pre-encoding and encoding optimizations
I guess you can always specify --quality 10, but you won't get 15 kbps quality at 11 kbps. Depending on the application though, VBR could be an option. Encoder performance on ARM9
Hi there, I've just started to work with the great speex encoder on ARM9-based embedded platform. This is my configuration: CPU: Cirrus Logic EP9315 @ 200 MHz (ARM920T) o.s.: Linux 2.6.9-rc2-ep93xx GCC: gcc version 3.3.3 (DENX ELDK 3.1 3.3.3-10) without MaverickCrunch support ogg library: 1.0 speex command line configuration: ./configure --enable-fixed-point --enable-arm4-asm The code is

Port speex to my iPAQ 1945
Hi I want to port speex to my pocket PC iPAQ1945 which has a Samsung processor 2410, an ARM9-based processor. I would like to write the specific optimized code for this chip. I had some experience at DSP chip and fixed-point coding but know nothing about embedded system and ARM. Could someone tell me some hint how to write optimized code for this pocket PC. If you can give me some links that will

Speex ARM4 patch
The attached patch eliminates some warnings while compiling for ARM4 targets. It also simplifies the asm constraints a bit. Now we can use the ARM4 optimisations when compiling for PortalPlayer targets in Rockbox. Cheers, Dan -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... ARM4 filter code
I have found that filter_mem2 fixed point does not match the inlined assembly version for arm4. Looking closer there appears to be an off by one error. It occurs when setting the value of mem at the end of the inner loop. In the C fixed point version this is done with a subtract. In the arm4 version instead of multiplying den by yi, it is multipled by nyi and then an add is done. This

Testing for 1.2beta2

Patch applied. Thanks. In case you're interested, there's plenty of ARM4 optimisations that need to be updated (since 1.1.12) :-) > Apart from that, the 1.2beta2 release is

TI Davinci DM Serias
Hi, I am attempting to port the speex library to TI Davinci DM35x Family. My questions are: 1. What is the best ./configure option for it? Is it ARM5e / ARM4 ? when I tried these two the during the compiled a warning "I suppose you can have a [ARM4/ARM5E/Blackfin] that has float instructions?" 2. is there any available demos for the echo cancellation because I can get it

Testing for 1.2beta2
Hi everyone, I'm planning on releasing Speex 1.2beta2 in the next few days. I'd appreciate if everyone could try and test the current svn to make sure no bug crept in for your favourite plarform/application. Cheers, Jean-Marc

export
I have a problem with the export of a simulated matrix (nrow=1000, ncol=492). I want to obtain a .txt file with fixed format data (five character for example). I've tried to use the instructions: options(digits=5) followed by write.table(...), but the .txt file reports always the data with different lenght, whereas the matrix in R gives right result (i.e. the elements have the same lenght).

More integer / ARM-specific optimizations
Hi Jean-Marc, Thanks for the quick response. Here are the numbers for our little ARM systems: CPU: ARM920T, 200Mhz Speex specs: Complexity 2, 5.95Kbps Encoding: ~30%, Decoding: ~4%, with Echo Cancellation / Pre-processor: > 85% Compilation: arm-linux-gcc -pipe -Wall -W -O2 arm-linux-g++ -pipe -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti -Wall -W -O2 Configuration: --host=arm-linux

Speex optimization and 12 bits conversion for 12 bits ADC
Hi, all, I am porting speex on ARM7TDMI, I have done some optimization, the result is that the encoder and decoder need about 60 MCPS for 5.96kbps bitrate and complexity 0. Can someone give me informtion about Speex optimization on ARM7? Another question, my ADC and DAC are 12 bits, but Speex codec is 16bits, Did someone try to modify speex to 12 bits? I think if I modify speex to 12 bits, the

Speex crashing on ARM with assembler optimization enabled.
Hi, I'm trying to get speex working on an ARM board (ARM926EJ-Sid(wb) core, ARM 5TE architecture) and getting segfaults if build with "--enable-fixed-point --enable-arm5e-asm" options. If I use just "--enable-fixed-point", then it runs fine, but once I add "--enable-arm5e-asm" it start crashing (I use testenc to test it). Further investigation showed, that it

how to classify sip traffic (voip)
How i can classify sip traffic (voip)?? I try dst 5060 udp port, but dont''work. sip sesion use dynamic port. Sniffing packets with windows net-peeker, I see that packets lenghts is always=87 How i can filter, by packet lenght, with u32? Regards Fabian

3.0.1x, "min password lenght" deprecated, smbpasswd
Hallo @all, since 3.0.10 parameter "min password lenght" is deprecated. If removing the entry from smb.conf, the default of "min password lenght = 5" is used. smbpasswd uses this entry if creating or changing passwords. How can I set a min password lenght of 2 characters without the deprecated parameter when the passdb backend is smbpasswd? Think "min password

c55x dsp
hi, am trying speex on TI c54x dsp. does anyone has any idea whether we can make both the coder AND decoder run in about 10ms for a 20ms frame for this dsp, looking at narrowband, no VAD/CNG/VBR, using a low complexity, say 1, for a midrange bitrate, say 15kbps? was the c55 dsp able to run real-time on speex for the above configuration? can someone share their timings? tia! oh yes, just

libspeex for other platforms
wouldn't it be a good idea to have the libraray available as a binary for non-PC platforms like the PocketPC, Symbian and Mac? i am suggesting this as it will allow the developers to go ahead and program to an interface while the development continues. there are builds for symbian, pocket pc and linux already in the tar ball. putting their binaries on the download section will probably

RV: By sentence
Hi dear listers Do you know how to made a mean by one or more categorical variables? I can do that quite easy on SAS by in R I just can't do it E.g. Some fishes Sex Lenght male 15 fema 20 fema 17 fema 19 male 18 So the idea is mean(Lenght) by sex, in order to have sex: Male mean=XX Sex: Fema mean=YY In this case is quite easy to do it by a loop, but I have a huge DB so is not an

Create a hyphen-separated set of letters derived from a string - How to?
