Need some clarifications about "speex_preprocess_run"
Simple questions:1. when this method is called for each frame, do I have to call them twice for both the encode process and the decode process?2. does preprocessor do preprocessing on raw PCM data or on encoded speex data? I need to clarify this because i want to know when should I call this function, before the encoding process (i.e. preprocess the pcm data) or after the encoding process (i.e.

iaxclient & speex
Hi
The latest SVN trunk for speex has changed the SpeexPreprocessState to
an opaque structure, for jolly good software engineering reasons.
However, the Analogue AGC (AAGC) feature of iaxclient (in audio_enode.c)
relies on some members of this. It uses speech_prob to detect when
there is enough speech to consider AAGC and then loudness2 to decide how
to adjust the input mixer. We want to use

Possible fixed point overflow/div 0 preprocess.c
Hi,
I'll try to keep this as brief, yet descriptive enough to save everyone
some time.
If I'm off with this one please forgive me, but it has fixed my issues.
I am not
sure whether it is just my compiler (gcc 3.3.5) doing the wrong thing
with the cast.
File: preprocess.c

VAD in preprocessor
Hi all and Jean-Marc,
Firstly thanks a lot to you for helps, at last I accomplished to use
speex-1.2beta1 in my speech application. I try to understand speex source
code and improve speech quality. The problem in my application (like many
people in the list says) is noise. So I've added VAD in preprocessor as
following. VAD in preprocessor is very good, there is not noise outside
speech. I

Voice activity detection
Thanks for your reply. I changed my code to:
if (speex_preprocess_run(preprocess_state, shortPointer) == 1)
{
speex_encode_int(enc_state, shortPointer, &enc_bits);
}
In the mobile version of the software, compiled against the mobile build of Speech, I get 1 and 0 based on whether the speech is detected. In the version of the software compiled against the Win32 version of Speex,

VAD with speex_preprocess()
speex_preprocess() isn't covered in the manual, is it? But, it's very
easy to use. If it returns non-zero, voice was detected.

Stereo AEC
Hi,
Can anybody show me how to enable stereo AEC, I tried with the
following code and the result is bad, degraded output.
Init:
ec_state = speex_echo_state_init_mc(frame_size, aec_tail, 2, 2);
speex_echo_ctl(ec_state, SPEEX_ECHO_SET_SAMPLING_RATE, &sample_rate);
preprocess_state_left = speex_preprocess_state_init(frame_size, sample_rate);

Problem with VAD in preprocessor on iPhone
Hello,
I am attempting to use Speex in an iPhone application and running into an
issue. I got speex to compile by following these instructions:
http://codeforfun.wordpress.com/2010/04/29/compile-speex-for-iphone/
Next, I was able to record some audio and play it back. I then inserted a
call to the speex preprocessor and am passing all of the audio buffers I
receive from Audio Queue Services

DTX and VAD doesn't work on one of my computers.
Dear Jean,
Thank you so much for reply my message.
I am sorry the function return 38 is speex_bits_write(). This function doesn't work on one of my computers. But after I add the function speex_preprocess(), it works well. I am wondering what is the possible reason? What the function speex_preprocess() does?
Another problem I have now is when I enable dtx and vad with function

Voice activity detection
This must be a simple issue, but I cannot figure it out.
I want to use VAD, but I don't know how to check if the actual frame has
voice in it or not.
So, in my code, I do:
int tmp = 1;
speex_preprocess_ctl(preprocess_state, SPEEX_PREPROCESS_SET_VAD, &tmp);
speex_preprocess_ctl(preprocess_state, SPEEX_PREPROCESS_SET_DENOISE,
&tmp);
then later, for each frame

noise when passing trougth speex_preprocess
Hi all,
as in subject, speex_preprocess inject noise in my data. Someone can help ?
Here's the way that i'm using:
#define NN 160 /* 20msec di audio */
#define AUDIO_SAMPLERATE 8000
spx_int16_t TEMP_Buffer[NN];
speex_pp_state = speex_preprocess_state_init(NN,AUDIO_SAMPLERATE);
c = denoise;
speex_preprocess_ctl(speex_pp_state, SPEEX_PREPROCESS_SET_DENOISE,&c);
c = agc;

How can I use preprocessor standalone with a wav file?
I have been tyring to use the preprocessor standalone by feeding it pcm data from a headerless pcm file (mono, 22050hz)
and then write the result to another file. Unfortunately, all I get back is noise (first frame is set to 0, rest is noise).
Frame size is set to 440.
I just modified testdenoise.c slightly to read/write from a file (see below) but I can't get useful results. What am I

Problem related to Voice activity detection
hi guys,
i am trying to develop an application having a capability to detect voice activity in voice stream and then record only portion of this stream which contains the activity. i went through these steps.
1. Captured voice through Waveform Functions of Windows Multimedia API
2. Started Speex Preprocessing liberary
3. Turned on preprocessor by calling speex_preprocess_state_init and

Hello,
I'm trying to compile linphone 3.0.0 in Ubuntu
And I'm getting the following compilation error.
I somewhere read that the fault happens because of the gcc 4.3.2 that
debian based linux uses.
Is there any solution (except downgrading gcc)
Thank you in advance
