Version 1.2beta2 is out!
Hi everyone, I just released Speex 1.2beta2. Release notes: Again, this new releases brings many improvements. The RAM requirement for wideband has gone down drastically (i.e. more than 2x). A new resampler module has been added, providing arbitrary sampling rate conversion -- fast. The echo canceller has also been improved. A bug in 1.2beta1 that made the echo canceller unstable has been fixed.

AEC stops working in 1.2-rc1?
OK, here's what happens. There is indeed a small difference between beta3 and rc1, but the fundamental problem isn't there. I've attached plots of the speaker signal (blue) alongside the mic signal (green). You can see the delay is in the order of 1000 samples. That's way too much to do anything useful because the tail doesn't even "see" the echo. You need to reduce

Nothing but rhythm was left after encoding and decoding by speex on ipad(XCode 4.1 48110)
hi, I tried to encode the voice data read from AudioQueue and then decode it. There was nothing but rhythm left, it sounds like robot's voice, but I cannot recognize any word. The app was compiled by XCode 4.1. Speex 1.0.5 and 1.2.rc1 gave the same result. When compiling speex 1.0.5, I added them to Xcode project, set the Header Search Paths, then compiled successfully. When compiling speex

AEC stops working in 1.2-rc1?
Hi Jean-Marc, I tried with both testecho and my test program, and for some reason it just doesn't cancel any echoes with the 1.2-rc1. The testecho from beta3 binaries works fine, and also if I replaced mdf.c in 1.2-rc1 with mdf.c from beta3 and use my test program, it will work again. This happens for both 8KHz and 16KHz. Any ideas? I could upload the test samples and results if needed.

Strictly speaking it hasn't been "replaced", it's just supplied by speex rather than speexdsp, as was the

Regression in wideband encoding quality between b1 and rc1
Hello, To start with, thanks a lot for making such a great voice codec available! Having recently upgrading to speex rc1, It occurred to us that there seems to have been a regression in the quality of encoding since version beta1. We are compressing some 22khz wave files in wb mode with maximum quality / complexity in VBR, and the result was really great with speex beta1. With rc1 (or beta3),

Errors compiling speex1.2-rc1 in Symbian 3th edition SDK
Hi, I'm trying to compile speex1.2-rc1 for Symbian 3th edition. I get some errors: ***Invoking bldmake command perl.exe -S bldmake.pl bldfiles winscw \Users\Maurizio\University\ProgettoInterdisciplinare\speex-1.2rc1\speex-1.2rc1\symbian\BLD.INF FATAL ERROR(S): \Users\Maurizio\University\ProgettoInterdisciplinare\speex-1.2rc1\speex-1.2rc1\symbian\BLD.INF(37) : Exported source file

AEC Troubles
Hello, We are experiencing a few problems with Speex AEC. We are using it to process audio data on a real time stream over IP with Speex codec (frame size = 320). We initialize the echo state like this : SpeexEchoState * echo_state; echo_state = speex_echo_state_init(320,512); int sr = 16000; speex_echo_ctl(echo_state, SPEEX_ECHO_SET_SAMPLING_RATE,&sr); We are not really sure about

Building under MSVC & MinGW
I am attempting to build the RC1 drop of libspeex for Windows with the MSVC toolchain (VS2013) and MinGW, the following is my configure line: CC=cl.exe CFLAGS=-MD ./configure --enable-shared=no --prefix /builds/Windows81/x86 --host i686-pc-mingw32 During the configure process (specifically the "checking whether the C compiler works...") I get a Windows popup telling me that the test

Processing Conflict: speexdsp-1.2-0.9.rc3.el6.x86_64
Processing Conflict: speexdsp-1.2-0.9.rc3.el6.x86_64 conflicts speex <= 1.2-0.21.rc1 I am loath to replace things on my primary workstation as I have far too much to do as it is without dealing with self-inflicted injuries. However, I do use Jitsi as a softphone and the latest version has a dependency on a package in EPEL which replaces something from the base distro. Can someone inform me

echo_cancellation_api
Please, I'm looking at speex rc1 echo_cancellation API docs and I found there is now a funcion for doing decorrelation: void speex_decorrelate( SpeexDecorrState * st, const spx_int16_t * in, spx_int16_t * out, int strength) How does it fit to the speex_echo_cancellation function ? When removing echo from multiple channels I need to decorrelate the input mic first and

Where to put ported (embedded DSP) versions of Vorbis?
Hi all, Sorry for the somewhat off-topic post, but I haven't come up with a good answer to this question yet. MDS did a port of Vorbis to the Philips TriMedia processors. Others have taken that port and extended/fixed it a bit. We provide the code to anyone who asks, but at this point we think it would be better off in some sort of public repository so that patches can be maintained,

SSE Resampler
Hi, The attached patch includes a fully working patch for the resampler, including manual SSE optimizations for the single target. I've tested up and downsampling, changing the filter quality on the fly, changing sampling speed on the fly, multichannel resampling, _float and _int versions in both floating and fixed point and resetting the resampler. They all give the same results as the

Generating 1.2rc1 DLLs with MSVC 2005

Yeah, MSVC projects in the published RC1 sources are broken. I've sent fixes to Jean-Mark, and I hope they've gotten their way to the git.

speexdsp versioning
Hello, alsa-plugins currently includes speex/speex_types.h, but that doesn't work with speexdsp versions >= 1.2rc2, since speex_types.h has been replaced with speexdsp_types.h. I made a patch for alsa-plugins, so that it includes speexdsp_types.h instead. I also bumped the speexdsp version check from "1.2" to "1.2rc2" in configure.ac, since speexdsp_types.h didn't
