echo cancellation on PDA
I did the test on another PDA which runs XScale 416Mhz CPU, the EAC
arithmetic could be done in 1ms, but for the previous PDA (TI OMAP
168Mhz), it take more than 100ms!
Though EAC could run in time on the new PDA, it did no help to cancel
the echo, here is my test scenario:
Init echo_state:
echo_state=speex_echo_state_init(160,1120);
int tmp=8000;

FW: SPEEX_PREPROCESS_GET_ECHO_STATE broken
All,
The implementation of SPEEX_PREPROCESS_GET_ECHO_STATE in preprocess.c seems to be broken. The value of the echo_state pointer is assigned to the stack variable rather than to the memory location pointed to by the stack variable.
Code snippet from preprocess.c:
case SPEEX_PREPROCESS_GET_ECHO_STATE:
ptr = (void*)st->echo_state;
break;
It seems as though the code should

Echo Canceller on Windows Mobile
Hi Jean Marc,
We are running the speex echo canceller code on a Windows Mobile smartphone using a TI OMAP 201MHz 850. We are making voip calls and audio is working without echo canceller code. Simply adding the following 2 functions whether the echo cancellation is wired in (ie we use the output frame ) or not performance becomes terrible. Note 2 separate threads are used to handle audio.

AEC frame size
?
hi all,
i am using the Acoustic Echo Cancellation from "Speex 1.1.12 version" in my VOIP application. Is it that the frame length to be chosen should always be 20ms or can i have flexibility in chosing the frame lenght?
on what parameters does the frame length choise depends?
thank you all,
Shri.

Speex AEC for Coldfire
Hi Guys,
I'm attempting to use the libspeexdsp component with a Coldfire M5329. I've downloaded the speex-1.2beta3 and configured using the following:
./configure --host=m68k-uclinux --prefix=/home/uclinux/uClinux-dist --enable-fixed-point LDFLAGS='-Wl,-elf2flt'
The library builds fine (or appears to) an is placed in the subdir 'lib' of the prefix shown above; my routine

Well, I'm not a professional in AEC theory, but what I've mentioned is:
speex_echo_state_init(20, 320*10) - frame size should correspond to
20ms. At your sampling rate (16000hz) is should be 16K*0.02 = 320. The
same I can notice about echo tail. 100ms: 16000*0.3 = 4800, not 3200 as
you has. But that's not crucial I think. Just wanna you get the point.

Why speex echo cancellation is not work
I have invoke the speex echo cancellation interface as follow, but it seems not work (the echo still exists, my testbed is a small udp based p2p voice chat software). Can anyone tell me why it doesn't work? or whether I have made some mistake? Thanks a lot.

#define SPEEX_NN 128
#define SPEEX_TAIL 1920

Using Speex Echo Canceller
Hi
Is it possible to use only the speex echo cancellation module w/o using the
speex codec?
Here's the scenario:
1. I have my voice recorded in PCM audio file format
2. I want to cleanup the recorded voice by removing any echo included in the
audio file/buffer
3. can I just use the ff APIs?
- SpeexEchoState* speex_echo_state_init()
- int speex_echo_ctl()
- void speex_echo_capture()

echo cancel
Hello,
I would like to test the echo cancel algorithm available in unstable version
1.1.4. This echo canceller can be used with other codecs like G711?
Somebody could send me some documentation or sample, or explain the next
functions:
SpeexEchoState *speex_echo_state_init(int frame_size, int filter_length);
void speex_echo_state_destroy(SpeexEchoState *st);

[SPAM] [BombData][alltestmode] Using Speex Echo Canceller
Hi Anton
Thanks for the info...
What if I use this function do I still need to sync the playback and
capture?
Assuming that the captured voice (*rec) already contains the echo which I
need to cancel out...
--------------------------------
void speex_echo_capture (SpeexEchoState *st, const spx_int16_t *rec,
spx_int16_t *out)
Parameters:
st Echo canceller state

Echo canceller problem
Welcome everybody.
I am new here on the list. Thank you very much for speex encoder and decoder.
They are working great. I compile speex coded for str911 Arm processor.
But I have a big problem with echo canceller from 1.1.12 speex package.
I create echo canceler state:
SpeexEchoState * echo_state = speex_echo_state_init(FRAME_SIZE,
FRAME_SIZE * 5);
FRAME_SIZE is in my project 160 samples.

Hi, thanks. One question did you use these 2 functions
speex_echo_playback
speex_echo_capture
No, I didn't use them. I use my own code to buffer microphone and speaker
data.

About echo cancelling
Hi.
I've implemented "echo cancel" to voip project.
But it doesn't work well . (I cannot feel the enhancement with activated AGC)
My encode settings :
1. frame size : 320 bytes.
2. sampling rate : 16000 Hz (WB)
3. mono
echo state initialized like this :
echo_state = speex_echo_state_init(framesize, framesize*16);
and befor encode :
speex_echo_cancel(echo_state,

[SPAM] [BombData][alltestmode] Re: Speex Echo Cancellation
As for me - speex_echo_cancellation is a better choise. Try using it in
capture thread instead
of those speex_echo_capture and speex_echo_playback functions.
And please, describe your problem in details. Cause the fact that you
"didn get echo cancellation"
doesn't mean you are doing smth wrong.

2 weeks lost in the AEC world
Hi,
my VoIP system uses speex with framesize = 160 samples(20 ms) at 8khz,
sending and receiving paquets of 1600 samples(200 ms).
When I receive a packet, I buffered it (I have also tried with
speex_echo_playback) before sending to the speaker.
When I capture from microphone, I fist remove DC offset (I saw in OPAL
sources) and then I call speex_echo_cancellation for every one of the 10

GCC/ELF Visibility patch
Hi,
I've attached a patch against SVN r14645 which adds GCC visibility
information to all symbols exported from libspeex.so and libspeexdsp.so.
It includes a configure.ac change to test that both the compiler flags and
__attribute__((visibility)) works, and if so will
#define EXPORT __attribute__((visibility("default")))
and if not
#define EXPORT
I've attached a diff output

AEC learning behaviour
Hi,
I already implemented and posted a patch to do this serialization a few
weeks ago.
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.audio.compression.speex.devel/6913
It is not integrated into the main git tree though.

Simon
