Digital speech within 100 Hz bandwidth
HA! Just when I was getting ready to drop myself from this list, along comes a ham radio question! Shoving digital voice down a 100 Hz pipe would be mighty darned tough/impossible. N0YMV has a good suggestion. Try those WSJT modes. They use narrow bandwidth and are fun to play with. There are documented instances where moon-bounce QSOs have been completed with these modes. No, it's

For example, i want the user to be able to say something simular in Swedish: connect disconnect help and so on. Best regards and thanks, Christian

Is voicemail to text possible?
Hi, I understand that speech recognition technology is not very reliable, but skype has has launched a voicemail to text service, and googling showed that some other companies are also offering similar services. I haven't used any such service yet, but was curious is there any open source software available, which, to some extent, could help converting speech from voicemial wav files to text

Question about htb class
Hi everyone. I''m new to this list and I have some questions regarding HTB class. I was trying to see how tc sets the parameters for HTB, but really couldnt understand them. So, I thought that I might ask the wizards. It''s mainly from the source code. 1. What is the cell_log ? (its everywhere in the code) 2. Why does htb calculate its burst(buffer) with tc_xmit_time() ? Eduardo, Me parece que el problema es el locale para TIME y la interpretación de %p, para no tener ese problema lo que tengo que hacer en mi caso es cambiar LC_TIME: > Sys.getlocale() [1] "LC_COLLATE=Spanish_Argentina.1252;LC_CTYPE=Spanish_Argentina.1252;LC_MONETARY=Spanish_Argentina.1252;LC_NUMERIC=C;LC_TIME=Spanish_Argentina.1252" > Sys.setlocale("LC_TIME",

Speex on DSPic, violation of license?
I was browsing through Microchips' website and came upon their Speex library. They are charging for it and looks like it is also not open source. http://www.embeddedstar.com/press/content/2005/6/embedded18391.html scroll down to the paragraph about pricing. - farhan

automatic callback when busy
I'm trying to set up the following application: When a SIP extensions calls another one which is busy, the caller would be able to ask for an automatic callback: when the callee becomes available again, asterisk would ring both the caller's and the callee's phones and connect them when both parties answer. Has anybody done this before? (I tried to search the archs but couldn't

Digital Radio Mondial - ACC & lousy speech quality
Salve, when some of you have the time, listen to some test-transmissions recordings of DRM (MW and SW) http://www.drm-national.de/Audio_Streams/audio_streams.html I have the impression that music sounds well but speech has realy ugly digital artefacts. Especialy Sample 2: High Quality MW 64 QAM AAC+SBR 25080 bit/s Would you guesss that speex would be better for voice only than ACC? DRM

stats tests on large tables
I have a large table of data which i can read in using read.table. I then want to conduct various tests on the data. Is there a simple way to conduct these tests by specifying the column headers which relate to different conditions of the experiment? e.g. data1 <- read.table("test.table", header=TRUE) t.test(test~control, data = data1) Which doesn't work and results in the

2 questions, frame size and SPEEX_GET_LOOKAHEAD
Ok, let me first explain why 5ms matters, even they are 0's, in my particular application. I am working on a speech synthesis system. The basic idea is concatenating pre-recorded phonemes or words into longer sentences. So any missing or extra samples, even it is as short as 5~10ms, cause very noticeable discontinuities. I want to use speex to compress/decompress those pre-recorded

TBF to limit bandwidth, Should I change #define HZ?
Dear friends, thanks for the last advices about TBF. After reading the tbf.pdf document I got a better insight of the problems I had trying to limit the bandwith on my testbed with a high resolution. The question I have now is: Would I get an immediatly better resolution result if I change the #define HZ to 1000 for my Linux box? I have a Pentium Celeron 700 MHz, and I would like to see the tbf

I''m attempting to get ztdummy working in domU and right now since rtc wont work properly and i get the error "rtc: IRQ 8 is not free." when trying to load the module i had to remove #Define USE_RTC from ztdummy. When doing that ztdummy wants the kernel''s hz rate to be 1000. Do i have to manually modify the kernel source to do this or can i do it live in the env
