Segfaults on K7
I got a new Athlon recently, and to my surprise, FLAC started segfaulting, even when recompiled. The problem goes away if I build with --disable-asm-optimizations. Has anyone else had problems of this sort? Here are the specs on the processor: processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 6 model : 4 model name : AMD Athlon(tm) Processor stepping :

[lamont+buildd@hp.com: Bug#162718: flac_1.0.4-1(hppa/unstable): FTBFS: non-PIC code in shared object]
It looks like libplugin_common.a is being linked into the shared object libxmms-flac.so. In that case, all of the objects in libplugin_common.a must be compiled with -fPIC. ----- Forwarded message from lamont+buildd@hp.com ----- Date: Sat, 28 Sep 2002 18:54:08 -0600 From: lamont+buildd@hp.com Resent-From: lamont+buildd@hp.com To: submit@bugs.debian.org Subject: Bug#162718:

I assume this option was intentionally removed, and the man page should simply be updated...is this correct? ----- Forwarded message from Marco Bodrato <bodrato@gulp.linux.it> ----- Date: Sat, 28 Dec 2002 13:31:35 +0100 From: Marco Bodrato <bodrato@gulp.linux.it> Resent-From: Marco Bodrato <bodrato@gulp.linux.it> To: Debian Bug Tracking System <maintonly@bugs.debian.org>

AM_MAINTAINER_MODE
The rules that automake uses to automatically run autoconf/automake/etc. are handy for development, but the have a way of screwing up automated builds. AM_MAINTAINER_MODE disables this behaviour by default, but allows for it to be enabled for development at configure time. Segfaults on K7
I'm running your debian packages on a K7 currently. They seem to be working fine, including the xmms-flac package. I seem to be experiencing the same flac decoding problems (state=6:FLAC__FILE_DECODER_STREAM_ERROR) as Pritpaul Mahal, however. I'll see if I can reproduce these. It could just be a problem with my old FLAC files (from 0.9 and before). This K7 doesn't segfault on flac

Re: Odd xmms plugin behavior
hmm, you must have found a bug. the format does support other resolutions and sample rates, and the test suite does include numerous 8 bps mono files, so it's probably in the plugin itself. if you 'flac -t' the encoded 8-bit mono file, does it test ok?
