API breakage in libflac
Hi,
The GStreamer flac plugin broke due to libflac 1.1.0 and libflac 1.1.1
not being ABI/API compatible. Skimming through the archives I see that
this breakage was intentional. I think it is quite common understanding
that when you have a stable release of something you don't break your
API, you only add to it. If you want to break the API that should be
done by going to a new major number,

Problems with FLAC make
Hi,
I have been making an RPM of FLAC to bundle with GStreamer. In order to
get it working I had to make some rather hackish solutions in the SPEC
file. The flac Makefile does to build into the correct directories while
creating an RPM for some reason. I have attached the SPEC file I ended
up with if it is of interest. Of course it didn't help me much cause it
turned up we had a bug in the

New around - some questions (Cortado, editing Theora)
Hello,
I am maintaining different resources related to Ogg Theora, both as a
user and as a contributor to several local advocacy groups.
I had a couple of questions:
- Who should I ask / talk to about financing improvements to the Cortado
applet (namely: bigger / more visible controls for the seek functions) ?
- Are there any simple Ogg Theora editing tools or applications, similar
to avidemux

Resampler set_rate improvements
Hi Jean-Marc,
Thanks for taking a look.
I've added an example program in the patches that changes the rate
frequently. You can run test-resample2 >test.raw and open in audacity or so
to look at the spectrum etc. I've attached a before/after screenshot.
In theory, depending on the current phase and the rate changes that are
applied, the error can be audible as a pop when changing

Resampler set_rate improvements
Hi,
These patches improve the resampler set_rate function.
The first 2 patches do some cleanups in the GCD calculation and avoid an
overflow when calculating the new phase. This patch could probably be
simplified
if we allowed 64bits operations in speexdsp.
The 3rd patch avoid rounding errors in the phase calculation. The problem
is that the new rate is calculated with the reduced rate, which

Resampler set_rate improvements
Hi Wim,
I had a quick look at your patch and I wanted to check what issue you
were trying to solve. Do you have an example where changing the rate
really causes bad artefacts in practice? If so, does that happen on a
single change or only on continuous changes? The reason I ask is that
one of the fundamental design assumptions of this resampler is that rate
changes are relatively infrequent. For

ogg and keyframes
Hi,
When doing a live ogg+theora stream on our server we ran into the
following problem: When a client connects we send out the theora header
pages followed by the actual live stream pages. The problem is that the
first ogg data page does not have the right page number (2), which
causes libogg to not want to decode the first _packet_ of that page.
Since that first packet happens to contain the

I'll have a closer look at your test program.

release of cortado 0.1.0
Hi everyone !
As a special Christmas present, Fluendo is releasing the source code to
the java-based "Cortado" media player. See http://www.flumotion.net/
for more details, or check our demo streams (with applet) at
http://mirror.fluendo.com/
This player has great support for Ogg/Vorbis/Theora, using the Jorbis code
and the Jheora port of Theora to Java written by Wim Taymans.

Quirky Bug: "cat /dev/urandom"
If you execute cat /dev/urandom at the xm console of a guest domain,
it will spew garbage forever. Attempts to run xm destroy on it simply
hang.

Syntax for 2 ISDN Cards
Hi there,
I searched in mailinglist and in web, but no answer to my problem...
Only this post with no answers:
http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-March/038994.html
I'm using CVS Asterisk (05/17/04) with chan_capi 0.3.1. (multiple
controller support). In my Asterisk-box there are 2 Fritzcards
(module for second card compiled with changes on sourcecode found in
the web).

openvz resources
Anyone here running asterisk on openvz, if so what are your experiences?
Right now we are trying to tune out the resources for the difference VEs,
but not with a whole lot of luck. Just wondering if someone watching could
shed some like on what has worked for them, and how many exts/simultaneous
calls etc are happening.
Thanks
Miles

Bug with Large Files on AIX
Hi,
on AIX, mkstemp doesn't open a file with the O_LARGEFILE option, so you
can't transfer files > 2GB to an AIX machine.
Here is a fix:

kernel panic
Yesterday I had a kernel panic on a FreeBSD 4.7 system. Looking at the core
dump, it was caused by a corrupted uidinfo pointer referenced by a tcp pcb.
I searched through the archives and found an identical stack trace in this
message from 2000:

alternate system clock has died
Hi,
I'm getting the message in the subject when I run systat -vm on a lightly
loaded server. Top shows interesting CPU usage %:
CPU states: 0.0% user, 0.0% nice, 0.0% system, 0.0% interrupt, 0.0% idle
Some Googling tells me that a fix for this went in around 1998 in
sys/i386/isa/clock.c, see
