winamp plug-in enhancement/bugfix
josh,
thanks for the feedback. now i can start encoding like mad knowing that the
generated flac files are ok =)
(flac -t said the files were ok, despite metaflac's complaints).
i noticed that without the flac-for-winamp plug-in installed, winamp
correctly displays the id3 filename (e.g. "Bjork - Human Behavior") in the
playlist and also displays the id3 tags in the file

EAC (exactaudiocopy) in openSUSE 10.2
Hello wine users:
Could someone, please, help me how to make work EAC with
wine in openSUSE 10.2?
Earlier (SUSE 10.1) I could configure wine to use windows
2000 as default windows version and EAC to use 'native Win32
interface for WinNT/2000/XP' and these worked together fine.
Now in openSUSE 10.2 (wine version wine-0.9.37-12.1) when I
start EAC with wine I get:
a) when the interface

EAC + FLAC bitrate question?
This is more of an EAC question, but I have not yet received an answer from
my post on that page. Since they are closely related I thought I would give
it a try here.
I just bought a BIG stack of CDs (70+) and decided to recheck all of my EAC
(beta 4) + FLAC (1.1.2) settings prior to ripping and encoding them. I also
calibrated a new external Plextor CD-ROM too.
The setting string I use in

best way to ensure integrity of flac source files?
if there was a flac-users list i'd be asking these questions there, but
anyway =)
on windows, i've been using eac in secure mode and using "test & copy" to
verify that the crc checksums match. invariably, i'll get one or two
mismatches per album i rip, so i figure the checksum verification is a good
thing despite the extra time. once i rip a cd, i want to forget

EAC can't contact FreeDB
Exact Audio Copy 0.99b3 under Wine 0.9.51 on Kubuntu 7.10. It can see
the audio CD in the drive, no problems, no fuss.
What it can't do is contact FreeDB to get CD track names.
Clicking the "FreeDB" button in EAC brings up http://www.freedb.org/
in Konqueror. So the problem isn't that FreeDB is down.
When I run EAC from the command line, there's nothing showing up with

EAC: Ogg-on-the-fly?
I was wondering, is there a way to encode Oggs with EAC on-the-fly? I'm
looking for a way to shorten the whole ripping and encoding process, but so far
I've only seen support for the commandline encoder.

EAC - slow ripping speed
Hi.
My first post over here related to my first try to use WINE.
I am using 0.9.58 and the 2.6.24-rt kernel (Ubuntu Studio Hardy Beta)
I installed EAC and almost everything works fine expect the ripping speed, which doesn't seem to be adjustable. The drive speed is not exceeding 2-3.
I tried all kind of settings. Even setting the drive speed manually up with
hdparm -E did not change it.

yes this would be my concern as well. also, individual track support is just
more flexible for moving music around between devices.
it's funny, i've been on-and-off trying to get the whole

Feature request FLAC
Dear all,
I am an active FLAC user and like the program a lot! Thanks for your
great work. Since I am not a developer I cannot modify the program on my
own.
Maybe you might be interested in features I would find useful. Maybe others
find them interesting as well and you find the time to implement them.

Q: Tool to copy Vorbis comments to MP3 ID tags
Hi,
I'm wondering: If you have audio files like foo1.ogg and foo1.mp3, and the Vorbis
file has nice comments (title, tracknumber, artist, album, date, etc), is there a
tool to copy the information to an MP3 file on a "best effort" strategy?
I know that MP3 TAGs are quite limited regarding lengths.

Need help setting up EAC in Wine
Hello list!
I'm trying to use EAC here with more or less success. I'm having
problems with my CD-Rom. My Wine version is 0.9.10.
I'm using ide-cd with kernel 2.6.16. So I tell EAC to use the "Native
Win32 interface for Win NT/2000/XP" as SCSI interface. I believe that
makes use of Wine's native ntdll.dll which in turn uses SG_IO which is
what I want :)

id3v2 problem
Hi Josh,
I found id3v2 didn't work on v1.1.0. I checked source codes, macros- (in
such cases as FLAC_HAVE_ID3LIB) ware moved to config.h. That is good.
But the place to do include is the after of #ifdef FLAC_HAVE_ID3LIB.
The result of configure script isn't reflected. And it doesn't always
have id3lib with this.
Move place of 'include "config.h"' to the top. I

Wanted: Ripper that uses ID3V2 and FLAC
I've been with FLAC since 0.7, and I've loved the FLAC files I've ripped
with grip, converted from FLAC 0.8 to 0.9, and played constantly on my
desktop.
And then I noticed the truncated ID3 tags in my FLAC files. I at first
thought the problem lied in FLAC; I posted to this list, hoping for a
solution. But then I realized my trusty GRIP was the flawed program.
Now re-ripping my

metaflac --remove-all-tags
there something fishy going on, have about 21 flac files, in a folder,
and 9 of them still showing meta tag data in juk.
When running metaflac --list, show nothing on all 21 files,
however in amarok and juk I can still see some info on 9 flac files.
Howdoes one fix these flac files? are they corrupted?
flac -t came back ok on all
Anyone ?

XMMS plugin doesn't see ID3V2 tags
I tagged some FLAC files with ID3V2 information (by the id3v2 program),
but their metadata does not show up in XMMS.
Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone have a solution?
(I tested the tags using the --list option of id3v2; they are there. XMMS
and the FLAC plugin just don't seem to respect them.)

drive recognition in EAC/wine
Hello all:
I am using exactaudio copy (EAC) with wine on linux (suse 10.1)
So far I had no problems with drive recognition.
Recently I've attached another drive to the IDE 0 slave port
and this drive is not recognized by EAC/wine.
Here is my 'cdrecord dev=ATA -scanbus' output:

FLAC / EAC Help
Hello!
I'm new here, so forgive in advance any ignorance if you will.
I have two issues...
One involved using flacattack.exe, and the other involves burning from cuesheets.
Issue #1:
---------
Any time I rip from EAC into flacattack.exe, and the disc being ripped includes various artists, flacattack.exe crashes on the second track.
The error I get (from the DOS window that flacattack runs
