)
I thought I should report this: (In my case at least) defining a "jack" output for mpd caused a "shout" output to become operational. I was trying to configure mpd with a "shout" output to feed my Icecast2 server, but with no luck. Giving up, I fell back to option 2: Feeding my mpd output to darkice using "jack" as an interface. As soon as I had defined

Any way to setup a lossless stream from MPD? I know MPD can encode FLAC, but I don't know if Icecast can handle it. Any other lossless options? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/icecast/attachments/20150422/72a1c4d4/attachment.htm

mpd VPN won't work after upgrade from 4.6-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE
I upgraded a week ago from 4.6-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE, and subsequently my mpd-based VPN ceased to function, giving me all kinds of "protocol rejected" messages. I haven't seen any such reports lately on this list or questions about it on freebsd-questions, so I'm wondering what it's related to. I can provide more details on request, but I first wanted to see if anyone knows

Opus supported source client without transcoding?
Hi! I'm looking for a Linux source client that supports the Opus codec and doesn't transcode/re-encode the music files. I have tried both mpd and Liquidsoap, but both re-encodes the media files even if they already are in Opus. I would like to be able to pre-encode my music library to, lets say, 100 kbit/s Opus files and then just stream them as-is. This would save storage space, CPU

Down the MPD road
Well, after working through the various options it looked like MPD would be my best bet here. I've got it sort of working, but there's obviously some tweaky I'm missing here. Recap of the scenario: Full class C of static IPs segmented into 3 networks. Outside, DMZ, Inside. Trying to get remote Windows users through securely to the Inside. Remote users have dynamic IPs.

Flac live audio stream
Hi, I am looking for a way to stream live audio using the FLAC audio format. After some analysis myself I found various lossy alternatives, also in higher levels of kbps (like MP3 320 kbps). But I do want to challenge and be sure whether FLAC might be a possibility. So I am specifically looking for an encoder and server solution supporting live streaming FLAC audio. Do you have a

Playback + Replay Gain questions
I don't recall seeing anything about how to apply the same gain to an album as opposed to a mix of tracks. Man page and site seem vacant on it. Any clues as to where to look? I looked at mpd but ended up not using it due it not working with my sound cards as I had them setup. I do remember there being a very good curses player though. Before leaving gnump3d worked quite well for me since

mpd configure and route issues
I have searched google high and low for answers to this...and I have gotten many examples, howto, etc...but they all seem to have a slightly different configuration, and therefore, slightly different problems. Unfortunately, not enough of them show the network layout, along with the configuration, so it's hard to tell why certain IP are being used, and were they are on the network. I have
