MP4/H.264 codec for Firefox?
Hello, I am trying to get MP4/H.264 playback in Firefox to work on my CentOS laptop (for vimeo). I installed the gstreamer plugins as described here: https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/MultimediaOnCentOS7 (No, I did not install Flash, VLC and all the other stuff. I only want HTML5 MP4 playback..) I enabled the nux repos. I did install all available gstreamer plugins, i.e. -good -bad

DVD NTSC video plays twice as fast when encoded with libtheora
https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/roundup/ffmpeg/issue1197 I had originally encountered this problem using ffmpeg2theora. I switched to ffmpeg proper in an attempt to identify where the problem was at, and found that the problem persisted. As a result I had thought this was a problem with ffmpeg, but the ffmpeg folks seem to indicate that this is specific to Theora (too much finger pointing I think.) I

asterisk 11 and no RTP
I have a CentOS 6.3 machine I installed Asterisk 11, worked fine... I then tried to install on Cents 5.8, seemed to go fine... Then when I placed a call I got this: ast_rtp_instance_new: No RTP engine was found. Do you have one loaded? Did a search and found issues with ARM and this problem but did not help me, not using gtalk or anything. Just call between two polycom phones on local network.

Ogg in MP4 file, Unexpected result from _vorbis_unpack_books
Hi. I'm trying to implement Ogg/Vorbis support for the MPEG4IP project. The goal is to support Ogg/Vorbis audio for MPEG-4 streaming. So far I have managed to make the encoder save Ogg packets as an Audio object in an .mp4 file. As a side effect, it can also save Ogg pages in an .ogg file playable by xmms, but that's no big deal. So what I'm doing is this. First the init part. a)

Webm files written without duration in header
Hi Fred. Appreciate your response. Maybe in my explanation I have some red and green apples, but I can agree that my understanding is as you explained it. 😊 The point is that if I can successfully stream mp4 with H.264 and AAC encoding without any issues to icecast, I can then use ffmpeg to turn it into HLS which then solves my iOS support issue. The CPU cost of repackaging MP4 into HLS

compiling ffmpeg with --enable-libspeex (was Re: from Adobe Flex / Flash Player 10 .flv Speex via Red5 to .wav PCM?)
I am having trouble compiling ffmpeg to support speex, which didn't work with the ubuntu libspeex-dev package, but looks like it might with the Speex version 1.2rc1 tarball from http://speex.org/downloads/ How do I tell ffmpeg's configure and/or make to use the 1.2rc1 version of libspeex in /usr/local/include instead of the older debian/ubuntu libspeex-dev package in /usr/include/speex?

Metadata & Opus Files?
Hello, I'm using a libopus enabled ffmpeg version on Kubuntu (Not that this should matter from what I've seen), and i'm interested in adding metadata (Such as Track Title/Artist) to my videos that I convert. How can I do this? I've seen the metadata usage and read the ffmpeg documentation, but I'm still uncertain. I'm currently using command similar to: ffmpeg -ss

I also have this problem. Am still running previous FF version. ffmpeg/ffmpeg2theora &vhooks
Hi theora-list, I'm involved in in a project to redistribute C-SPAN's floor footage from the US house and senate that we're capturing and converting*. This footage is in the public doman, however there's a C-SPAN overlay which is a registered trademark - we're having to overlay a "public domain" graphic on top of it. We're currently doing this with

Hi there Thanks Thomas. I was hoping to avoid remuxing as my objective is to run an extremely lightweight server. Just tested and the CPU runs between 9% and 23% for a lecture of 90 minutes - took 18sec. Yes it's a lightweight server, but like I said, that's the objective, and quite a nice challenge :-) CPU = cost and if you have to remux for 1000 clients in a day, integrity of live

Proof of Concept
Hi, So it took a little while to get here but VP3 through ffmpeg is finally starting to achieve viewable results. It partially works right now. Keyframes only. And monochrome. Oh, and the picture is upside down (something I did not realize about VP3 until I let it fly just now). Anyway, here is a picture of ffmpeg's VP3 decoder in action using xine:

[OT] Playing mp4's on centos httpd
Sorry for the off topic, but hoping someone here can point me in a direction and end my endless googling... I have some mp4 training videos that our users need to be able to download or stream directly to their browser. I have the h.264 module loaded on httpd on centos (using http://swimminginthought.com/streaming-mp4-video-webserver-solved/#). So I think I have most of the infrastructure in
