better seeking
When I was trying to find yesterday's xmms-plugin bug, i have noticed that seeking in stream without seek-table isn't very good. With attached patch it is much better. -- Miroslav Lichvar -------------- next part -------------- --- src/libFLAC/seekable_stream_decoder.c.orig 2003-02-26 19:41:51.000000000 +0100 +++ src/libFLAC/seekable_stream_decoder.c 2003-07-09 23:49:35.000000000 +0200

[PATCH] Fix fuction prototypes/definitions with void argument
Hi, the patch below fixes function prototypes/defintions with void argument to shut up the heartful warnings by recent gcc :) It doesn't cover all places, e.g. test directories. The patch is to 1.1.2. better seeking
Ok, the patch from 2003 about improving seeking still didn't make it to CVS, so here is another try. I made some benchmarking with the test_seeking utility from flac sources to show how bad the current seeking is, especially without seektable. Track used for the experiment had about 50 minutes. In the following table is average number of seeks and number of decoded frames required for one

FLAC/assert.h overwrites /usr/include/assert.h?
Let me pass this on to the dev group. I haven't seen this but I never install to /usr. I would think that it should still end up in /usr/include/FLAC/assert.h... maybe automake is handling the file specially because of the name? getting framesize in client
I have few notes: It seems there is changed API in CVS again. So, what about adding function like unsigned FLAC__format_frame_size(const FLAC__Frame *frame) which returns size of the frame in bytes. This can be useful, for example, in xmms plugin to display current bitrate like vorbis plugin does. If 'PERFORMER' field is missing in vorbis comment, it would be nice to display

make headers C++ compatible?
Hello FLACers, I'm working on implementing FLAC support for Audacity, a cross-platform audio editor (audacity.sourceforge.net). We're experimenting with using FLAC as the internal data representation. Unfortunately, the FLAC headers cannot be used in C++ programs because of the use of 'private' and 'protected' as variable names in stream_decoder.h, stream_encoder.h, and

Two new CVEs against FLAC
Hi all, Google Security Team member, Michele Spagnuolo, recently found two potential problems in the FLAC code base. They are : CVE-2014-9028 : Heap buffer write overflow CVE-2014-8962 : Heap buffer read overflow For Linux distributions, the specific fixes for these two CVEs are available from Git here:

[Flac-users] Trouble Building flac-1.1.0
I am trying to build Flac 1.1.0. Version 1.0.3 built without any problems on this system, but 1.0.4 and 1.1.0 fail during the `make' step. I ran `./configure' without any extra flags, then ran `make'. The following is the errors that make outputs: file_decoder.c:60: parse error before "FLAC__FileDecoderWriteCallback" file_decoder.c:60: warning: no semicolon at end of

Updating flac include problems
Updating the fink flac to 1.0.4, it won't compile because finds the headers of the previous version in /sw/include, because the CPPFLAGS/CFLAGS are being put before the local includes: (configure with ./configure --prefix=/sw --mandir=/sw/share/man ) gcc -DPACKAGE_NAME=\"\" -DPACKAGE_TARNAME=\"\" -DPACKAGE_VERSION=\"\" -DPACKAGE_STRING=\"\"

Altivec, automake
I think I've gotten FLAC__lpc_restore_signal() about as good as I'm going to get it. Here's what I have: -a new file, lpc_asm.s, which has the assembly routines -changes to cpu.h, cpu.c, and stream_decoder.c to enable them -changes to configure.in to support the new cpu stuff -a preliminary Makefile.am -maybe something else I'm forgetting Now automake complains that configure.in
