Hello,
I have some Problems with getting WINE to print. I'm using wine on a
non-Windows machine with Debian Potato. Everything works fine except
printing. When I try to print something I always get something like
"Printer not setup properly".
The errormessage from wine is

My .wine/config -file looks like this:

PESQ calculated MoS-Values for Speex
Hello,
I just signed up to this mailing-list (note: my first mailing list at all),
because I'm having some problems related to speex.
Let me just introduce you to what I'm doing.
I am writing a short (really short) paper about VoIP techniques, especially
audio codecs for speech.
I pointed out basic technologies behind audio codecs; vector quantization,
lpc, long-term prediction and some

Fixed Point Perfomance
Hello Developers,
I am considering using SPEEX on an embedded processor that does not have a floating point unit. Does anybody have a SPEEX performance characterization on a fixed point processor? More specifically, I am interested in knowing how the MFLOPS values from Table 9.2 in the manual translate to fixed-point instructions when SPEEX is compiled with enable-fixed-point option.
Any help

Decode win32 encoded files on TI C5x???
I have successfully DECODED speex on TI C5509:
#define TESTENC_BYTES_PER_FRAME 20 /* 8kbps */
#define TESTENC_QUALITY 4 /* 8kbps */
I am trying to generate the files I need with speexenc.exe:
speexenc -n --quality 4 -V male.wav male.spx
But I can't decode the files on C5x.
Yes, I have seen that speexenc.exe adds Ogg header and

de-essing into speex?
are there plans to add "de-essing" as part of the speexenc procedure,
to make it possible to use lower quality compression without getting
those horrible computer-like "ess" sounds in the finished result?
like if you say "someone said the sun is shining", there is a lot of
ess sounds, and these will sound "computer-ish" at vbr qualities below
9.

15kbps mode. It does significantly better with a different
speaker (the male does better than the female), as well.
I'm considering purchasing a commercial PESQ license and wrap
the PESQ software in a server application. I could then allow
other folks to run PESQ

PESQ results for speex 1.0.3
Hello!
Some time back, I added the Speex protocol to my version of
VOCAL (www.vovida.org, VOIP tool).
Recently, I also added PESQ (automated voice quality testing
algorithm) to my tool and have been running some tests on a clean
network. The source file is a woman reading some phrases meant
to test various aspects of codecs...
Speex has a respectable result of 3.67
Some other codecs I've

Opus application_mode==AUDIO, 20ms framing issue?
Hi Kevin,
Are you saying that the quality is good at 20 ms and bad at 10 ms, or
the reverse? Also, is this speech or music? What tool, what options? In
general, it helps a lot if you post the sample (input and output).
Cheers,
Jean-Marc

There is no such a thing as a "raw Speex format". Also, sampleenc.c and
sampledec.c are good for learning how to use the API, but the compressed
format shouldn't be used in

Quality degradation on new versions
Hi Jim,
First of all - thanks, turning the highpass filter off was what I needed,
and the waveforms
match now.
But, when i did the PESQ tests again I found an interesting result :
version 1.0.5 still got
a slightly better average score, but the standard deviation on version 1.2
beta1 was much smaller.
The cause for that is this - on some samples versions 1.0.5 and 1.2beta2
produced a single
