Compile Speex for Blackfin in VisualDsp
Hi, ? Is there a fix for this issue??? ---> http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.audio.compression.speex.devel/2959 ? I am seeing the same thing when I compile speex in visualdsp ? These are the errors I get from using the assembly version of vq_nbest: ? ..\..\..\..\algorithms\voice\speex\src\vq.c [Error ea5004] "C:\Users\coder\AppData\Local\Temp\acc22e8547f000\acc22e8547f001.s":482

Speex on TI C6x, Problem with TI C5x Patch
Hi Jean-Marc, Hi Jim, I have also seen some problems with the 1.1.8 release on the C55x. So far I have boiled down the issues to the following: 1) We need our own "fixed_xx.h" header file. I don't know why, and haven't had time to investigate, but there is a definite improvement when I use the attached fixed_c55x.h file which has turned all the maths into inline functions.

Patch for Analog Devices compiler & fixed-point AGC
Hi Jean-Marc, As I told you, bank is a reserved keyword in Analog Devices compiler for Blackfin architecture. So we need to change the variables named bank to something else. Here's a patch that changes bank to bnk in the 3 concerned files. (Hope the format is OK) About my previous problems with the Blackfin: -> strange block repetition that could be cancelled by the AEC I was busy

Resampler, memory only variant
Hi, Here's the (hopefully) final version of the resampler, now always using st->mem as the buffer area. It only allocates buffers on the stack when it's necesarry to convert the output between int and float. -------------- next part -------------- Index: include/speex/speex_resampler.h =================================================================== ---

high-pass filter issues
Hi, I am using 1.2beta2 on a C5416 doing narrowband in the decode function I am having a problem with the execution of my program vectoring off to random interrupts that are not used. I have tracked down the error to the highpass function called in nb_decode -very close to the end of the function-context: it is called here: ln 1719 for me if (st->highpass_enabled) highpass(out,

"spx_word16_t *" is incompatible with parameter of type "float *"
Hi, I am bring SPEEX up on Analog Device's Blackfin (using Visual DSP++ tool set). The floating point was too slow on this fixed-point processor so I am going for the integer version. The floating point library build was very clean, but when I build with FIXED_POINT defined, the compiler exits when it find this discrepancy in \libspeex\cb_search.c : ".\libspeex\cb_search.c",

[ANNOUNCE] PocketPC Port for speex-1.1.5 with sample code
I emailed Jean-Marc the arch.h about one week ago, not quite sure whether he actually received that email. Anyway, here I have an improved version of arch.h that I believe that it would be better, to use __int64 only if compiling on eMbedded Visual C++ compiler, so for any other compiler, keep it the same (use long long) ---------------------------------- Chan Kei Yuen (Kenji)

Speex on ARM7
Hello I'm testing SPEEX on embedded board using ARM7 (Atmel). ARM7 don't have floating point so I'm using FIXED_POINT. Unfortunately the encoding speed is about 5 times slower then necessary for real time. ARM7 is slow for 16/8 bits operations. The sequence: static inline spx_word32_t compute_pitch_error(spx_word16_t *C, spx_word16_t *g, spx_word16_t pitch_control) {

Possible fixed point overflow/div 0 preprocess.c
Hi, I'll try to keep this as brief, yet descriptive enough to save everyone some time. If I'm off with this one please forgive me, but it has fixed my issues. I am not sure whether it is just my compiler (gcc 3.3.5) doing the wrong thing with the cast. File: preprocess.c Arch affected: x86, (others?) svn revision: 12778 Description: The SpeexPreprocessState_ member 'nb_adapt'

Optimised qmf_synth and iir_mem16
Hi all, I've taken preglows ARM versions of qmf_synth and iir_mem16 from rockboxes speex codec, and tweaked them a bit further for some more speed. I attach them here so you can review and take on any changes you want. Please let me know if you have questions etc. Thanks, Robin -- Robin Watts, Email: <mailto:Robin.Watts@wss.co.uk> Warm Silence Software, WWW:

Blackfin inline assembler and VisualDSP++ toolchain
> >Actually, you're the first I know using the VisualDSP++ toolchain :-) > I guess that's because speex has pretty big memory footprint. So developers that integrate speex tend to have plenty of RAM and once one has plenty of RAM he could install biggish OS. And between biggish OSes for Blackfin the most popular choice is uCLinux. And ucLinux works best with gnu tools. Something

Re: Problem with Blackfin assembly optimizations -- bug in fixed_bfin.h / resampler saturation???
Hi, I tried to figure out what the problem is -- but it seems to be totally different from what I expected. My status at the moment is: - computing results for "generic" and "Blackfin ASM" versions of the DIV32_16 function are the same, there is no "algorithmic bug" - Instead, there seems some sort of memory corruption: When I comment out the DIV32_16 function

Fwd: Re: Fixed Point on wideband-mode: Single Frame loss on 2000 Hz sine causes "freak off"
Hi Jean-Marc, I did what you proposed. I changed the levinson durbin algorithm to: { int i, j; spx_word16_t r; spx_word16_t error = ac[0]; for (i = 0; i < p; i++) lpc[i] = 0; if (ac[0] == 0) { //for (i = 0; i < p; i++) // lpc[i] = 0; return 0; } for (i = 0; i < p; i++) { /* Sum up this iteration's reflection coefficient

patch for libspeex
I have a patch for libspeex, which optimises some of the loops in vq_nbest and vq_nbest_sign that speeds up encoding - my results: test file: 10s wav file at 16000 Hz, mono encoding with wideband --quality 3, --comp 3 machine: PIII-900Mhz, 256MB RAM before: 2.78s after: 2.38s I'm still trying to grasp the code (I'm just a coder, no background in sound processing), and just optimised

fixed point macros
Do the two types have a constant integer and fractional part (ie 8.8 and 16.16), or does it vary. If it varies, is there any way to figure out where the split is for a certain variable? Re: Problem with Blackfin assembly optimizations -- bug in fixed_bfin.h / resampler saturation???
Hi, I just started to examine the DIV32_16 function (Blackfin ASM version), and wondered why the return value of the function inside 'fixed_bfin.h' is of type 'spx_word16_t', but the local variable 'res' which is returned by this function is of type 'spx_word32_t'. Is this a trick of optimization or a bug? (Same question for PDIV32_16 and MAX16, too!) best
