Newbie problem with encoding
Hi all, I'm new to speex and there are quite a number of things I am stuggling with. Any help much appreciated. -bob- Environment: Ubuntu 10.04 Speex 1.2 rc-1 GNU C compiler IDE Code::Blocks My application is actually 'D' but I've written a 'C' wrapper following the examples on speex.org. I have raw data which is in float format with a nominal block size of 512 samples

using speex in C#
Hi SAITAMA Taro, I have been using speex-1.2beta1 dll in our voice application written with C#. In order to use Speex correctly firstly I advice to you examination speexenc and speexdec projects. I have used unsafe code and fixed statements in C#. I have added following method to library and I used that instead of speex_encoder_init simply. void *speex_encoder_init_new(int modeID) { const

A question about speex_bits_write function
Thanks a lot for your explanations. Is it right I understand? if I've set SPEEX_SET_BITRATE to 16000(bps) this means that output is 16000/8=2000 bytes and I should set MAX_FRAME_BYTES and the length of cbits to 2000. Is it right? Maybe it is simple question but your answer is important for me, actually thanks a lot for your helps. Yasemin The last argument should simply be the size of your

A question about speex_bits_write function
Hi everybody, I need clarification about speex_bits_write function usage. There is an example usage of it. nbBytes = speex_bits_write(&bits, cbits, MAX_FRAME_BYTES); I examine the content of this function and which value should I set to MAX_FRAME_BYTE. In speexenc project, it is 2000 and in manual it is 200. For example, I set it to 200 but the length of bits->chars is 250

Stereo speex on Blackfin
Hi, I'm trying to encode a stereo speex file on the blackfin without much luck. This is a standalone application with no OS using the speex library provided in the blackfin multimedia sdk. I believe this library was ported to run using Visual DSP++ by Jean-Marc (may be wrong). I have mono encoding working fine, to add stereo encoding I just added a call to speex_encode_stereo_int()

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
To make it complete, here is the code that I am using to encode a large file: int __stdcall SpxEncode(unsigned char* inBuf, unsigned char* outBuf, unsigned int inlen) { //char *testFile; //FILE *ftest; //testFile = "test"; //ftest = fopen(testFile, "wb"); //fwrite(inBuf,1,inlen,ftest); //take every 320 bytes //copy every short to float

Moving from Speex to Opus (question 2)
Hello! I was using Speex all the time, and I am now moving to Opus. I had encapsulated the decoder a bit, I had the following cpp file: #include "StdAfx.h" #include "spxcodec.h" #define MAX_FRAME_SIZE 2000 #define MAX_FRAME_BYTES 2000 CSpxCodec::CSpxCodec() : enh(1), rate(8000) { } CSpxCodec::~CSpxCodec() { } void CSpxCodec::Init() { speex_bits_init(&bits);

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
It would be nice to get more input. I am really lost because I am not sure what is going on here, and there are no sources to investigate on. Thank you. Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
I found out something: The more frames I decode before the frame that I actually want to decode, the better the quality becomes. For example when I basically want to decode frame #100, I read frame #80 to #100, and then frame 100 has the quality that I need. Why? Is there any information on this behaviour? Thank you. Problems with stereo data
Hi all, I have a problem when I am encoding (or decoding) stereo audio. With mono data, things are fine and everything works without any problems. When I try to decode stereo data, all I get is a static sound - similar to that of a radio not tuned to any specific station. I wonder what might be wrong? Below is the code, first, of the encoder and next that of the decoder. Any information or

echo cancellation on Blackfin DSK
Hello, I'm new on DSP and i want to implant speex echo canceller on the Blackfin DSK version of speex to work on the BF533 EZ-KIT LITE But i can perform the echo canceller to work This is my code, so if somebody can tell me where i'm wrong //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- // CallBackFunction() - Gets called by the audio pseudo-driver

Audio glitches/Configuration problem !!?
Hi all, First of all, thanks to Speex developper for the all the job. I am trying to implement my own Speex DirectShow fitlers for VoIP following the documentation and sample code's. I am facing audio glitches when encoding - decoding PCM data. The encoder and decoder procedures are copied below. What about the lookahead size ? how shouw we apply it in encoding stage ? thanks in advance

Library export file for Win32 (patch)
This patch will export new speex functions in the generated library, such as speex_encode_int as well as the preprocessor, echo-cancellation and jitterbuffers. The ordinals used matches the 1.1.6 release from the speex.org website, so any new library created with this def file should be binary compatible with that one. -------------- next part -------------- Index: speex.def

SPEEX_SET_USER_HANDLER once again
Hi, Sorry! Marc Gimpel. I wrote it in a false thread before. It was my first time. :-) I have to write a small programm which should be able to record speeches and in addition synchronize the recorded speeches with measuring data. My idea is to record the speech in the normal way with speex and without ogg. If a sync message was received, i write a custom in-band messages using mode 13

SPEEX_SET_USER_HANDLER once again
Hi, I think what happened is that you did not write the "message" length. With user-callbacks, you also need to say how large the message. The size is in bytes and encoded in 4 bits. Besides, you're probably the first one to use user-callbacks. BTW, why didn't you want to use Ogg. It's much simpler to use and overhead can be made minimal anyway. Jean-Marc Le ven

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
Sorry, it seems I have only replied to Lakhdar, not to the newsgroup. Below is my reply to Lakhdar, and I would like to make it more clear now, using some pseudo values for simplicity: I read bytes 1 to 124 from my encoded spx file. I decode themt and get the values: ---Frame 1---- -293 -8234 2134 17 ---Frame 2---- -9323 -732 189 2329 Both frames are just perfect as I need them. But now when I

I wonder what is correct. Inside speex the documentation was written that the size in byte is encoded within 5 bit. I changed the code in both ways, but it doesn't work

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
HI Hermann, I am not sure I understand exactly what you are trying to do. Let me try to describe what I understood (I assumed your byte array starts @ 1 and not 0 as it is supposed to be in C) : ############################## CASE 1: (output is good) ############################## - INITILIAZE_DECODER (reset state memory) - READ bytes 1 to 124 - SpxDecode(DinBuf, DoutBuf, unsigned int

GCC/ELF Visibility patch
Hi, I've attached a patch against SVN r14645 which adds GCC visibility information to all symbols exported from libspeex.so and libspeexdsp.so. It includes a configure.ac change to test that both the compiler flags and __attribute__((visibility)) works, and if so will #define EXPORT __attribute__((visibility("default"))) and if not #define EXPORT I've attached a diff output
