Good heavens people can we please stop throwing around words like communist and socialism. 4. Government funded research has done a lot for the US and other countries. How about if I sell you a copy of speex. Buy low, sell high seems like a good capitalist plan, and then you could feel good about using Speex! Ben -- Ben Greear

unz( "x.zip", "y.csv" ) != pipe( "unzip -p x.zip y.csv" )
Not sure this is a bug in R. Maybe its a bug in my understanding of unz(). The character 'b2' (hexadecimal) is in position 535 of line 1 of 'naughty.csv'. This character appears as superscript '2' and came to me in an EXCEL file that I converted to text in a comma separated ( *.csv ) format. The first line gets truncated by readLines after 534 characters using unz():

Zip password recovery
Hi all, sorry if I am Off Topic on this list, but I think that this could be interesting also for other people; anyway: what would be the best way to recover a password from a zip file? And for other type of files (eg. xls, pdf)? I googled a bit, and I can only find ugly/unthrusted ( ;) ) windows programs... what about Linux? TIA Lorenzo Quatrini

Nautilus displays open document files of OpenOffice.org2 as ZIP files
Hi, the openoffice.org2 RPMs for CentOS 4.5 work very well, but there seems to be some integration missing. OO2 saves all files in the new Open Document Format, e.g. .ods, which is displayed by nautilus as a simple ZIP file (which isn't that wrong). But this means that you can't open the files directly by using a double click. /usr/bin/file seems to have the same problem, it

zip alternative?
Hi, Recently I've got several errors in one of my backups systems. The backup system uses basic tools: rsync, mysqldump, and zip and have worked fine until a few days ago. The zip command shows an error like this: size limit exceeded. So I've found out an alernative : p7zip. It seems to has all the needed features: * available package (in Dag's repo) * 64 bits for size

[Globalize] Enhancement - zip code regexes for each country
Was just playing around with trying to sort out validation of zip/postcodes depending on what country the user lived in, and was wondering if anyone has done this in a nice way? Seems to me that it would be a relatively simple addition to Globalize to add a regex for zip code validation to the things already in there? Or am I missing a trick? Thanks geoff -------------- next part --------------

Files for swig/classes. Apologies for the TODOs. I''m sure anyone can make sure they''re correct. I just don''t have the time to address them right now and figured it''d be best to document them. _______________________________________________ wxruby-users mailing list wxruby-users@rubyforge.org http://rubyforge.org/mailman/listinfo/wxruby-users

New version of .zip file for Scintilla
I missed three patch files that are needed. This new .zip file has them all. Oddly, after upgrading to 1.66 I''m having problems with the Scintilla object not being present. :( It all worked fine before. I''ll try to track it down and see if I missed some files. Here''s the last piece of the puzzle you''ll need to get this working (other than modifying the platform specific stuff like rakemswin.rb). Roy _______________________________________________ wxruby-users mailing list wxruby-users@rubyforge.org http://rubyforge.org/mailman/listinfo/wxruby-users

Docs for print or in the distribution zip?
Hi, Are there any plans to "export" the documentation from time to time(e.g. at releases) from the WIKI in an "offline" form to be usable as printed, and/or to be distributed with into scriptaculous-js-1.x.x.zip ? It is very uncomfortable that the ZIP distribution contains practically no documentation :(. Most of the WIKIs have such export function (many of them even export
