libspeex.dll
hello, we start to develop an open source project. This project is a VoIp application with the same features like "Teamspeak" (http://www.goteamspeak.com). Our test application run in peer to peer mode under windows 2000 and above. At the moment we are using the gsm codec (13 kbps bandwidth). Later there will be a port for *unix systems. As aforementioned the project will be released

[PATCH] Check for _WIN32 instead of WIN32 in preprocessor checks
_WIN32 is always defined by the compiler automatically when targeting that platform, while WIN32 only is defined automatically in some configurations, and e.g. in MSVC only ever is defined in project files (if at all). Some other checks in the codebase already check for both WIN32 and _WIN32; those are left untouched. --- include/speex/speex.h | 2 +- libspeex/stack_alloc.h | 2 +-

Newbie - Encoding PCM
Hi all, i've to encode voice from a voicemodem. I choose speex 1.0.5 for its quality in voice encoding. I've tried to implement an encoder but unsuccesfully. Here's my code: /* ============ SPEEX stream ENCODER ============================================ */ int SPEEX_EncodePCM(struct _IDA_ClientSocket *IDA,char *buffer,unsigned char *PCM,int num_samples) { /* buffer point to the

Just getting noise
I'm completely new to speex and I'm having issues adding it to my application. I can pass raw PCM and that works fine so I know my transmission code is fine however when I try to encode/decode using speex I get noise almost like a whining/buzzing sound. I'm sure it's and issue in my code but I'm not sure where to start looking other then my gut tells me I'm not sizing or

Packet Loss question
Hello all, I know that SPEEX has a mechanism to handle packet loss. I see there is some handling for packet loss implemented in speexdec. I want to know, if in my own application should i also implement such packet loss handling or is it taken care of within the decoder? I want to test my SPEEX application for GNU Radio for some packet loss,if i just simulate a packet loss mechanism, will it work

Just getting noise
Alright noted, I changed me code so that the state is created in the constructor and destroyed in the destructor of the object. However I'm still getting the same issue although I'm sure that would have bit me sooner or later. The new code is as follows. virtual Enigma::u8* Encode(Enigma::u8* inputBuffer,size_t inputSize, size_t& outputSize) { short *in=(short*)inputBuffer;

decoded sample is completely differen from original one
Hi all, I have just started playing with speex, and come up with the following code, which just encode a frame of 160 shorts, and the decode it. For some reason the decoded sample is completely different than the original one. is my code wrong? If so what? Or is it a reasonable which depends of values that weren't correctly set? Thanks, Andre #include <stdio.h> #include

I'm only doing one frame using speex_encode_int greatly simplifies my code I'm not sure why the sample I was working off of was converting the shorts to floats then calling the other encode/decode methods. Based off of your suggestions I tried the following but I get the same result. virtual Enigma::u8* Encode(Enigma::u8* inputBuffer,size_t inputSize, size_t& outputSize) {

Raw files or Wav Files
Hello All, I have recently started working on SPEEX and thanks to the nice tutorial and examples, i was able to encode/decode files as per the command line programs speexenc.c and speexdec.c I tried the sampleenc/sampledec but, i know its only for the raw data. My question is what kind of raw data should be used to test them? Also, is it possible for me to use speex without any of the headers but

[SPAM] [BombData][alltestmode] Re: Speex Echo Cancellation
As for me - speex_echo_cancellation is a better choise. Try using it in capture thread instead of those speex_echo_capture and speex_echo_playback functions. And please, describe your problem in details. Cause the fact that you "didn get echo cancellation" doesn't mean you are doing smth wrong. Regards, Anton A. Formula/heuristic for estimating packet size?
Hello, I'm working on an Opus encoder block for GNUradio (a signal processing toolkit). I was wondering if there's some formula/heuristic for estimating the packet size average case / worst case given a certain encoder setting (assuming VBR). I need to provided a reasonable estimate to the GNUradio memory allocator. --Albin

SPEEX_GET_SAMPLING_RATE of encoder is wrong
Hi, I'm using speex 1.1.4 and when I query SPEEX_GET_SAMPLING_RATE as in speex_encoder_ctl ( m_pEncoderState, SPEEX_GET_SAMPLING_RATE, &m_SampleRate ); I get 2 The encoder is initialized with m_pEncoderState = speex_encoder_init ( &speex_wb_mode ); On the decoder side, the correct sampling rate is returned: m_pDecoderState = speex_decoder_init ( &speex_wb_mode );

Formula/heuristic for estimating packet size?
Note also that the packet size you give the encoder also acts as an absolute max on the bitrate. For example, if you ask for 32 kb/s VBR but give a max packet size of 120 bytes, then you're absolutely certain the bitrate will never go over 48 kb/s. Problems with Speex Libary
today I try to compile a test-file from the Documentation. I link the libarys correct but have only one error in this line: state = speex_encoder_init(&speex_nb_mode); The error: main.cpp|21|undefined reference to `speex_nb_mode'| The linking libarys: "libspeex.lib" "libspeexdsp.lib" I am assuming you are doing this in Windows. GCC/ELF Visibility patch
Hi, I've attached a patch against SVN r14645 which adds GCC visibility information to all symbols exported from libspeex.so and libspeexdsp.so. It includes a configure.ac change to test that both the compiler flags and __attribute__((visibility)) works, and if so will #define EXPORT __attribute__((visibility("default"))) and if not #define EXPORT I've attached a diff output
