Observations on compiling on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
I started with:
- Mac OS X 10.5.8
- Xcode installed
- OCaml from GODI
- qemu from git
autoconf is really ancient (2.61). It doesn't have AM_SILENT_RULES
and although we tried to make things work when autoconf lacks this by
having:
m4_ifndef([AM_SILENT_RULES], [m4_define([AM_SILENT_RULES],[])])
AM_SILENT_RULES([yes]) # make --enable-silent-rules the default.

[PATCH] theora/{Makefile.am,autogen.sh}
the attached patch against current svn brings autogen.sh in line with
that in ogg/, and updates Makefile.am appropriately.
(needed to build on os x and probably elsewhere)

pkg-config problem
Hi, I tried to build libvorbis today but had a little problem.
When running configure it would fail with these errors:
./configure: line 19431: syntax error near unexpected token `OGG,'
./configure: line 19431: ` PKG_CHECK_MODULES(OGG, ogg >= 1.0,
HAVE_OGG=yes, HAVE_OGG=no)'
I had to set ACLOCAL_FLAGS to "-I /usr/local/share/aclocal" and rerun
autogen.sh in order for it to

problem with Rmpi 0.5-5 and openmpi
Dear knowledgeable experts :-),
I am trying to get openmpi, Rmpi and SNOW running on a Myrinet/GM
cluster. I'm not an IT expert, but I surely could use a working
installation of Rmpi and SNOW.
I try to load the Rmpi library and get the following:

[master:07230] mca: base: component_find: unable to open osc pt2pt: file
not found (ignored)

mongrel_cluster on OS X 10.5 Leopard
So, Leopard server has been great, most everything I need is here.
Thanks to a nice example here:
http://www.cyberarmy.net/library/article/1722/ I was even able to sort
out using Mongrel with Apache 2. All works out of the box, except
mongrel_cluster. The gem just won''t install. I could really use some
guidance here. I did try the darwinports mongrel_cluster install from
here:

[PATCH 2/5] autogen.sh: replace this by a simple call to autoreconf
The autoreconf tool is provided by autoconf to do what custom
autogen.sh scripts in many projects used to do. Only it is more
robust and widely tested. It has been available for several years,
too. No reason to rely on custom code for this.

Yep, all 7 tests pass now. Yay!

pkgconfig fix for nut
Dear Stanislav,
thanks for your patch. The problem with your "recommended"
pkgconfigdir is that in many cases, it does not work. Namely, when
${prefix} is not one of the standard places such as /usr.
As I understand it, the whole point of a tool like pkgconfig is to
allow other software to automatically detect the install location of
NUT, especially when that location is not one of

cannonical open source rails apps?
What do you think are the best examples of open source rails apps?
I keep a copy of typo trunk around just to look at the code to see
how they''ve solved a problem. Do you know other apps that you
consider particularly well written?
Thanks

[PATCH] Link libspeexdsp with libfftw3 when needed
When built with --with-fft=gpl-fftw3, libspeexdsp is not linked with
libfftw3, while it uses symbols from it. This means every object linked
with libspeexdsp should also be linked with libfftw3, but it is not
something reflected in the pkgconfig file.
Instead, link libspeexdsp with libfftw3 when --with-fft=gpl-fftw3, and
remove explicit link with libfftw3 in objects build by the speex
Makefile.

[PATCH] Use pkg-config (if available) to detect libogg. Fall back to old method if pkg-config fails.
Hi all,
Here is a patch to user pkg-config (if available) to detect libogg and
fall back to old method if pkg-config fails.
Pkg-config has the advantage that it can do configured to do the right
thing when cross-compiling.

hosting multiple rails apps in one webroot?
It''s actually REALLY easy with lighttpd on linux.
Two apps...
Myserver.com/code/ => /apps/code/
Myserver.com/test/ +> /apps/test/
Each application needs this in the environment.rb
/apps/code/config/environment.rb
ActionController::AbstractRequest.relative_url_root = "/code"
/apps/test/config/environment.rb
ActionController::AbstractRequest.relative_url_root

libuv bug ??
Okay looks like uv.h is in /usr/include - I didn't catch that until reading
the message. So the pkgconfig file is likely correct and not a bug.
Probably then a bug in the makefile for what I'm building (newer cmake -
bootstrap builds, it's post bootstrap that fails)
