Problem with VAD in preprocessor on iPhone
Hello, I am attempting to use Speex in an iPhone application and running into an issue. I got speex to compile by following these instructions: http://codeforfun.wordpress.com/2010/04/29/compile-speex-for-iphone/ Next, I was able to record some audio and play it back. I then inserted a call to the speex preprocessor and am passing all of the audio buffers I receive from Audio Queue Services

How can I use preprocessor standalone with a wav file?
I have been tyring to use the preprocessor standalone by feeding it pcm data from a headerless pcm file (mono, 22050hz) and then write the result to another file. Unfortunately, all I get back is noise (first frame is set to 0, rest is noise). Frame size is set to 440. I just modified testdenoise.c slightly to read/write from a file (see below) but I can't get useful results. What am I

preprocessor VAD only rocognize between silence andnot silence
Jesus, Unfortunately, FFT and magic algorithms don't work (yet?). You might want to try this if you're not satisfied with Speex VAD: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2008-August/006860.html It won't perform any miracles, but I think it works pretty well and is easy to tweak. preprocessor VAD only rocognize between silence and not silence
Hello, in my project im using speex 1.2rc1 and the preprocessor VAD seems to only separate complete silence from not complete silence frames. The Speex Manual, you can read "The voice activity detector (VAD) provided by the preprocessor is more advanced than the one directly provided in the codec." but if you go to the source code in preprocess.c line 995 "/* FIXME: This VAD

why VAD modifies my voice data?
Hello, I'm using Speex Preprocessor to supress noise, eliminate echo etc. But I have another preprocessor state that I want to use ONLY to determine voice activity. int res = speex_preprocess_run(m_VADOnly, (spx_int16_t *) pStreamSampleBuffer); pStreamSampleBuffer is modified after call to speex_preprocess_run. I have manually turned off noise suppression and AGC but anyway - VAD modifies

VAD always return 1
Hi All, I am trying to use VAD opption of speex encode on STM32F4 chip. But when I use *speex_preprocess_run *function, It allways return 1. Anyone can show me the problem? And please, give me an example about using VAD. Thanks in advance, Regards, Nhan. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Does VAD/DTX work without VBR and Preprocessor
Hi Marc, Thanks for your quick response. So if VAD is enabled then VBR will be enable although it's a special VBR. How about take out the VAD code from the VBR and remove the code else? Does VAD/DTX work without VBR and Preprocessor
Hello, I'm try to run speex on some ARM processor. I'd like to cut away some speex features including VBR, ABR and preprocessor while still supporting VAD/DTX. But I've found some puzzles in the source code regarding VAD as below, 1) there are VAD related codes in the source file preprocess.c. Will VAD still work If I don't use the source file preprocess.c? 2)The speex manual

Generating comfort noise with preprocessor VAD
Hello, I am trying to use the preprocessor VAD to encode at lower bitrate during silence periods. I am able to run the preprocessor and get the VAD flag for each frame, and I am quite happy with it's performance. I would like to know how to pass the preprocessor VAD flag to speex encoder -- basically, i want to force the encoder to generate comfort noise when preprocessor detects silence.

Compile/Build Speex on iPhone
Hello, I am completely new to Speex and make files but I'm looking to build/ run Speex on the iPhone for decoding and potentially encoding. I've read that you can just copy the source into an XCode project which I tried but I started getting all kinds of compile errors. (1000+) There were things like missing references to ogg header files and so forth. Could someone explain

VAD in preprocessor
Hi all and Jean-Marc, Firstly thanks a lot to you for helps, at last I accomplished to use speex-1.2beta1 in my speech application. I try to understand speex source code and improve speech quality. The problem in my application (like many people in the list says) is noise. So I've added VAD in preprocessor as following. VAD in preprocessor is very good, there is not noise outside speech. I

Compile/Build Speex on iPhone
The off dependencies are only for speexenc and speexdec, as far as I recall. If you omit those targets, you shouldn't have the ogg dependency issues. Voice activity detection
Thanks for your reply. I changed my code to: if (speex_preprocess_run(preprocess_state, shortPointer) == 1) { speex_encode_int(enc_state, shortPointer, &enc_bits); } In the mobile version of the software, compiled against the mobile build of Speech, I get 1 and 0 based on whether the speech is detected. In the version of the software compiled against the Win32 version of Speex,

Adjustable parameters for VAD in preprocessor
*Sigh* Some day I'll learn to set the right sender address when posting to membership-restricted mailing addresses. Was wondering why this hadn't arrived. Reposted message as follows: Hi, Would a patch to change the constants on line 454 - 462 in the preprocessor into variables be of general interest? At the moment, whether or not "is_speech" is 1 is hardcoded to be

bad VAD in preprocessor of version 1.2beta1
Hello, first of all, sorry for the joke in the subject ;-) I have successfully update the speex library my software was using from 1.1.12 to 1.2beta1 (1.1.13). It is a VoIP software, where i set preprocessor VAD on and use the result of speex_preprocess() to determine if there is voice activity. I must say that it works fine...since i have update to the new version. Ive been testing, and

VAD speex 1.2rc1
My data is speech sampled as pcm mono 32khz. I want to use vad for regulating the agc gain mechanism. So... if voice is not detected I just reduce the agc value in order to not amplify the 'silence' otherwise we just increase the agc value if it is below the minimum.
