DocBook XML conversion progress
Everyone, Progress was slow today. I started out well, but then I ran into Documentation.htm. Progress slowed considerably, as I analyzed the document structure. I''m up to /etc/shorewall/hosts Configuration. I hope to finish Documentation.xml by tomorrow evening. Converted documents: 6to4.xml CorpNetwork.xml FAQ.xml Please post feedback, if you see any problems with the converted

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
Hi: I'dve thought that there'd be no need for the libs in the chroot, as icecast starts up first, then chroots. Even if this isn't strictly the case, wouldn't icecast crash if it couldn't pull in the relevant code? This doesn't seem to be happening, at least in this case. can you provide a dump of the conversation between your icecast server and the YP ? Use something like tcpdump or ethereal...In the dump, look for the URL call to yp-cgi and post what is being sent... oddsock <p>What I saw of the output of tcpdump didn't show any mention of the yp url. Snort and Shorewall
Hello I am looking for a way to have snort to dynamically update my shorewall config. I have seen software out there but I would like to see if anyone had tried this first. Aslo I would like to know if there is a way clear the Netfilter tables when I do a shorewall restart. The reason being is that when I make a change to my firewall setting I want all connections to have to re-establish

Ideas for Shorewall 2.0
I''m beginning to think again about what will be different in 2.0. Here are some thoughts. a) User-defined actions will be emphasized. - A library of actions will be available with names such as: AcceptSSH AcceptDNS DropWindows (drops all SMB noise) DropBroadcasts (Silently drop all Broadcast traffic) ... The possibilities are nearly endless but should

"shorewall stop"
Although Shorewall provides safeguards against it, people seem to regularly shoot themselves in the foot when doing remote system administration. I''ve been thinking about this problem and wonder if a change to the way that "shorewall stop" behaves might help. Today, "shorewall stop" stops all traffic except to/from those destinations listed in

send patchs
Hi all, I''m working on a patch for shorewall to make it run with a Crossbeam X40 machine (www.crossbeamsystems.com) and I would like to know where to send it, is this list the correct location?. The patch is necesary because of Crossbeam X series running mode: when you make a shorewall start, restart or clear, there are a packet dropping until shorewall is Started or cleaned. At

One Remaining Issue Regarding 2.4.0
I believe that 2.4.0 is about ready to be sent out the door. I''ve made a couple of small changes since RC2 but I don''t believe that they warrant another RC. There remains the issue of what to do about support for Shorewall 2.0 given that 2.2 has only been available since March. It would be my recommendation to make 2.4 the new "stable" release but continue to
